Kathy's POV
"Eros, Please eat your food." I said, pointing all the green vegetables sitting peacefully on his plate.
He whined, "Mom, I hate vegetables." He said while twirling the untouched vegetables on his plate using his fork.
"You must, so you'll grow up big and strong." I tried to convinced because tricking a smart kid is very hard to do. "You want to grow up to be big and strong, right?"
"Yes."
"Then eat your greens cause when you grow up you don't have to eat any of these anymore,"
"Really?" He raised his eyebrows, feeling amused by the idea of it. "How so?"
"Because you're already grown and tall. Would you like to eat vegetables still? When you're high as a skyscraper?" I chuckled and swallowed my food carefully trying not to choke myself.
"Yes and No. Yes because I want to reach the sky and No because, I know for sure I'll hurt innocent people below me."
And we both laughed inside my office.
Eating inside my office is fun, We usually talk about his performances in school and his friends. After lunch we can play or do his assignments so we don't have to do any of it at home so we can have more time together watching cartoons and eat popcorn.
Eros is such a sweet and smart kid and I wouldn't trade him for anything in this world.
After a few minutes of playing he suddenly felt tired and decided to take a nap. I build a small bedroom inside my office for Eros because whenever he feels sleepy he'll just take a nap inside and I can take a nap too whenever I feel sleepy.
Eros Silently Closed his eyes, while I hummed him a little lullaby. I caressed his face, his nose and touched his hair, Eros really look like his father. Oh, how I missed him but it was for the best that we parted ways and for some reason I'm not interested in dating anyone right now and I'm too tired to entertain people who I don't know.
I slowly walk out to my mini bedroom and sat back on my desk and continue my work again.
Eros really reminds me of my brother and I missed him so much. I missed his warm hugs and small kisses. I missed the way he acts like a child because of his disability and I missed the way we bond at 12 am and slept at 3 am with junk foods in our hands, It was our last memorable bonding. I miss Mom and Dad, even though they have given me a lot of trauma, I still love them they're my parents after all.
Thinking of them made a tear run down on my cheeks, It always makes me sad whenever I think about them.
I sighed and wiped my tears and proceed on my work then I heard a soft knock on my door. "Come in," I said.
My secretary Alice peek her head through the door, "Ms. Hutton, the toy bucks company is here, they're waiting for you downstairs."
"Oh, I'm sorry I forgot. I'll be there just give me a minute." I said and Alice nodded, I stood up from my chair and straighten myself to my whole body length mirror beside my mini bedroom door. I adjusted my hair and tuck a strand behind my ear but it fell anyways. I retouched my make up and adjust my outfit and looked at the mirror one last time, checking if I look presentable enough and quickly head out to the meeting room.
Many men with tuxedos were already inside the meeting room and none of them were familiar to me since they're are our new businesses partner, There were two vacant sits and I sat on the other one. Who would be late in this important meeting?
The meeting goes on and it was all about new ideas of toys that they originally designed and they explained how efficient it is for us and to the buyers. And as a manufacturer we have to study their design, either to disapprove or approve their ideas for the safety of the children world wide.
"We make —" The speaker stop mid sentence when someone unexpectedly opened the door. The speaker's face relaxed as he saw the man to the door just came in,"Excuse me, Ms. Hutton." He smiled at me and look at the person standing at the door, "This is the CEO of Toy bucks Company, Mr. Jack Bonneville."
My breath caught in my throat when I saw a familiar broad shoulders, tall and lean figure. I tried to focus and see who it was since his back was facing me. They all stood up and greeted him and I unexpectedly did too.
"Sorry, I'm late." He turned around and his rock hard face looked at everyone. "Traffic." He excused and cleared his throat.
He was walking around the room and greeted each of one us inside and said his sorry for being late. His face was hard, calm and collected while here I am trying to act professional and calm in front of him. I don't wanna run and hide in the middle of a meeting now, do we?
He greeted, Alice and finally greeted me and his blue eyes meet mine and I stood frozen in my seat, both of us didn't even dared to say something.
Is he going to say something? Because I don't want to make the first move or anything because I don't want to greet him either.
In fact I don't want to be here, I want to disappear.
He slowly walks towards the seat beside me and never left his eyes on me. He's wearing his tight black suit that hugs his muscular figure. He's a little thicker now then before but seeing him again makes my heart skip a beat and my lungs became constricted everytime he took a step closer and it is getting little hard to breath.
"Good morning, Ms. Kathy." He said and finally sat next to me.
-Flashback-
I really need some time alone, just a little peace and quite after hearing all the ruckus back home. I went to the farthest bar in town that I know to have a little drink.
I went inside and sat on a stool Infront of the bartender, the bartender was mixing liquid colors and alcohols that I don't know. All I'm after tonight is beer and I don't have much money with me. The music was loud and soft enough for me to hear people murmuring. Some are laughing and eating but I mind my own business because I have a lot of problems to deal with my own.
"Can I have a large beer please, thank you." I said to the bartender and he nodded.
"One large beer, coming right up." he said and grab a glass mug , filling it up with beer and hand it to me. I drank my beer slowly and stared at the bubbles flying up to the atmosphere of my glass, so very lost in my unfathomable thoughts.
"Big problem you got there, huh?" The bartender said, making me look at him.
I chuckled, while playing the water droplets on the glass. "Is it too obvious?"
"Kind of," He says while drying a variety of wet mugs and shot glasses with clean cloth.
Suddenly a guy sat next to me and I looked at him, he was wearing a suit and tie, black hair and blue eyes. He looked too formal and very decent for a guy with a job to stay in this very cheap bar.
"Do you need anything, Sir?" The bartender ask him.
The black haired guy loosen his tie, he furrowed his eyebrows and his face was hard as a rock and I can't even tell if he's stress or not due to his unexpressive face. "One large beer." He said, his voice was very raspy and he seem like the type of guy who doesn't like talking. He must have feel me watching him so he looked at me and said, "Tough day too?"
No one has ever talk to me before except for the bartender in front of me because it is his job to communicate with costumers and it made me feel uncomfortable. I gave him a sly smile and said, "Yeah."
