Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Everyone was excited about the good news. And over the next day a lot of the people who knew jason came to congratulate him.

"It will be fun having a little brother now. I mean Anna is awesome but she can't understand a lot of the things I want to talk about haha." Joseph was sitting in the library talking to Jason.

"Yeah, I can't believe I have a big brother and a sister now. Admittedly its not official until the end of the month but still." Jason said with a somewhat dazed look in his eyes.

"Yeah thats one of the problems with nobility. To be recognized as being adopted you have to go before the King and swear fealty. Even if you are born into nobility you don't count as existing until the blessing ceremony before the King." Joseph responded with a note of remembrance. He had gone to Anna's blessing ceremony when he was a child. It was amazing.

" So what is the King like?" Jason inquired.

"The king is actually really nice. He is loud and boisterous. He is actually very close to our family and is like an uncle to me and Anna-Marie. " Joseph said, "In fact when no one else is around he has even pulled a few pranks on Anna. That little devil loved it. She loves getting pranked and giving them as I am sure you noticed hahaha" Joseph said trting not to laugh to loudly.

"Yeah. I noticed, she has gotten me a couple of times. And she gave Tobias a big one for teasing her during our lesson. "Jason said trying to contain his laughter as well.

"Hey it is dinner time we should head down before mom sends a team to find us" Joseph said after a while.

"So Jason have you decided on the gift you are giving King James for your adoption ceremony?" Tabitha asked in curiosity.

"Yes, I have decided to give him a blueprint of this idea I had. " Jason said. He had thought very hard on this gift as it could make his life far easier or lead to more of a headache.

"Oh and what is this blueprint off?" Gerald asked, a little surprised at Jason's choice.

"Well it's called a water mill." Jason began, " the water turns this wheel which in turns turns these two mill stones. This will allow you to make far better flour. The flour currently is coarse and gritty. This new machine willow allow mortals to make a light even flour instead. With this new method spirit cooks can finally begin to use grains as part of their repertoire. This will increase the food that cultivaters can use to help their cultivation. As well as provide a more tasty food for mortals to enjoy. it will also help food stretch further."

"Are you sure that this will work?grains are usually used by the brewers. What is left is used to make bread for the orphanages as they have no other way to feed themselves. " Tabitha said. She was worried about his choice. Bread was considered a very nasty low class food. It could prevent starvation but little else. Also because of how coarse it was it was impossible for spirit cooks to create spirit food with it.

"Yes I am sure that this will work." Jason said. Thinking back to all the breads and deserts from his last life jason was even more in a hurry to create usable flour. Luckily when he was learning to cook his neighbor made him make his own foot powered mill, so he could learn the process of making bread, from growing the grains to eating the bread. Retrofitting that to a larger scale and powered by a river wouldn't be too hard.

"Well are kingdom is crisscrossed with rivers and streams, so if it works we can put them up everywhere. The harvest for grains will be in seven months so it should be possible to test it this year. " Gerald said. While he had his doubts he decided to trust Jason. if it didnt work he could always forge a blade for the King to give to one of his children.

"To bad you wont be able to forge a good enough blade to give as a gift. Even though you have the love of smithing you are just a mage so can't go far on that path." Anna said with some regret. She would hate it if she was a failure at pill refining with how much she loved alchemy.

"Who said he would fail as a smith. he has a supreme talent for it." A vigorous voice came from the door before a scarred and crippled giant of a man walked through the door. he was missing an eye and his bare arms were covered in horrendous scars. This man looked like he went through a wood chipper and somehow survived.

Everyone jumped up in shock. No one knew how this man had entered the center of the castle without anyone hearing about it. Joseph began to draw his sword and Tabitha summoned a blue mages staff covered in arcane sigils. Jason seeing the situation got into his fighting stance from krav maga. Anna was still sitting there in confusion not used to fighting or danger.

Gerald finally came back from his shock at the presence of this man. "Everybody STOP!" He yelled at his family. This man could kill his family by sneezing at them to hard. He was one of the fourteen most powerful people in the Kingdom. While there may be more on his level only fourteen were known.

"Dean, thank you for gracing us with your presence. may I ask why you have come to my home." Gerald politely asked once everyone put away their weapons.

"Haha, good to know you remember me little pup. I am here to take your newest son as my disciple. As I said his talent is unheard of in our small Kingdom." the grizzled old man said in a surprisingly mellow voice.

"Good good, he would love to have a master such as your esteemed self I'm sure. Jason this is Dean Wraithclaw, he is the only known silver rank crafter in our kingdom. He is also a blacksmith. " Said Gerald sounding excited. With such a master, even if Jason was a horrid smith he out to have a few small accomplishments.

"He can join the Crafting Hall when he enters the Academy. He can also work on strengthening himself but his primary will be blacksmithing. " Dean Wraithclaw said

"Father, I already have a master, Rupert. He is teaching me the path of a spirit cook. " Jason immediately said. He didn't like how pushy and rude this dean seemed to be. besides his main path will be to strengthen himself, even cooking couldn't compare to that, much less blacksmithing.

"Ptuh! who needs spirit cooking. you are a gifted blacksmith and that is what you should be. " I will go tell that chef to forget about you or I'll smash him to a pulp. " The dean responded.

Before Jason could respond in a rage, "YOU WILL DO WHAT YOU HIDEOUS ABOMINATION! WHO THE F*CK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE YOU UGLY B*STARD! YOU THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME ON NOW AFTER ALL THESE YEARS! I REMEBER YOU BAWLING LIKE A B*TCH DURING MY SPECIAL TRAINING REGIME YOU COWARDLY SH*T!" there came a bellowing round of expletives from Rupert who had just came through the door.

Everyone went white faced. This man could affect the rain and wind if the kingdom with a mere flip of his hand, yet their cook just insulted him, multiple times and screamed at him to boot.

Unexpectedly, the dean fell to his knees with a crash tears forming in his eyes, "Berserk Bear is that really you? I thought you had died years ago. " Wraithclaw was shocked and nearly blubbering.

No one knew what was happening as it was way to sudden a shift. While it was obvious that the two new each other, none could understand how. One was a Archmage at the end of his life, while the other had gone through two ascensions and was one of the most powerful beings in the kingdom.

"Gerald help Claw up. His left leg can't support his weight to stand after kneeling. I'll cook something good for you dumb*ss and tonight you and I can talk. But Jason is my student. He can be your disciple as well but his main path will be battle. The winds are shifting and he will need the power. " Rupert said with a somewhat regretful look on his face.

"As for you all just ignore this. It isn't time for you to know this story. " Rupert said to the Kovar family, before turning to leave.
