Chapter 9 - husband and wife

The maids helped Jen dress in a beautiful white heart shaped bodice gown with flowery patterns, the gown was revealing her beautiful smooth skin at the back and her wine hair was frizzled, the fringe looked perfect as tendrils fell over her face and the bun was adorned with golden and silver hairpins that had the shape of butterflies, leaves and flowers.

Her wrist was adorned with silver and golden bangles, she had diamond necklace on and the diamond earrings. The silver crown was placed on her head and also the makeup looked extremely perfect as her foundation blended perfectly with her skin and she had her lips painted red.

Jen stared at her reflection in the mirror and she couldn't help but gawk at herself, she couldn't believe she was the one in the mirror, she looked like a real princess. She suddenly became nervous, she was going to be with valet for the rest of her lives, she didn't even like the man she hasn't even seen him and now she was getting married to an unknown person.

"My lady it is time" the maid said as she bowed, Jen's face was covered with the veil as they led her to the large hall, Jen kept her chin high in the air as she walked down the aisle, her eyes widened when she saw the groom, a werewolf, why didn't he shape shift into his normal self, was he going to marry her in his wolf form?. She walked closer as she bowed in front of the king who gestured her to get to his side. The werewolf stretched his hand and Jen was reluctant to take it. Was she really going to spend the rest of her life with a wolf?. She placed her hand in his and he pulled her closer as they faced the altar.

"Valet did you take Je, I mean princess Fiona to be your lawfully wedded wife, in health, sickness, wealth, love and happiness?" The priest asked, he almost flopped the whole plan by almost mentioning Jen's name.

"Yes I do" Valet answered, he was so impatient as he want to get the wedding done and leave quickly.

"Princess Fiona, do you take valet to be your lawfully wedded husband, in heath, sickness wealth and happiness?" The priest asked.

Jen became incoherent for a while and everyone awaited her response to the priest. Jen glanced though the veil as she caught sight of the monster she was getting married to, how would she spend the rest of her life with a wolf, that is not going to happen, once she gets married to him she would look for a way to escape from him and go look for her parents, yeah she was going to do that, she couldn't stay with this monster...

"Yes I do" Jen replied.

"You may kiss the bride" The priest said and Jen frowned when she saw him getting closer to her, he was about to kiss her but she turned her face away and there was a loud

Everyone: Ooooooh.

Valet has never been embarrassed in his entire life, he gnashed his teeth in anger as he tightened his hold on her soft hands.

"You are hurting me" Jen whispered but he would hear none of it, how dare the woman embarrass him so much in front of these vampires who were nothing but stupid bats.

when the vows were said and the ceremony was completed, the wedding continued with everyone gliding on the dance floor, having fun, chattering and enjoying themselves while Jen stared down at her hands when she felt valet gaze on her, she knew she embarrassed him before and she knew there was a punishment awaiting her in her new home.

...

The golden carriage was in front of the castle as Jen and valet walked towards it with people throwing rose petals and wishing them happy married life, even if they knew the innocent girl's life was about to be ruined, they couldn't give out their princess and they felt abashed for using the little girl. They just hoped that valet treats her well.

The king most of all was feeling abashed to have done something so outrageous just to protect his daughter and also his Kingdom, he was so self centered and he couldn't do otherwise. He wanted his daughter to get married to someone she loved and not some useless wolf. If Jen was the only way to settle the dispute between the two kingdoms, then why not use her?, it would be an honor to save her kingdom from getting annihilated.

....

The tension in the carriage was very heavy and Jen wanted it to stop but she couldn't strike a meaningful conversation with the werewolf, what if he gets mad at her for asking questions. She lowered her gaze as she fiddled with her white dress. Valet glanced at her, he knew she was very bored sitting in the carriage without talking but he also didn't want to talk to her, the main reason he got married to the princess was to get his revenge on the vampires for killing his sister vera, he knew the princess had nothing to do with the situation at hand but he really couldn't help it, not punishing her would mean he didn't care about his sister's death..

They got to the castle before dusk and valet alighted from the carriage as he stretched his hands for Jen to take, she placed her hands in his as she alighted from the carriage, she looked dazzled at the sight of the castle, expecting it to be as dark as the prince was but it wasn't. The bushes were well trimmed and in so many shapes, her jaw dropped when she caught sight of the fountain, everything looked so magical except that she was going to spend the rest of her life with a werewolf. He pulled her gently and they walked further, Jen's eyes almost popped out when she saw the luxurious furniture and paintings in the castle, she couldn't believe she was really here, it was like a wonderland to her.
