Chapter 39 - Slime Diaries #1

(When I was about to start to write the next chapter I got the urge to write this, so here it is, let me know what you think. You can skip it if you want. The next plot chapter should be out at the regular time.)

~Beach Date.~

We had all taken a day off from work to all have a day out. Shuna had made some swimsuits for the day and we had gone to a small beach nearby.

"Alright! Let's set up the volleyball game Rimuru-sama mentioned!" Said Shion while pulling out nets. She was wearing a revealing swimsuit that was barely holding together.

"Wait wait, we gotta surf first! I learned new water magic just for this occasion!" Said Lina while carrying one of the surfboards we had made. She was wearing a modest beach sundress with a swimsuit underneath and a hat to cover out the sun.

Shuna and Trya were holding a large number of buckets of different sizes and small shovels. On her other hand, Trya was holding a small book titled "How to build sandcastles for dummies". A book she had gotten from her new Merchant friend called Lai Bhari. They were analyzing the surroundings searching for the best place to build them.

Walking behind me was Souka, Nyx, and Treyni, all wearing swimsuits. The reason Treyni had tagged along was because of the small fairy that was laying on my head.

"You know, it's not my fault your hair is so comfortable to be in." was her excuse.

As for Nyx "There are demons that roam in the water. If they try to bother you I will deal with them and show them how magnificent Rimuru-sama is"

We played a few games of volleyball in which we went all out. Lina was sitting on the sidelines getting the surfboard ready since the game was going to be a bit too fast-paced for her to keep up.

*Boooom*

"Point!" shouted Shion as the ball landed harshly on the ground.

Now getting serious the rest of the people playing the game got ready to go all out. Souka activated her draconic transformation and her strength increased As she hit the ball once the game started. Shuna on the other side activated a multi-layered barrier causing the ball to bounce up into the air where Shion gave a strike with all her might.

Trya called a high wind spirit and focused a wind strike to stop the ball. The intense game continued on for around half an hour.

A while later Shion's team won 15-10 and the teams split up to do their own things.

Lina, Souka, Ramiris, Shion, and I surfed around the waves I had created with control particles for a while. When we came back to the beach we found a bunch of sandcastles that progressively became better and better until a magnificent castle stood out among the rest. Sitting around it were the two dryads and Shuna with proud expressions on their faces.

Many hours passed after they continued to try out different games and the sun was beginning to set. Nyx had disappeared at some point and just when we were about to get ready to leave for the day she burst out from the water with a bright smile.

"Rimuru-sama!!!" Behind her a large number of sea monsters popped their heads out from the water. Many light bruises could be seen on their bodies. "I have formed an alliance with the sea monster tribe! They are now your servants so you can command them however you want. They have a lot of rare supplies that they will start to give us!"

~Lai Bhari~

(3rd Pov)

(Turns out Lai is a Chinese Name and Bhari is an Indian name so there is a chance someone out there is actually called Library/Lai Bhari.)

Lai Bhari was an otherworlder that had been pulled into this world. She owned a big Library and took pride in what she had built with her own hard work. She spent most of her free time reading books and she had read most of what was in her library. She was about to close up the library at the end of the day, and when she went to place the last book on the shelf she vanished. By the time she realized that she wasn't in her world anymore she had awakened the Unique skill Librarian which allowed her to summon and create copies of any book she had read in the past.

When she got around to this world she had the idea to start selling books to make money but she was being careful about what she sold. She was scared that if she sold books that had too much advanced information she would be kidnapped by a country so that they could keep the knowledge to themselves.

Eventually, she ended up in a country called Tempest and decided to open a store there. She sold regular books to entertain people, and every once in a while sold books from her "Special" section. When she saw a green-haired girl asking about different types of books she knew that she had the potential to become a woman of culture just like her, soon a weird friendship was formed between the two of them. The librarian saw the dryad as an apprentice, someone she could pass on all of her teachings, and when she grew old and died could maybe take over the library she would build.

~The Bet~

(3rd pov)

Sitting on a table was the serious expression of Benimaru, Veldora, Gobta, and Rimuru. Beads of sweat forming on everyone's forehead. The air was tense and heavy pressure was released by everyone subconsciously.

On the hands of everyone were cards. Gobta placed down the forbidden card.

"+4, green color."

Veldora gave a smirk and placed down the next card.

"+4, Red, Uno."

Rimuru went next

"+4, Red"

Benimaru gave a large sigh and pulled out 12 cards from the deck. This was the move that had sealed his fate.

"Wait- Double or nothing, Let's play a different game!" Benimaru said with a panicked expression.

Game after game, Benimaru continued to lose. The small punishment had grown with every loss.

"Just- Please let me use a mask at least…"

After exchanging looks with everyone he gave a sigh of relief.

The next day the weirdest thing had happened in Tempest. A man wearing only a loincloth and a mask that went around his whole face to hide his identity danced and sung songs all throughout Tempest. A new mascot and legend had been born that day. That was the day the legend of The Masked Fool was born.

....

~Lucky~

Masayuki had just been launched into the air by the strike of a dragon, his teammate had moved to attack the dragon and had lined him up to be struck by accident. Somehow he had been hit in a way that didn't injure him but only sent him flying.

"Is this how I die?" he thought as he fell down onto a lake.

The lake had actually been a cover to an experimental lab that had been abandoned a long time ago. However one of the old weapons was still operational, and he had fallen in the perfect way to activate it.

A giant beam of light broke through the lake's surface and shot directly at the dragon's location, piercing it and killing it in an instant.

The few adventurers that had followed Masayuki's party to see the fight against the dragon saw how after being struck to protect his teammate Masayuki had been thrown into the air. But thanks to his great skill with magic he was able to defeat the dragon with one magical beam.

That was the day Lightspeed Masayuki earned the title of Dragon Slayer.
