Chereads / I am Rimuru Tempest(Old Version. Rewrite is out.) / Chapter 68 - Spooky Diaries. Halloween special.

Chapter 68 - Spooky Diaries. Halloween special.

(Writing this helped me stretch out my writing muscles. I was kinda stuck on how to start the next chap but I think I have a general idea now. Hopefully you enjoy the special chap. Posting now since it is about to turn Halloween where I am at. I was actually able to finish it today instead of tomorrow.)

(I'm a little behind on the chapters I wanted to do because of work but I already had all of this planned out… so some characters that I will mention and events may not have happened in the fanfic yet. So I guess light spoilers for what is going to happen soon in the story. Spooktober has just been a busy month with work for me. Maybe you can see the spoilers as something to look forward to I guess. Honestly not too big a deal/Spoiler.)

~The bet part 2~

A man was running through the forest with all of his strength. In his arms and legs were heavy chains that slowed him down, yet nevertheless, his speed was great. The man had been stripped of his clothes and was only wearing a loincloth. True fear was the only thing in his heart.

His bare feet continued to run through the rough terrain. The loud sound of each of his footsteps on the dried leaves and the sounds of the chains made his location clear to anyone who was nearby. The man had fallen and tripped through the forest multiple times acquiring cuts and bruises that healed at a great speed.

A laughter was heard all around the man as he froze in terror. He looked left and right but he could not detect the presence of the attacker.

"Kufufufufufu."

The man then knew that it was too late. He never should have gone to that hellish house. Why did he have to go there again? Momiji was the one who had told him that as long as he put his heart to it he would be fine. She told him that she believed in him. And he was a fool to listen.

"You should have known better than to place the bet again. Don't you know? It is shameful you are trying to avoid the punishment for your loss."

"I- I can't do this again. I am married now. If she found out I did this I would not be able to look her in the eyes."

The demon in front of him stepped out of the shadows. He was wearing a large black cloak that covered his body and made a shadow to cover his face. On his hands were a scythe and a mask.

"It is a good thing I was the one to follow you. My lord might have taken pity on you. However, I am not so kind. You were the one who wanted to play again, and you lost."

The demon dressed like the grim reaper threw the mask at the red-haired man.

"Diablo…. Please."

"Benimaru, no, I should call you the masked fool. Time to do your end of the bargain."

On this spooky night of Halloween, a legend made his appearance once again. The masked fool who had intrigued Tempest so long ago had shown himself again. And with his every appearance his legend grew. He was even announced to win the costume competition, yet he never showed up to claim his prize.

The masked fool's following began to grow, and a secret fan club was created trying to solve the mystery that he was.

~Ghost in the school~

"Is it this way?" asked Ryota.

"Yes, I am sure I saw the ghost this way." Said Alice with a determined tone.

"Don't worry Alice, I will protect you." Said Kenya as he raised his sword.

Small laughter was heard behind them as Gale and Ryota began to whisper. Overhearing their words Kenya turned around with a red face and said in a quiet tone.

"Shut up. We are supposed to be ghost hunting."

And the moment after he said that a small gust of wind was felt in the hallway.

All of the kids turned to look in front of them only to see a shadow rush by. Absolute quiet enveloped them. However, these kids were not normal kids. They had become the equivalent of B - A ranked adventurers.

"Wind steps," Alice said as she cast the spell quietly.

The feet of all of the kids glowed for a second before no more footsteps were heard. This also came at the added benefit of greatly increasing their speed.

"Let's go."

The kids, who had dressed up as ghostbusters, began their high-speed chase to follow the shadow.

Weaving through hallways they spotted the shadow once again. Being careful not to damage the school they began to launch all sorts of spells, from air walls to ice nets. Yet the shadow was too quick to be caught. Until it disappeared again.

"Guys, I think we lost it." Said Gale as they slowed down.

But yet the next moment his foot was caught and he got pulled through the floorboards.

The tension began to increase as they all huddled together to watch over each other.

"I can't believe Chloe didn't want to join us, with her here we could have caught the ghost by now." Said Ryota with an annoyed tone. Yet he was the next to go.

Balck tendril-like objects wrapped around his body and after they had fully trapped him they turned into bats that then disappeared. Now the only ones left were Alice and Kenya.

The black shadow jumped to grab Alice, her knives were all too spread out to protect her in time. The black shadow was about to grab her before Kenya blocked the attack with his sword. The sword that he held was now glowing with a golden aura that illuminated the room.

The shadow seemed to pull back from the light and was about to run away but Kenya jumped at him with his sword in hand.

"This is what you get for trying to hurt Alice" He screamed without thinking about his words.

The shine in his sword increased and the sword sliced cleanly through the ghost. Destroying it instantly and dropping a small core onto the ground. Kenya turned around with a bright smile to look at the person behind him only to spot a blushing Alice.

"You idiot! What do you think you're saying?......... Thanks for saving me"

The lights in the school turned on as some music began to play and a voice was heard through the speakers.

"Group 32 has won! Please proceed to the school entrance to claim your prizes. Please bring the core on the ground so that the next person can play."

~The big bad wolf~

*Huff huff huff huff*

A woman with bunny ears wearing a red hood was running for her life.

'Why did I go away from my village. I should have listened to my parents, I might be strong in my village but how the hell is everyone so strong in here? I really messed up this time didn't I?'

She was running and being extremely quiet. Hiding and taking seemingly random paths that were in fact planned escape routes. Her mother had told her to always be prepared to run away as a worst-case scenario.

