(I don't know how you guys feel about the preparation for war chapters but I have been enjoying writing them. I am writing about a bunch of other different characters and their perspectives so that's fun. Anyway, the war chaps are gonna start pretty soon. Might do another side chapter/Diaries to tie up some loose ends about things I forgot about and got reminded through discord.
Also, Double upload? Did Christmas come early this year?)
In a room in a palace was a short-haired woman swinging a sword with a serious expression.
"An army of angels is going to attack us. So we are going to attack first."
Luminous had told her those words as she filled her in on what was going to happen in the near future. And she too would be joining the fight.
'This is going too fast. Just a few days we were celebrating.'
She continued to swing her sword without stopping. She had a lot on her mind. When Chloe had awakened she had felt something weird. Almost as if her soul was trying to be pulled out from her body. She knew she had some strange connection with the girl she had been teaching but she didn't know what it was.
She had been using her mathematician skill to think about what would soon happen. And with all that she had heard from Luminous, she knew one thing for certain.
'I am not strong enough.'
At the moment she wasn't strong enough to defeat Luminous, and Luminous herself told her that she felt like she wouldn't be of much help compared to everyone else who would be going. And she knew of a way to become stronger. In fact, it had been inside of her for a long time.
Her own Hero's egg.
Two questions were burning in her mind. The questions she had been asked that day in Jistav.
"What do you want with all of your heart and soul? What is the thing you will stop at nothing for?"
She had found her answer. The reason she had joined Luminous. A goal that may have seemed too big to reach but a chance to fulfill it had just opened up.
She wanted to save everyone. Not one or two people, not one or two thousand. She wanted to save everyone. When she had decided on that goal she felt the hero's egg crack, but it didn't awaken. But she knew she was stepping in the right direction. And whether she knew it or not she had been walking this path for a long time.
The reason she had decided to go to Tempest was that she felt that going there would be a good way to save everyone. And in some way she had chosen right. She saw it with her own eyes when she looked at the people in Jistav and Tempest. And when she saw Eurazania's rebirth.
They were happy, they had been saved.
She had heard the news of Tempest becoming the leader of the western nations. And by this point, Tempest held two-thirds of the world in its palm. But they were at peace, they were healthy, they were saved.
She was actually planning on moving to Tempest to assist directly, but now her plans had been thrown off by the sudden war.
However, she had realized something, the reason her egg hadn't hatched. She had made her resolve to save everyone, but she had yet to follow through. So it would be during this war that she would prove her resolve.
"Miss Luminous is calling for you, she has a couple of things she wishes to update you on." Said Roy as he entered the room.
"On my way." She said as she wiped off her sweat and grabbed her jacket.
…
"Miss Milim, we have made the preparations you had asked us to do. The teleportation circle to Tempest is now active and we have increased our guards and patrols. In the case of an attack we cannot deal with, we have our escape plan ready. We will be safe even while you are gone." Middray, one of Milim's followers, reported.
"Is Miss Frey back yet?"
"No, she is still getting the harpies in Fullbrosia ready for her departure," Milim answered with an unusually serious tone.
"I see, do you know the date of your departure?"
"Not yet. We are waiting for the ones who awakened as a demon lord to recover and wake up."
She knew how serious the situation was by the tone the Walpurgis had. And she could see in everyone's expressions that this was not the time to fool around.
She hadn't quite noticed this herself but she had grown in the past couple of days. The reason for this was because of her nature as a Dragonoid.
Just like true dragons, that are able to control their appearance and age while in humanoid form, she too had been doing so subconsciously. Due to growing up without her parents, and due to the loss of her only friend, she had refused to grow up.
She didn't have a reason to, and being all alone made her seek fun. She was afraid that if she grew up she would not be able to play and have fun anymore. She feared being sad and alone, and for that reason, she kept on looking for things that would entertain her.
After Ramiris had stopped her rampage the queen of spirits had been forced into a more childish form from the damage she had taken. And, Milim had noticed her change. She seemed more fun, less burdened by the responsibilities that were given to her. And so, without realizing it, Milim had decided to never turn into an adult.
However, things had changed not too long ago. She had made new friends, most of which were adults yet still had fun. She had reunited with Gaia, and her own pet was back to acting like normal, though he seemed to be growing quite fast.
And she had also met the one that called her 'Little nuke.' For some reason, she felt weird and happy when she heard that nickname.
It was through the barriers she had built for herself breaking down that she began to break apart the mental barriers she had made for herself. It was then that she began wanting to grow once again.
Rimuru had begun teaching her and assisting her when it came to managing her territory and it was thanks to those lessons that she was able to provide more for the dragon faithful that served her.
And now that she had seen how dire the situation was she was going to go all out in defending the people and place she cared for so much.
'That's right Rimuru, you better watch out. Once you see me on that battlefield I am going to be Ultra-nuke, or maybe Giga-nuke… Actually, I like little nuke more…'
She wanted to run off to Tempest to assist there if she could but they had already discussed what they were supposed to do. And she wasn't going to inconvenience them by not following the plan.
"First, we have to make sure our territories are safe in our absence, and we have to get them prepared in case of enemy attacks while we are away. We will leave some of our armies here to buy time for us to return just in case.
Once we have secured our territories we will all meet up on Tempest to begin the fight, I will send you a notice the day before all preparations are ready, so do be ready by that time."
Thinking of what they had discussed she looked at Middray
"How is the placement of the magic circuit progressing?"
"The protection circle is going quite smoothly, since we are doing it above ground to save time it is slightly in the way but we will be fine for some time. The people who were sent from the magic division are quite capable. If what the report said was true then it should buy us enough time to escape."
"If it comes to it, remember to follow anything Ramiris tells you. She is the boss of the Labyrinth so she will know how to best protect you."
Middray couldn't help but release a smile.
"Miss Milim, I am thankful for your concern. I don't know how much has changed but I am happy to see you are growing. It only reassures us that our tribe made the right decision by serving you"
Milim looked down at her chest and then looked up back at him.
"If you say something like that again I will punch you to another world."
"Ah, that's not what I-"
"Heheheheh, I know. Now go, we have to make sure we aren't the ones delaying the plans."
With cold sweat running down his back Middray stepped out to supervise the progress of the magic circuit that would protect them. Leaving Milim alone in the room.
She turned around to look at her reflection on one of the mirrors.
