Chapter 52 - Chapter 52

Many warriors and knights were injured. Felix was getting clawed from the flying beast. Metuselah covered him protection bubble and with that he was able to rest. Metuselah and Nicholas was busy fighting with the beast. Nicholos and other knights focused on fighting the undead army. Chan and Taek was guarding the bridge so it won't be damaged.

Iowyrthe and Iris decided to just left the peak and coming down. Nearing the bridge, they heard the sounds of the battles, the cries of the beast and the knights, the sound of swords and arrows, and some explosion sound. Iris was terrified of that.

By the end of the magic barrier of Calpara Mountain, Iowyrthe said, "Iris, you wait here, here is the safest. Mana is neutral and it has barrier. Nothing will harm you. After the battle end, I will come and pick you up. I promise." Iowyrthe offered his pinkie and Iris accepted it.

"Be safe and… and… Please come back… I cannot cross the bridge alone."

Iowyrthe cannot hide his delighted expression. He was smiling and feeling relaxed and peaceful. The Princess that he cares about was in a healthy condition and asking him to come back, he couldn't allow himself to not fulfil that request.

"I will. I promise," Said Iowyrthe while he walked towards the bridge.

While he was on the bridge, he froze the time, then he run quickly towards his equipment and took his swords and put on his armour as quick as possible. After that he dropped his skill and started fighting. He joined Nicholos who was fighting undead and used his skill to stop the movement of the undead and his knights will quickly dismantle the undead knights. He also tried to use the skill to the beast but the effect of the time freeze was shorter. However, it was really helpful for Nicholas and Metuselah, so they could catch their breaths.

Iris was hiding behind the rock, but she still heard the sounds. She saw the battle once in a while. She saw wounded knights and one of them was Felix. She really wanted to help but exposing her skill now, in front of the ultimate enemy sight was not a good strategy. They must shift their focus to her if she heals and, in the end, it will make her become the burden again.

She then remembered the prophecy; A black opal holds the key.

"What key? And key to what exactly? What it has to do with the devil. It says I hold the key, but I don't think I have any now. If I want to survive, I guess I have to win from the devil king. I have to think of strategy where I can stay out of radar about my skill. Iowyrthe also said that the terror was more intense since I came. So, it can be concluded that they assume that I already have the key or at least know about it. Later, if he really gives me a piece of land, I should observe the terror, whether it will continue to target me or only the Duke. I will need another hand to run errand if needed. Even though Felix and Metuselah can protect me, and Dr. June will be on standby to cover my health, but still…" She was thinking out loud and random and intense.

With Iowyrthe backing the knights and warriors up, the undead was much easier to tackle and the beast too. Although there were still so many beast and undead army, the knights' spirit was lifted up since Iowyrthe came. They fought with all their might. It resulted the defeat of the undead army and the beast.

Iowyrthe was looking for the enemy's commander but he cannot find him anywhere. He assumed that Ernesti has run away as usual. But not long after that a black arrow was shot. Iowyrthe managed to stop it on time before it touches his neck. Then after that hundreds of arrows were shot randomly at the knights. Metuselah cast a protection bubble and managed to cover most of the knights in the perimeter. Iowyrthe were safe because of his armour.

Seeing the commotion, Felix who was resting was awoken. Felix collected his last power to aim and shoot the most powerful mana he detected and it worked. The rain of arrows was stopped and the sky was clearer. They killed some of the beast and the undead army left. That's when Felix collapsed completely. Metuselah was also exhausted using so much mana.

Iowyrthe decided to stay and camp there. He believed enemy wouldn't come back tonight after that big defeat. He then remembered Iris was still inside Calpara's peak barrier. He then run across the bridge and found Iris was sleeping behind the rock. Her skin looked normal and fresh. Her breathing was normal and her body wasn't cold. He thought the cape was helping even if the magic stone enchantment wasn't working. His heart was grateful and peaceful.
