Shyam sat coldly in his black swivel chair. He leaned back in his chair and pinch the space between his brows. He was supposed to be focused on work at the moment but the thought of Naina had covered his thought.
The sudden knock on his office door interrupted his train of thoughts.
"Come in." He spoke indifferently.
"Sir the investors are here. We have to leave" Secretary Koushak informed.
Shyam didn't speak a word, but his expression remained indifferent. Koushak looked at him and noticed the gloomy look on his face. "Director, The investor are here". Koushak repeated the words with great difficulty.
Shyam leisurely walk out from his office while his eyes took a peek through the glass window.
-------
"Sit!" Shyam ordered in a low tone, more gentle than the ones he had been talking to her.
Naina stood transfixed on the ground staring at Shyam as if she was reading his mind but she couldn't tell what he was thinking at the moment, She had a feeling he was angry and when Shyam was angry it wasn't a good thing, she might lost the job. She was anxious inwardly.
Shyam took a step closer, making her tense up immediately. She became alert when he bent down. She yelped when Shyam scooped her.
"What are you....Put me down!" Naina tried to wriggle herself from his arms but Shyam hushed her, by making a hushing sound with his mouth.
Shyam was holding her close and her face was closer to his. Naina's heart was racing frantically as Shyam held her tightly in his arms. His musky smell was wafting into her nose. She had to admit that he smelt nice. Naina shook her head to take away such thoughts from her head and she turned to the other side and felt embarrassed when she saw Secretary Koushak standing there open mouthed.
"Get her flat shoes". Shyam ordered before he lowered her on the sofa and said, "Take out your shoes".
"Huh?" Naina was hit with a wave of confusion.
Shyam bent to removed her shoes and frowned deeply when he saw her swollen ankle. He then kneels on one foot and about to reach for her ankle. Startled, Naina withdrew her feet and said, "Director, I am fine".
But then disappointment was written on Shyam's face. "Should we go to hospital?" Shyam gripped her ankle and massage it gently.
Naina was shocked out of her mind with his gestures and made her speechless.
"I am totally fine". Naina said in assurance voice.
"What I told you before? Just tell me if someone bothered you," Shyam said with a soft tone in his voice.
"Hmm?" Naina's eyes flew to his face. "Why..why was he being nice?" She asked herself. Pondering, Shyam sighs inwardly and then withdraws his gaze from Naina. He wiped out his phone and call someone.
"Transfer her to HR Department" Shyam roared over the phone. Shyam looked at Naina who was also staring at him, more like she was staring at his phone.
"Did you put her in trouble?" Naina stared at him with marvel.
"Trouble...?" Shyam asked. The light in his eyes became deeper as he looked at her.
Naina explained, "It's all misunderstanding. I don't want to make big issues. She apologized to me and we are good now".
At that moment Koushak came back with a shopping bag in his hands. Koushak disappeared quickly after he handed the bag.
"Better wear this…" Shyam told her.
"I am fine. I will put medicine later" Naina promptly refused. Shyam who already kneels down looked up at her with sullen expression.
Naina pursed her lips and and reached out her hands for the shoes. It made her taken aback to do anything after seeing his sullen look.
Naina abruptly stop her movement when Shyam voice came above her.
"I am sorry. I shouldn't say that".
Naina felt her heart skip when she suddenly met Shyam's gaze.
"Okay" Naina cleared her throat.
"Thank you" Shyam lips curled up into smile while Naina was sort of lost looking at his face like that. They both looked at each other for a second, before Naina broke the silence.
"I should get back to work" She told.
