Chapter 82 - The World Gate

For the third time since its creation, Tempest was quiet. There were still a few groups of people that were unaffected by the sudden sleepiness that fell on most of its population, but they were in the minority.

"This is both really calming and weird… it's too quiet." Chloe said while looking into the town.

"It is not often that we don't get to see so many people moving around… Are you sure it was fine to awaken everyone at the same time? Right now Tempest has lost most of its fighters…"

"Don't worry. I wouldn't have done it if I wasn't sure we wouldn't be attacked."

Right now I was sitting on a bench on a hill near Tempest with Chloe, she was retelling to me some of her past experiences about the war that would happen. I wanted to have as much information as possible before we left.

"*sigh* I'm really nervous you know…" Chloe said as she leaned onto me.

"I am stronger than I have ever been, but what good is that when your opponent is invulnerable. I think you already know this but one of the skills of the Lord of Justice is castle guard. Which blocks anything and everything."

"I have a way of dealing with that skill." I said as I put my arm around her shoulder.

"Yeah, I guessed so…" She snuggled a bit more. "I feel safe when I am around you, but for some reason that makes me feel guilty."

"You don't have to place so much responsibility on yourself you know? Remember what I told you. We have plenty of people who can fight, and they have all grown quite strong. So don't feel like this is only on you. If it ever feels like it is too much, know that there are people all around that will assist you."

Chloe let out a small laugh.

"Do you remember what I… Nevermind." She was about to say something but she stopped as a small blush appeared on her face.

"What is it?"

"It's nothing, let's just stay like this for a bit. Can I go with you when you leave Tempest to awaken the rest?"

"I don't see why not, I was actually about to head there."

While I had awakened everyone who had a seed in Tempest there were a couple of people who were not able to make it for various reasons. So since I could teleport without problem I was just going to head to their locations and do it from there. It would be more efficient that way.

"Are you ready to go there now?" I asked

"... 5 more minutes…."

….

(3rd pov // Leon)

Leon Cromwell was walking through the castle he had built with a smile on his face. An expression that he almost never showed. The reason for this was the fact that he had just met with the person he had been looking for since he had been brought to this world.

"She must have been joking, I would never say anything weird to her."

He was trying to convince himself of this fact. And after some mental gymnastics, he was able to make himself believe that it was all just a joke.

"But to think that she would become so cute."

For some reason ever since he had seen her once again he had a weird feeling in his heart. He was quite unfamiliar with what it was but for some reason, it made him happy.

'What was I going to tell her?'

Back when he had first gotten the chance to speak with her he began to blurt out the first things in his mind. And he felt like he was about to say something important before he got interrupted.

'It doesn't matter, I will get more chances to spend time with her once we deal with Michael.'

By now he had entered a room that had a lot of people who had strong auras.

"Lord Leon." They said as they bowed, welcoming him.

They were, in fact, otherworlders. They were children that had been summoned when Leon was trying to summon Chloe. They were all delivered to him and he summoned spirits and gave them to them so that they could live. He had been focused solely on rescuing Chloe that he didn't stop to consider that maybe mass summoning children was a really messed up thing to do. Or maybe, he did, but decided that the sacrifice was worth reuniting with Chloe.

Now that he had spoken to Chloe he realized that maybe summoning hundreds of kids in search of one was by far not the best idea, but it was too late to change what had happened. Once they grew a bit older, if they hated him and wanted to leave, he would let them go. Just as he had done with Shizu.

In his eyes, she was still not strong enough to leave when she did, but since she would be accompanied by a hero he assumed she would be fine. Though he still worried for her so he kept tabs on what she did from time to time.

The main reason he trained them was so that they would be able to survive out in the world if one day they chose to leave. However, after spending most of their lives in El Dorado, a large portion of them would stay.

In truth, Leon was a bit of a softie on the inside. A large portion of his actions might not reflect it, but he was a softie nonetheless. Leon, however, is extremely bad at expressing himself. So most of the time he comes off as cold and cruel.

The people that were gathered inside the room that Leon had entered were a few of the ones that had been able to see past his cold demeanor. They had forgiven him for being responsible for the summoning and they had pledged their loyalty to him.

The reason they were here was also that they were the strongest when it came to Leon's subordinates.

"I called you all here because we are about to head off to war."

His voice made the people in the room become quiet as their expressions became serious.

"I will explain the situation and our enemy. We must make sure to completely destroy them. As they have done something unforgivable. And the fate of our world depends on it." Leon began to speak as his voice took an angry and serious tone.

'That's right, they have done something that will never let me forgive them. They made Chloe sad.'

(Ramiris' Labyrinth)

The fairy queen was inside a room as she was manipulating the environment. She had to make sure everything was perfect by the time everyone woke up. And behind her was a bronze-skinned blonde dragon with glasses and a pale-skinned blue-haired fallen angel.

On her arm, the fairy queen wore a silver bracelet with a blue orb. A blue orb she was using to communicate with Rimuru's "assistant". They were in the process of building a gate to the other worlds.

Only four people were capable of traveling freely to and from the cardinal world, the world they were currently in. So if for some reason they had to separate it would leave the rest of the ones going stranded in their location. In order to prevent the enemy from isolating the armies, they had to build a way for only the allies of Tempest to freely move.

The answer they were looking for was the gate they were building at this moment. It would allow those chosen by her and Rimuru to jump between worlds. And thanks to the directions of the helpful assistant they were making a lot of progress.

Professor Faust, aka Veldora, would assist in managing probabilities of success and he would assist with his own calculations. Lackey Dino would assist in bringing the important materials, aka food. The mysterious assistant, Ciel, would provide the directions and also assist in changing the Labyrinth to form the gate. And lastly, Queen Ramiris would also adjust the labyrinth to create the gate.

The once plain room had been filled to the brim with magical circuits and strangely carved pillars surrounding a huge stone arch.

"We are almost done! After all, this task is nothing for me." Said Ramiris as she began to laugh quietly.

"It is a shame that I will be staying here managing the gate. If I had been sent to fight I could have won the war using my 48 secret moves. "

Veldora began to laugh when Ciel spoke up.

"No, if Ramiris uses her full power she is indeed extremely strong."

Ramiris nodded with pride.

"Finally, someone who can see my true strength!"

This idle chatter continued until they finished the last touches.

"So umm…. Why is it not working? I thought we were done." Dino asked, seeing the inactive gate.

"There is one final step. We could, on one hand, provide it with magicules and the gate would temporarily open. However, it would require a huge amount of magicules to be constantly provided for it to remain working. Not very efficient." Ciel said from within the bracelet.

"Or?" Veldora asked, removing the fake glasses he had put on to look smarter.

Ciel began to activate Origin: Creation, creating and giving life to the stone gate. Making the circuits and inscriptions all around the room glow slightly.

"From now on, you will be named Yggdrasil." Ciel spoke directly to the gate.

Just as they had done in naming the sword Musabori Kuu, Ciel had created and given a name to the gate.

Suddenly being filled with magicules the gate began to glow and the entire room was filled with light. And the very next moment a portal opened from within the gate. A portal that quickly closed.

The room returned back to normal as if nothing had happened. The magic circuits lose their light.

"It is done. We have created the gate."

...

I made a new story called "The Journal of a Random Omnipotent Being" It gives a different viewpoint to what a Rob goes through and what their job is like. For some reason it doesn't appear on my profile but it should appear if you use the search bar.

It only has 3 chaps so it shouldn't take too long to read them. I would appreciate it if you all gave it a try. Probably won't upload as often as this but I have enjoyed writing it so far.
