Xavier's eyes took a moment to adjust to the blinding light of day. Once he could properly see he was amazed by how vast the city was before him. He stood atop stairs that led down into the city before him. From his elevated position, he could see a few openings where there appeared to be stalls and carts throughout them although Xavier failed to make out anything in specific. Each area he could see was filled with people and he could hear music from below throughout the city. As they began to descend the stairs Xavier looked for anything he could use to navigate such as one area that had a large statue in its center and a street that was filled with multi-coloured walls stretching down it.
As the group got closer to the bottom Xavier could also notice that the streets were covered in fanfare and flower petals. A group of children ran past the gates all carrying some kind of food item and giggling between themselves. Xavier felt a small pain as he could see flashes of himself running with other kids through a fairground and laughing as they ran. He could remember someone chasing after him as he ran and laughed with the kids.
"Everyone should stick together today just so nobody gets lost and has anything happen to them while outside the castle." Ethan told everyone as they descended the last of the stairs. Tyler followed him closely and it made Xavier wonder if he was scared of getting lost or could tell he did it often from his life before. "Now the first thing we need to buy is." Before Ethan could finish Sintarra ran off and shouted out. "Kebabs!" Ethan quick to react caught her by her robes and held her back as she flailed her arms and legs towards a vendor selling kebabs at his stall. "The first thing we need to buy Sintarra is proper equipment for ourselves. We must make sure we are prepared properly before we plan on taking any quests or missions from any of the guilds." Sintarra whined in protest against Ethan.
"Come on this festival happens only once every ten years can we please enjoy it. We made a squad with seven people in it so if we can get the woken some gear our training gear should be fine for now." She was still trying to get away from Ethan when he released his grasp on her and she stumbled forward almost toppling onto the ground. "I don't want to waste all our money so ill make you a deal if the others agree. We pool together our money and buy gear for the woken first, then after we have purchased them some armour and weapons we will then enjoy the festival but only after they feel well suited enough."
Sintarra turned to the group and used her puppy dog eyes that Ethan was afraid she'd use on them. One by one everyone agreed to it especially since they also wanted to enjoy the festival while it was around. Sintarra tried running to the stall again before she was once again caught by Ethan and he began to drag her away down one of the streets. "We agreed on after, now let's go look and everyone I'll need to know your weapons and classes please to know where to look." Tyler spoke up first giving his answer. "I got a shield and elemental for my stuff, also my element is fire if that helps." "It does, and you miss Sara?" Ethan turned to her as he finally let go of Sintarra now that they were a decent ways away. Sara gave her reply with a bit of sarcasm to it. "I received a magic orb for my weapon and my role is also an elemental making us a squad of elemental woken. Also, my element is water which may not pair the best with Tyler here."
Ethan took a moment to think and snapped his fingers after a few moments of pondering. "I've got just the place. Sara, you'll find a great orb at Madame Mystic's Mystic Magics. She sells all kinds of items to enhance magic for everyone especially those who plan to not be face first in combat. If you want to look there we can stop at a place for Tyler and Xavier on the way as there is a place that has decent leather armour and basic shields there." Tyler and Xavier agreed on the idea and Sara gave the final consent to go. "I just ask you to make sure we don't spend too much as I want to be able to get some good treats afterwards." With that, the group headed off down one of the streets everyone following Ethan as he lead the way for them.
While walking all Xavier could smell was the different foods vendors were offering from sizzling meats to sweet pastries. He even noticed one vendor adding honey to small bits of powdered ice and rolling it into a dessert for children as he then magically laid down a new layer and chipped away at it to make more. There were also several games that Xavier could see being played such as an archery game that a kid was standing on the counter of the booth to play. Xavier also noticed a game where people all bet on different colours and a die was rolled with the colours painted on it, the winner then got a choice of several rewards and the kid Xavier seen win chose what looked like a wooden carving of some winged creature with a lions body and a mans face.
As Xavier looked at all the games and vendors he noticed an alleyway and peaked down it seeing a sign above a door at the end that showed an anvil with a handprint in its center. Before Xavier could read the name however the group continued on and Tyler nudged his shoulder. "You smell all that delicious food? I can't wait to see what we can get after we buy some gear for ourselves. What do you wanna try first if I may ask?" Xavier gave it some thought and remembered the ice and honey. "I saw one vendor putting honey on bits of ice almost like snow and rolling it into a treat." Xavier then looked at Tyler once again confused how he knew what snow even was. "Do you remember snow Tyler?" Tyler shook his head and gazed forward in thought. "I remember knowing of it, but I don't remember what it is exactly other than something vague in the back of my mind. I am starting to hate this amnesia thing more every hour." Xavier and Tyler laughed a bit and Ethan stopped the group outside of a shop where there were also two stalls out front showing off some different armour pieces.
A man behind one of the stalls was trying to show off the equipment to passersby as they walked. "Look at this quality gear we have here fit for even the woken. Like what you see and come inside we have plenty to buy." He smiled as a small group entered the shop and he turned seeing Ethan and smiled greeting him. "Ethan my friend welcome back, surprised to see you here during the festivities but you're always welcome." The man then noticed the group behind Ethan and smiled at them as well. "You must be in a squad together I welcome you all and I'm glad to see my friend has people with him today, which means he brought you here on business am I correct?" Ethan smiled and slapped the man's shoulder as he walked past him into the shop. "Right you are mate. Everyone this is my friend Rodrigo who owns the shop. Nobody in this city makes leather armour as good as him, other than a few eleven shops that is but his is only beaten by a bit."
Rodrigo grabbed Ethan and put him in a headlock scratching his knuckle on Ethan's scalp. "You ain't getting away with that comment for free this time ya ain't." He released Ethan after a moment and turned to the group fixing his shirt. "Now since you're with my dear friend how about I show you the best of the goods myself and let someone else watch the stall for now?" The group got excited and Rodrigo got an employee from inside to watch the stall. "And remember kid greet everyone with an energetic smile. Make them think you're a wee bit mad and it makes them interested." He turned back inside and lead the group into the back of the store where they kept their storage. "So can I ask what my dear friends here are looking for exactly?"
As he asked Rodrigo pulled a rolling ladder across the wall and stopped it in the center climbing up to get a few different pieces before when being told. "Well, mainly it would be ideal to guard their chests and arms as most beginner monsters go for those. Have any chest pieces and bracers we could look at?" Rodrigo Climbed back down the ladder and placed a large wooden chest onto the table and smiled. "You take your lot at these while I get some bracers for you." With that, he left and the group looked at the chest Ethan being the one to undo the latch and open it. Inside were several pieces of chest armour some being full leather cuirasses, others being small parts either being a one-sided chest guard for archers that went over a shoulder and even one large armourer's belt that would cover from the waist to the chest. As the group examined them, Rodrigo returned with two more chests and placed them on the table as well. "Now these are where my talents shine my friends. Let's all take a gander at such quality together." As everyone was ready to see what kind of gear was inside Rodrigo slowly lifted both chests open.
