Isabella and Isaac walked on the cobbled pathway of the village streets, going in random directions as Isabella had not planned a route, but only just wanted to walk around with Isaac and let me see the sights of the village. The air was on the chillier side, and so Isabella would occasionally shiver just a bit, but she would still hold Isaac tightly so that he stayed warm. Isaac took note of this and appreciated Isabella's kindness towards him, but he was much more focused on the sights he saw. Isabella whenever they would pass somewhere of importance would talk about it.
"See this Isaac? This is the village tavern. I really hope you don't grow up to be someone who goes here very often, but they do sell good food and drinks. This is also where hunters and knights mostly stay before they set off to do who knows what. Isabella walks past a building with a huge sign that reads "Royal Oak". The building wasn't terribly large and was about the size of how bars were on Earth, but this tavern did seem to have a second floor for more patrons to come inside or even for those to pay for rooms to sleep in. There was a lit lantern in front of the tavern which made it much easier to see the sign.
"This world has hunters in it? Makes sense since it seems like this world is equivalent to the medieval era of Earth. Do hunters also practice magic, or is that only exclusive to a certain set of people? I wonder if becoming a hunter could earn me a profit in the future. The type of currency this world used was based on coins, and Isaac didn't exactly know how many coins you needed to have to be well off in this world. What Isaac did happen to see was that Isabella when she reached into her pouch she always wore over her shoulder, when doing business whenever Isaac would crawl out of the room into the bakery, was that the coins she exchanged with people who would buy the bread, was always copper in color. Isaac assumed that for loaves of bread, the currency used would have to be of something of lesser value, and there were very few times Isaac saw the silver coins exchanged in the bakery, but the only time a silver coin was exchanged, is when there was a numerous amount of loaves of bread exchanged.
Isabella continued on from the Royal Oak tavern and they both continued walking around until Isaac and Isabella came across a huge building with a set of double stairs going up to it. In comparison to the rest of the village which, wasn't on average dirty, this building was as clean as the surroundings of the church's entrance.
"This is the library. As a little girl, my mother would occasionally take me here to buy me a book for my birthday, we weren't that well off at the time due to the lack of wheat growth during those years, but my mother would still do a lot to let me have a gift. Isabella smiles remembering her deceased mother. "~I also have a friend here who helps me occasionally, she is a powerful mage~". Isabella says in a sing-song type of voice while pinching Isaac's cheeks a little. Unbeknownst to Isabella, Isaac who was currently having his cheeks pinched gained a big smile like he had found one hundred dollars on the ground.
"Jackpot! My mother is a friend of someone who attends this library. They are also a mage! This changes everything. I can possibly learn magic from my mother's friend". Isaac thinks with excitement watching as the sight of the library slowly left his view as Isabella began to walk back to the bakery seeing as how the sky began to darken. Just as Isabella was walking the cobbled pathway, a large noise suddenly echos within the village streets.
"ROOOOAAAARRRR". The roar sounded as if it came from within the front of Isabella and Isaac. Suddenly people were running back the way towards where Isabella and Isaac were walking. Chasing after them like a stalker in the night, was a bipedal creature with black fur on its body, piercing bloodshot red eyes, and claws that looked like they could tear wood into small pieces with one slash. It looked like how the humans back on Isaac's old planet depicted werewolves. The wolf-man hybrid clawed at a man who was running away using its hulking arm and pierced through the man's stomach using the sharp claws on its hands. Scarlet blood spilling from the man's guts onto the cobbled pathway of the village streets, dying it red as more and more blood dripped from the mutilated body. The pure terror in the man's face was etched into the villagers who had seen the cruel fashion of his death. Even more frightening was the look of pleasure that seemed to morph on the creature's face as it stares at the mutilated body hanging from its claws, taking a huge bite and tearing the already dead body into two.
The screams on the street became louder and people began to run even faster to get away from the evil creature that had just killed a human in front of their very own eyes. All except...Isabella was planted to the ground, her legs shaking and becoming weak as she only stared forward mindlessly in fear.
"DAMN". Isaac thought in fear as he saw the creature lock its eyes onto Isabella and him, most likely wanting to get a two-for-one meal without much effort. "We are going to die if Isabella doesn't attempt to run"! Isaac thinks in fear and begins to cry as loud as he could in an attempt to snap Isabella out of her fearful trance. Alas, the crying didn't seem to make Isabella react in any form whatsoever. On the other hand, the creature with its bloodshot eyes locked on the two of them seemed to become even more motivated to attack at the sound of the crying.
