In the present time of the Human World
There are two friends, Michelle and Sol. Sol is a 17 year old, short, weak, has no
talent, always bullied, ugly, and most of all, he has had a crush on Michelle for a very long
time. Michelle on the other hand, is a gorgeous girl, tall, president of the class, wins
championships at pageants, smart, and has almost every good trait you can think of. Sol
likes her a lot, he always follows her everywhere, helps her in everything such as
homeworks and many more. Every time they go to school, he goes to her house all the time
and joins her on her way to school and on her way back home after.
One day, it was not like any of Sol's normal day, because he finally had the courage to
confront Michelle with his feelings for her.
"Michelle, I've had a crush on you since then. If you have not noticed, I have been
doing things for you every day, helping you and joining you from going to school and
bringing you home. I do those things because I like you. I hope that you don't distance
yourself from me after confronting you with my feelings." Sol said embarrassed and
nervous.
"What? Uh-" Michelle said surprised and confused. "It's fine. I'm still your
friend."
Sol had a smile on his face right after Michelle's response, while Michelle, having an
awkward smile.
When Sol heard the word "friend", he said this repeatedly in his mind. But, he woke himself up in the reality of what he heard and simply became contented with what Michelle gave him. Sol still followed Michelle everywhere. He's still always supporting
her. Michelle still relies on him. But it now seems like she is taking him for granted.
While they were walking at the court, Sol asked Michelle if they could play basketball
together.
"Michelle, come on! Let's play basketball. I brought the old ball, just to kill time."
Michelle was disgusted with the old ball and denied his request.
Later on, Michelle saw her crush, Jake, who belonged to the other section and
wanted to play basketball. Jake is looked ugly but was tall, great at playing basketball,
always crowned as the M.V.P. and is the reason why their school was champion at every
basketball season. Jake called Sol and borrowed his basketball. Sol didn't want to give the
ball because he knew that he was Michelle's crush. After seconds, Michelle looked at Sol
and tried to convince him as much as she could.
"Just let him borrow the ball. Why are you being so selfish? Give it to me."
Sol gave the ball to Michelle after being hurt from her pulling and forcing the ball to fall
from his hands. When Sol looked back, Michelle was already playing basketball with Jake.
Sol was simply standing not too far from them, crying. He ran out of the school and didn't
go to school for several days.
One week has gone by, he got extremely ill because he refused to eat and cried a
lot. When he saw Michelle's picture that was crumpled, he asked himself why Michelle did
not even as much as how he was doing. Because of this, he thought of going back to
school. When he finally went to school, the first thing he saw was that Michelle and Jake
were starting to talk to each other. Sol was deeply hurt and became sad once again, because
not even once did Michelle visit or even ask how he was doing. Since then, Sol distanced himself from Michelle because she wasn't talking to him anyways. Now, he cries almost
every day. He always sees Michelle happy with Jake.
Eventually, Michelle felt sick. She skips meals because Jake always asks her to
play basketball with him and makes her do hard things. While they were playing, Michelle
suddenly fell when Jake passed the ball to her.
"Jake.. Help… My chest hurts.. I can't breathe.." Michelle said while trying to
catch her breath.
"Stop acting. That pass was so soft, and now you're acting like you fell from it?
Stand up. Stop acting." Jake said annoyed.
Michelle just wanted to be in the same level as Jake, so that he wouldn't leave her. Sol saw
Michelle lying on the court and shouted at Jake. Sol ran towards Michelle.
"Mich! Mich! Are you fine?! Come on, I'll bring you to the clinic!"
Sol placed Michelle's left arm on his neck and slowly held her. He was having such a hard
time carrying her, since he himself is sick and weak as well. When they arrived at the
clinic, Sol opened the door and immediately brought Michelle on the chair.
"Nurse, she just suddenly fell on the court, I don't know what happened." Sol said
worried for Michelle.
The nurse quickly examined and checked her and made Sol wait out of the clinic.
October 23, 2020. 6:00 PM.
Days has passed, Michelle stopped going to school. Because of Sol's curiosity, he
decided to visit her at her home. While he was on his way there, he passed by a path of flowers. He decided to pick one because of how beautiful it looked and chose some flowers to give to Michelle. However, when he arrived at her house, he did not reach anything. There was no one at her home. He later knew from the neighbor that Michelle was sick.
"Boy, there is no one there, they rushed their daughter to the hospital."
"What?! Since when?!" Sol shockingly said to the old neighbor.
"Probably days already."
"What hospital did they bring her to?"
"Uh- Wait. I forgot the name of the hospital. Ostentum? Ostensiya?"
"Is it at Ostentus Hospital?"
"Oh, yes! That's right, boy!"
"Thank you!"
Sol quickly ran to Ostentus Hospital and asked at the reception counter.
"Good morning, is there a Michelle Morningstar confined here?"
