Note from the Author:

This chapter is going to be short, but don't worry I will be publishing a new longer chapter next week.

POV: Kalvin

As our guiding light calapes to the ground after creating a miracle for our people . Only a few days old but somehow stronger then any King in history as she brought the dead back to life. My mind spins as I try to comprehend what just happened. When an anguished cry comes from the mother of our great light.

Her cry seems to snap everyone out of their stuper as they crawl, stumble, and sprint to our fallen savior, our beautiful moon. I watch as her parents support each other to her with what seems like endless raindrops falling from their reddened eyes.

They fall to her side afraid to touch her, afraid to have their worst fear come true. My legs lose their strength and my mind feels at its edge. As our strongest warrior I should have been able to do more, protect more. Our savior shouldn't have had to make a move. An infant saved us while I could do nothing. I bury my head in my hands and cry out.

Self-lothing consumes my mind as I fall further and further into the dark.

Then I hear it. I sharpe intake of breath. The gasp of our people as they watch in awe. The joyous cries and laughter of our people.

At first I'm too afraid to lift my head, afraid that it's all an illusion that will disappear if I look up. I can't gather my courage until my friend grips my shoulder as they kneel beside me. I look them and see the same self-lothing in their eyes, but I also see relief, joy, and most of all an unyielding will for strength.

Enough strength so that next time our guiding light needs us we wont be just a temporary distraction but an indestructible shield, a blade that cuts through their enemies and a gentle reaching hand for our fellows.

I finally gather the courage to look to our savior as I make a solum vow. Next time, we'll be ready. Next time, we will not fall even if the gods themself descend from the heavens to seek out our shinning Moon, they will find their path blocked by our will and our unyielding faith.

"I vow to never fail you again, my one true queen"

As if the heaven heard my oath, I great light erups from my palm leaving behind the symbol of a moon behind a majestic knight that holds both sword and shield. Marking me as the one chosen the stand beside our queen as her protector, as her left and right hands. Her word will be my absolute, I will never question her orders. I will never do her harm and most of all, I will never forgive those who mean her harm.

I am the guardian of the Moon and Stars and I will not fail again.