The creature began to run on all fours as it jumped into the air, ready to sink its claws into Isabella and Isaac. As Isaac saw the creature approach closer and closer to him, he was experiencing the same desperate feeling he had felt in his previous world. The despair that came with watching his doom approach him, not being able to put up any effort to stop what was coming in front of him. Isaac began to fully cry in what he would think to be his final moments".
"It seems like that no matter the world, I always end up as a dead failure". Isaac thinks, feeling broken from within his heart, knowing that he hadn't been in the world for long, but had already wasted his one and only second chance at life. Isaac closes his eyes, accepting his death and letting his mind run its final thoughts about Isabella. "I haven't had the time to truly appreciate all you have done for me, because I think of myself as a fake son who had taken away your chance of having a baby that will react like how other babies will. I planned to exploit you for my own gain until I could survive on my own in this world. Realizing my thoughts now, I am no different than a parasite that leeches off the nutrients of its host. If I somehow survive this, I'll not only get strong enough to choose how I die, I'll become strong enough to protect the one family member I have now.
The slick tongue of the wolf slipped out of its mouth, showing off its teeth as it had almost completed its pounce towards Isabella and Isaac until a magical blue light descended from the sky swiftly hitting the wolf in the head. A few seconds passed with Isaac's eyes closed, he shivered due to an abnormal drop in temperature, and so he opened his eyes confused as to why he was not dead yet. In front of Isaac and Isabella, was the wolf a few feet away from them, but unmoving due to the ice crystal lodged in its head, piercing its brain. It then slowly fell to the ground, unmoving and cold.
"What a weak lycan". A voice with a slight hint of expressionlessness sounds out from behind Isaac and Isabella. A woman walks past the both of them, slowly approaching the dead body of the lycan before uncovering the hood over her head. When she took the hood off from her head, Isaac could take in full view of what the woman looked like. She had snow-white hair that blew gently in the cool breeze of the cold night sky as if it was a constant state of flow. Her eyes were cobalt blue and held an enchanting texture when viewed for long. Wearing a blue pristine robe that stopped short just of her long brown boots, her fair hands held a silver staff, with a blue crystal stone placed at the top of the staff. The staff had a light blue glow surrounding it like multiple threads of silk, trying to wrap and cover the staff, but only being sustained in a constant orbit from the staff.
The gorgeous woman begins to approach Isabella and Isaac before helping Isabella up to her feet. Staring at Isabella shortly before focusing her gaze on Isaac, he felt as if the woman could see through him to his very soul. Isaac didn't even blink due to how nervous he was feeling due to being stared at by the woman. The gaze the woman had trained on him slowly changes back over to Isabella.
"You okay Isabella? I was coming to your bakery to buy a few loaves of bread before I go on the road to travel and to check up on you. Never would I have imagined that you would be almost killed by a lycan of all things! You know how dangerous it is at night! Why did you not try to run away"!? The woman lays in on Isabella not even giving her the chance to defend herself.
"Who are you to talk to my mother like that"!? Isaac thinks to himself, furious at how the woman was talking to his mother. Isaac was very grateful for the woman saving the both of them, but that didn't mean she could just talk to his mother any way she liked. As Isaac was thinking of things he'd do if he wasn't a baby at this point in time, Isabella clutched him tighter, causing Isaac's focus to shift to Isabella.
"I..I..I.. d-didn't mean t-to". Isabella attempts to speak but her tears hold her back, as her face begins to visibly change into one of sadness. "Kanade, thank you so much". Isabella says to the woman who now felt uncomfortable seeing Isabella crying. The woman sighs before hugging the crying Isabella.
"Just please be more careful Isabella, anybody else in this village can die, but you are the one person I will do anything to not let that happen to. So please stop crying already, Ill even walk you home, would you like that.". Kanade says while staring blankly at Isabella who is now clearing up the tears in her eyes.
Isabella and Kanade both begin to walk on the cobbled pathway, and it isn't soon till Kanade hears celebratory noises in her honor of saving the people of the village.
"That Kanade is the strongest magician our village has! Did you see the way she cast her magic so quick and killed the lycan"!?
"Kanade is not only beautiful, but she's also unbelievably strong".
"Where would our village be without Kanade here? The hunters and knights should be ashamed with how poor of a job they do of protecting us".
Things of all types of nature were said. Isaac had even heard a man say he would put a baby in Kanade so that he could brag about having a powerful mage as a wife. Kanade had long pulled back on her hood, but she was too recognizable in her pristine blue robes, and so many people talked about her as both Kanade and Isabella made their way back to the bakery.