And for her, this was the worst-case scenario, she had accidentally spilled a drink on a creepy guy dressed as a wolf

She continued to jump and maneuver throughout the city, moving as quietly as a feather. Yet the wolf would continue to appear in her path. When she realized she had no way to escape she decided to confront him.

"It was just a drink ok! I'll pay you for another shirt just don't hurt me!"

The man with a wolf-like costume began to approach her before he lifted his mask revealing a handsome blue-haired man with a singular white horn on his forehead.

"Why would I hurt you?"

Seeing the face of the wolf she began to stammer her words as a blush crept up her face.

"Well… I mean… If you weren't, why were you following me throughout the city?"

"You left your basket." He said as he lifted up a basket filled with items.

"That...….." Realizing her mistake she began to bow over and over again apologizing, but she was stopped by the kijin.

"Don't worry about it. In fact, are you looking for a job?"

"Huh?"

"I saw your moves around the city. They are a bit rough but they show promise. The benefits and pay are quite good. Plus you would get free training."

"Erm… I do… need a job. Wait, what kind of job is this? Not some weird creepy thing right?"

"No, in fact, you can go to the main building in Tempest to sign up. It is a job sponsored by the Emperor himself. I will make sure to put in a good word for you."

"A job sponsored by the Emperor! I am so sorry for the misunderstanding. May I know your name?"

"Souei, my name is Souei. May I know yours?"

"Blanchette, I received my name not too long ago."

After she said those words her stomach growled.

"Well then Blanchette, I know of a place with great food. It will be my treat as an apology for the scare."

~The vampire and the pirate~

A beautiful vampire was kneeling on the ground. The white dress she was wearing had some tearing from place to place that revealed her white skin. Sweat was formed all around her body as she attempted to stand up once again.

A person appeared in front of her, his clothes without any trace of damage. His clothing was a red button-up long-sleeved shirt that was unbuttoned, revealing the chest of the wearer. Blue shorts with a yellow sash tied around his waist. And on his head was a straw hat.

"Times up," said the blue-haired pirate as he reached up his hand to help her up. "We have some other places to be, I squeezed in the fight last minute only because of the bet."

The vampire laughed lightly for a second before reaching for his hands.

"You and your bets, who would have thought the Emperor of tempest would be such a gambler."

"I only bet on things I know I have a good chance of winning, and I know when to back down. I think the one that needs to be reprimanded is you, Miss Hinata. Making quite the bold bets don't you think?"

Helping her stand up he brought her close to him until their faces were next to each other.

"What if I don't want to follow my part of the bet?" She said with a teasing smile.

"I am a pirate for the day, maybe I should just steal it?"

"And give you the satisfaction of it? No way." She answered with a smile.

Their faces moved closer together until their lips touched.

~Halloween interruption~

(definitely 100% canon lol, 1st pov Rimuru)

In the art district of the city, a celebration was happening. All sorts of people were gathered to have a party. At that moment I was finally fulfilling my part of a deal I had made. Some music was playing and so I was dancing with the person in front of me, Chloe.

She had been having a lot of fun since the event had started and had dressed up as the Insect Hashira from her favorite manga, Fiend Executioner.

The party had progressed quite well and it was nearing the end.

"Hey Rimuru, I have to tell you a secret."

"What is it?"

Chloe motioned for me to get closer and so I did.

"I had a lot of fun." And after she said that she gave me a kiss on the cheek.

But the moment she did that the world shook. Cracks began to form in the sky and I felt a collar appear on my neck draining me of all my strength.

[Alarm! We are surrounded! Their power levels are- It can't be- they are over 9000.] My connection with Ciel was cut as armies of armored people began to appear all over the district.

They were wearing strange outfits I didn't recognize until I was thrown to the ground by one of them.

"We are the Interdimensional Fbi. You are being arrested for your crimes."

The people's expressions turned to disgust as they began to murmur among themselves. The person holding me to the ground spoke up.

"You are going to the interdimensional max security prison. Enjoy your stay, scum."

I was dragged in shame through the gigantic gate in the sky.

….

"Hey, what are you daydreaming about?" asked Chloe as the song finished and some games began.

"Nothing much."

[Sigh…] I could feel as Ciel shook her head.

And so we joined everyone else in the games. Veldora was surprisingly good at most of them, which made you wonder what he had been doing instead of practicing. One thing was for sure, Veldora wasn't doing his 40 hours of practice a day he was supposed to. Ling-Ling would be disappointed.

Trya and Treyni were surprisingly good at carving pumpkins so they won the competition. Velzard had been disqualified after he brought a monster pumpkin that tried to attack the judge.

Luminous had surprisingly won the drawing competition judged by Gutmut. When I asked her about it she just shrugged and said.

"I have been alive for thousands of years. I have my fair share of hobbies."

After that, some participants stepped up to play my 100% original Tempest Feud game. Were we asked 100 citizens of Tempest questions and the players had to guess the top answers.

The games continued on for a while longer.

A singular Fbi agent looking at the event through a dimensional glass-

[Please stop thinking stupid things, you are giving me a headache.]

'Alright, alright.....

....

Alright'

[*sigh* Matthew McConaughey...

you are lucky I like you.] Said Ciel as she played along with my goofs once again.

What she didn't know was that there really was an fbi-

[...]

'Alright, I'll stop.'

And once I said that I could feel Ciel gave me a smile. It was a weird connection that we had, but it was something I was glad we had.

"And for the winner of the costume competition we have a decisive victory with over 80% of the votes. The Masked Fooooooooool"
