Chereads / The Habitat / Chapter 35 - Celebration to Victory

Chapter 35 - Celebration to Victory

The cave made of earth sheltered everyone who managed to survive in the war. Giving them a little shelter as they wait for Kent and Alex to wake from a sleep. A sleep of which concluded their victory of a seemingly unwinnable battle. "I'm starving." Cried Ivan. All of them nodded as they heard Ivan talk. Noel immediately stood up, "Let me get something for all of us. I don't really think there are other enemies nearby anymore." Thought Noel. He then looked at the butterfly queen in a distance which she also nodded and agreed. "Although the marshland is home to different creatures, hostile or not. The stapus are the main citizens of this land. Since the queen of the ants is dead, I think there are no major threats anymore." Said the butterfly queen, before she cried. Her tears flowed from her shiny cheeks. "For the first time, I think we can finally live this land harmoniously." She added, still crying.

Everyone looked at her, "Are you sure?" asked by many. The butterfly queen nodded and everyone let out a shout. A shout of celebration as they can now live this place safely. Away from threats and dangerous missions that can become a possible way for someone to die.

As everyone continues to be thankful. Some cried and some hugged each other. Some also just smiled and kept their happiness inside their heart. But, there's no denying that everyone of them was happy for the sudden news. Noel stood up and walked away towards the entrance of the cave, making himself take part of a mission of hunting for food. Gloyd saw him and ran towards him. "I'll help, my scream can immobilize targets, that way it will be easy for us to catch one." Gloyd said. Noel agreed and they both walked towards the exit. They saw the butterfly monsters as well as the guard bees talking to each other with their unique language and busy guarding the cave. They both looked at them. "It wasn't long when the war started, yet here we are alive and made friends with the remaining enemy." Shared Gloyd. Noel nodded, "Yeah, I think so too. I can't believe we can finally live this place in peace. We can now experience the beauty of this land without minding of possible threats that may come anytime. I don't know why, but I really feel that this place is way better than our past world." Shared Gloyd and they both left the cave and searched for food.

The night was long and the students were all deprived of sleep. With Belle's threads that can be used to make different materials, Belle used it to provide everyone a soft cushion to lay on. Giving everyone a deep sense of comfort as their bodies soak into a deep rest.

Belle saw the butterfly queen looking at the unconscious Alex and Kent. "Don't you have any hidden grudge against the ones who defeated your friends? As well as some of your kind?" asked Belle as she moved beside the butterfly queen. "A small price to pay for this victory. I know the ones who were killed didn't die in vain, for their fellow kind to experience this peace. In the future, I hope for all of us to live harmoniously in this land. A land where we can share its abundance and beauty. They were not also my friends, but I also understand why they did this, years of suffering can really change an individual." Said the butterfly queen. Belle looked at her pinkish eyes and felt her genuine want for change, even after what they had experienced in the past. She may have chosen to side with the enemies in the start, but she considered the possibility of living in peace and that's why she chose to side with us, and we should give her that, not just for the butterflies, but for all the creatures in the marshland who long and needed it.. Thought Belle. "When Kent awakes, she would save your kind. Don't worry." Assured Belle, giving the butterfly queen a hope to hold on to. The butterfly queen smiled.

"I can't stop thinking how did you defeat the queen bee, even with the three of our powers combined. We still don't stand a change against her." Wandered the butterfly queen. Belle looked at her and smiled, "Me too, after witnessing the powers of the other queens, including you. I can't believe we managed to defeat her, when she can actually kill us with no sweat at all. Maybe she was looking down on us and that's what lead to her demise." Thought Belle. The butterfly queen nodded, agreeing to what Belle said. "I hope they both wake up soon. I can see the others also fell into a deep sleep after the war." The butterfly queen said, as she looked around the cave and they were all sleeping and resting. "You should rest, too, I know you're also tired from the battle. I'll watch them until you wake up." Said the butterfly queen. Belle stood up, "Maybe I will." And she left to sleep, not far from where they talked.

Hours passed by and the marshland continued to emit the peace they have just won. Won from a battle that concluded it. Noel and Gloyd came back from the search and gave the ingredients to Jessie, a cook in the class, for him to prepare. Jessie immediately moved and asked help for some of his classmates where they prepared the food.

Everyone woke up as they smelled the sweet aroma of different ingredients mixed together to become a meal full of nutrients and favorable tastes. They all crowded at the center and shared the food together happily. They used the utensils made from leaves and scooped the food with their bare hands. A series of laughter and chats as they celebrated their victory with a delicious meal. "Where can we go back to the hive?" asked one of his classmates. Some of them might have really wanted to go back, since they all felt the same as they watched the hive destroyed by the ant queen's gigantic pet. They just want to go there and rebuild it once more. "Maybe, we can. After Kent wakes up." Said Christian. Everyone nodded and continued eating.

It was in the middle of meal time when the butterfly queen announced Kent and Alex's awakening. Everyone stopped eating as they witnessed the two, weak, but harnessed their strength to walk towards everyone. "Wooooohhh!!!" they all shouted. "How are you feeling?" asked Gloyd, pertaining to Alex who sat beside Gloyd and Maeje. "I'm fine." Assured Alex. Maeje gave him a leaf plate with some food in it. "You need to eat, when the hive was attacked, it's very hard to see you in such pain. Yet, you still came back to assist Kent and others in the battle." Cared Maeje, extending her arms as she gave the food to Alex. Alex accepted it, smiling, "Thank you very much for your help. I heard you helped us again with your medicine." Alex said, putting some food in his mouth, using his fingers. Maeje smiled, doing the same, "I'm happy that my knowledge to medicine helped us. The butterfly queen also helped me, so the credits won't really solely be mine alone." They both laughed. "Will this really be the end for all this danger, Alex? What about the threat of the breached borders?" Maeje added. Alex sighed, "We will meet Rabi and she should explain to us what will happen now. She said that we have to win this war first, to prove something." Said Alex, hoping that Rabi have something that can help them. "However, we should at least have some time to be at ease. Although I also hope this peace will last long." Alex added.

Everyone continued to celebrate their victory in the small cave made by Alex. Kent stood up and announced their next phase of their life in the new world. "This war has ended the lives of many, not our kind but the creatures who lived in this land. I might say that I thanked that no one has perished in our side, I was also sad for the loss of some from others. However, we have to do what we must in order to continue to live here. And I Am thankful to all of you, giving your best to win the battle that may conclude our future in this world, and because of that power, we have won and still live and eat happily to this day. But that doesn't end there. First, we have to rebuild the hive – our home, back to its original state. After that, we plan and prepare for the possible war form other habitats for we all know that the borders have already been breached and we don't know what sort of creatures lurk behind them." Announced Kent. "I hope we all survive." She said as she smiled to everyone in front of her. Everyone smiled and some let out a shout, happy but also vigilant of the dangers in the future. However, they also don't want themselves to be deprived from happiness, even for just a little time.
