Chapter 81 - Feldway

(This is mostly the prologue of volume 16 with some slight changes to fit the fanfic since it is pretty important. Plus also as a refresher for those who already read it.)

A long time ago a chaotic dragon appeared in this world out of nowhere. In truth, not even Veldanava was fully sure from where. The chaotic dragon, Ivaraj, was the embodiment of calamity. With powers that could rival a true dragon, however, without any of their intellect. The chaotic dragon moves only by instinct, and that instinct was to destroy.

When Veldanava noticed this dragon he decided that it should be contained. After all, it would be a shame if all the work he had put into creation got destroyed so easily. However, that was Veldanava's fatal flaw. He loved creation, and so he was unwilling to get rid of this chaotic being. With hopes that it would one day gain intellect, Veldanava sealed this dragon away in a different world. And he left Feldway to monitor its movements.

Even with his absolute devotion to Veldanava, Feldway could only see Ivaraj as something that had to be eliminated. However, he followed his orders and began to monitor the isolated dragon.

Due to the planet being flooded by the chaotic magicules new beings began to appear in that world. These beings were called Cryptids, and just as the one who had given the magicules for their birth. These creatures held no intelligence. Only living by instincts. In the eyes of Feldway, these creatures were an insult to creation. So it was then that he began his daily routine of destroying them.

However, there came a day when a creature was born that held intelligence. And Veldanava rejoiced, so he gave the creature a name, much to Feldway's irritation. This new creature would become known as the Insectar King Zelanus.

Zelanus began to drive out the unintelligent cryptids all around his world, eventually creating a strong clan of Instectars that would serve him. Zelanus, too, began to work under Veldanava. Which was the only reason Feldway and Zelanus didn't fight at the beginning. And while they didn't fight it didn't mean they got along, they only tolerated each other.

But even now that Zelanus was the one who was fighting the cryptids Feldway had already changed. After spending so much time fighting in a world bathed in Ivaraj's magicules the race of Feldway and his subordinates had changed. Their race had changed into phantoms.

Time passed until the day Veldanava had died. Feldway was ok with this, after all, true dragons would always come back. This was just his master having fun, and once he came back he would probably get back to working with him.

But the day never came.

The god of reaction had been killed by a mere human. The god of creation, who was a true dragon, a race that would always return after dying, had vanished. Which could only mean one thing.

They had been abandoned.

Feldway could only feel anger, sadness, and disgust.

Disgust towards humanity and all of the races that could be collectively referred to as subhumans such as elves and dwarves.

And why could they continue to live after Veldanava had died?

The creation that Veldanava loves so much. Maybe if it is at the risk of being destroyed he will come back.

"Lord Veldanava, I know I am sinning against you. If you want to punish me for my actions then please come and do so. If you don't, the world will be gone. Everything will be destroyed, so please stop me."

And so, Feldway began his plans to destroy everything, in hopes that his god would return. It didn't matter if his god hated him, he was willing to suffer the consequences of his actions.

Feldway was desperate enough to fulfill his plan that he went to Zelanus to ask for assistance. However, he was rejected.

"There is only one who can give me commands, and now that he is gone I don't have to listen to anyone."

It was with that rejection that Feldway became angered. Because Zelanus was acting as if Veldanava would never return. A fact he couldn't accept.

The relative truce that Feldway had with Zelanus broke, beginning a war with the two of them.

Feldway had spent a lot of time trying to figure out a way back into the Cardinal world. Veldanava had made it especially difficult for people outside of it to enter the world he liked the most.

He had left a gate for him to use but that no longer was an option because of that annoying black primordial that guarded it. And since he was already stuck in a fight with the insectars he was not in full freedom to spend all of his time researching a way out. He had really been too rash in starting a fight with them.

It was one day, during his investigation, that he heard the voice of Michael.

Free from the influence of Rudra he was able to fully control the skill Lord of Justice. Giving him absolute domination over those who held a virtue or angel series skill.

It was through his conversation with Michael that he developed a plan.

"Bring Velgrynd here with you, and also bring all of your most capable fighters. We will use them to conquer all of the worlds."

"Why? Wouldn't it be more efficient to continue with my plan?"

"Your plan has a really big chance of failure if Guy or the black primordial happen to interrupt it. While it is tempting to just follow your plan, we would do much better if we bring an army that is strong enough to keep them busy.

From what you have told me, the army you have at the moment is weak. Guy would be able to destroy them all with a wave of his hand, with few exceptions. Tell me, Michael, do you really want to risk Veldanava's resurrection going wrong by rushing the plan."

Michael remained quiet for some time before answering.

"You are right. I will go gather them right now. I will be back shortly."

And so he disappeared.

Michael was able to travel freely thanks to some of the skills he possessed, as well as being one of the skills Veldanava wielded in the past. In truth, he was not the only one capable of jumping in between the worlds. But he was one of the few who had permission to come and go from the cardinal world as they pleased.

Time flowed differently between the worlds, so Feldway had to wait for a long time for Michael to return. Yet he didn't waste that time, he went over to the person he had been fighting all of this time to call a truce.

He went to talk with Zelanus and gave him an offer. Half of the Cardinal world would be given to the insectars. Half of Veldanava's precious world. And half of the worlds they would conquer on their way there.

And with an offer he couldn't deny, he accepted.

Not long after this truce was called Michael appeared with all of his followers.

"Feldway, on the way here I have thought of something. You are right, I might be a bit too hasty, and my actions could have led to us not being able to awaken Veldanava."

"You don't have to worry about that Michael. I have just had much more time to think about this. I am sure you will become better with experience."

Michael nodded his head but he still had a complex expression.

"I have an offer for you. As long as I remain by myself I won't be able to use all of Lord of Justice. I have access to it but not the strength to use it, as Rudra has left this body too weak. I think it would be better if I handed you the usage of my skill.

As one of our lord's most faithful servants, I believe you are the one who should hold this power."

And without any good reason to refuse the necessary boost in strength, he accepted. Michael transferred his Manas core onto him. Leaving Rudra's weakened body behind.