"Michelle Morningstar? Wait, let me check… Michelle Morningstar is at Room
34B." The receptionist replied.
"Thank you very much." Sol answered and went to the Room right away.
When he reached the hallway where the Room was, he knocked at the Room and
Michelle's dad answered the door.
"Sol! Michelle is resting right now. Do you mind not bothering her? Her surgery
has just finished. Sadly, it has failed and she needs rest. We're just hoping for a donation of
organs for now, for the doctors to do the next surgery." Alfred said. Alfred is Michelle's successful dad. He is a business man, quite decent, disciplined, and most of all, loves her
daughter, Michelle.
"Surgery?" Sol said confused and worried. "Why does she need surgery? What
happened?"
"Her organs are not functioning well as how they should. She needs new organs,
but we don't have enough money to pay for them."
While they were walking, they saw at Room 24B, Luna Morningstar, Michelle's sister
from another mother. Luna is a 17 year old nerd, in need to wear glasses all the time, has
loads of pimples, curly haired, and has fleas. Sol asked Alfred.
"Why is Luna in another Room?"
"She volunteered to donate organs even if she could die. But, it still isn't enough
because her organs are inadequate and some are not compatible."
When Sol knew this, he had an idea.
"Alfred, I want to donate my organs, even if I can die from it. I'm willing to do
this for Michelle." Sol said confidently.
"Are you 100% sure, boy? I'm a really desperate dad, so I will do everything and
anything, and I will definitely not refuse grace."
"I'm more than 100% sure."
When Alfred left, Sol asked for a piece of paper and pen, and then went to the coffee
dispenser to color the paper with coffee. Alfred then told his wife, Candace, about the
news. Candace is an unkind woman, high pride, and mad at Luna all the time. She is the one who convinced Luna to donate her organs because she claims that she does not have
worth after all in the family of the Morningstar.
"I have great news, hon! Sol said that he would donate his organs to Michelle
even if he knows he could die. The reason why he would do this is that not all the organs is
compatible with Michelle. Only his organs." Alfred said excitingly to Candace.
After fixing all the paper works for the donation.
Sol went to Room 10B, lied down, and prepared his last words. Before Alfred
went in Michelle's Room, and said the wonderful news to her, Sol gave the paper and said
to give it to Michelle when her surgery is done and successful.
"Michelle, the organs are already ready for you!"
"Really, daddy? Yay! Thank you!" Michelle said full of joy, despite being thin
and weak from her illness.
When they told Michelle about the organs, she was so happy. After some hours of
preparing, the surgery was finally being executed. Seven hours has passed and the surgery
was finally over. Michelle then rested.
October 24, 2020. 4:00 AM.
After 3 long hours of Michelle's rest, she finally woke up. In those ten hours, they
already have buried Sol. It was the only thing that Alfred could have done for him, because
Sol did not have a family. He only had himself and survived his life alone. Michelle was so
amazed that she was still alive, she thought of asking her dad, where they got the organs.
"Dad? Who donated the organs?" Michelle asked curiously.
"Uh—"
It was quiet for a while because Alfred felt like he killed someone to make her daughter
live.
"It was your sister. It was Luna. and—"
"It was Luna?! Where is she?!" Michelle asked while looking around for Luna.
"Luna is in the other Room, we don't know if she survived it or not. There was a
small sign of heartbeat at the monitor. The doctors thought that there was a ghost that was
making her live." Alfred explained.
"I hope that she's safe. As much as I would want to go to her, I'm too weak to
even move. Who's the other person who donated, dad?"
"It's Sol… Sol Crepuscule.. The—"
"My childhood friend." Michelle continued what Alfred said, while trying to
control her tears from falling because she doesn't want to think that she killed Sol.
After that, Michelle realized Sol's worth. It was only with him, she felt like everything is
calm. As if there was nothing she needed to do, no requirement to be loved. To be worth it.
"How's Sol, dad? Where is his Room? I want to see him. Isn't there a wheelchair?
Let's go to his Room—" She was cut by her dad and was dazed when her dad replied.
"Sol is dead, Michelle. We buried him a while ago."
"No! This can't be!"
Michelle's tear slowly fell down her face and together with this was a strong thunderstorm
out the window. Together with what the clouds bring is the heaviness Michelle feels in her
chest. Alfred placed his hand in his pocket and brought out a letter.
"Oh yeah, here's his last favor. He asked me to give this to you when your surgery
is successful and if you look for him."
Dearest Michelle,
Thank you for your everyday forbearance to be with me. For having the
longest patience whenever I annoy you. Although this is the last time we will
see each other, rather the last time I will be seeing you. I want you to know
that I do not regret anything you did for me and anything you made me feel. I
was quite hurt when you made me feel that I was not enough. This is the very
last thing I will do for you. May this be enough as my love for you.
Love,
Sol.
