Eve leaped over the Four Horn Buffalo as Jamie turned to look at Ivan as he stood on the side with the rest, watching the fight. Wayne raised his eyebrows, and stared at the Four Horn Buffalo as it lay on the ground, struggling to get up.
"Fine, the match is over."
Jamie walked over to Vincent who was observing Eve with interest as she made her way over to Jamie's side. Ivan and Wayne broke into conversation as they observed the Four Horn Buffalo which was on the ground still struggling to get up as Roy was berating it.
"Is Roy really a Battlepet Master Trainee?"
Wayne scoffed. "Of course he is. Not everyone wants to pamper the beast they bond with."
Ivan shook his head. "There are very practical reasons for a Battlepet Master and Trainee to spend so much time with our bonded lifeforms, and get along with them. Their often much stronger then us and can tear out our throat without any effort, and we depend on them to survive danger. Mistreating the creatures we bond with, or having no positive relationship with them will result in them turning on us or abandoning us, especially during a life or death moment."
Wayne scoffed. "Says you. It hasn't lashed out at Roy, or abandoned him yet."
"Mark my words, it will. The Four Horn Buffalo was also very slow to react according to the circumstances, like when Eve dodged the Rock Slam. If the Four Horn Buffalo had used it's Rock Barrier after Eve dodged the first attack immediately, the barrier would have gone up in time to stop Eve from attacking the legs."
"Using a skill without the command of the human master? Only a badly trained beast would do such a thing."
Ivan frowned. "As a result of that 'training' the match was lost and the creature would have died had this been a real fight. Which leads me to the final question. Why didn't Roy send the commands through the Astral Bond they established? It certainly would have been faster then saying the commands out loud. They did establish a contract, did they not?"
Wayne sighed. "I'll give you that one. It's a bad habit he obtained from training the beasts at my store, to sell to Martial Warriors of the Hunters Association and mercenaries as companion battle beasts. I was hoping to break him out of the habit."
Ivan's eyes widened. "Your doing that? That's risky. Those types aren't typically willing or able to spend the time required to get to know another creature that can't speak their language before throwing them into danger. The chances of the beast you sell running or lashing out at the owner during a life and death struggle is high."
"I know. Which is why they are strictly trained to follow verbal commands."
Ivan observed Roy, as he fed the Four Horn Buffalo a blue pill and it's injuries slowly started to heal. Ivan frowned.
"Still, it's a bit much to berate the creature when the commands were followed."
Wayne shook his head. "Positive and negative reinforcement. It gets a reward if it wins a fight, and if it loses it gets berated, before it gets healed and getting a smaller meal."
Ivan grimaced. "At the end of the day, your just training and treating the creatures like fighting machines."
"Of course. That is the point of training them, at the end of the day. They aren't human. They are trained solely to protect and fight for humanity."
As Jamie got closer, Vincent reached into is pocket and lightly tossed the Basic Lunar Evolution Stone to Jamie, who caught it with his left hand, and removed a strap from his back bag fro his shoulder, and swung it around his body, then started putting the Basic Lunar Evolution Stone away.
"Nicely done. Can that wolf do anything else?"
"Thanks. She can."
Vincent opened his mouth to speak when Ivan spoke. "So, how about we go tame some Red Moles now?"
A flash of light red light with light blue specks, mingled with a grey light flashed around Ivan. A massive red wolf with two feathery wings appeared, and a grey underbelly. The energy fluctuations of the the Solar Winged Wolf caused the temperature in the surroundings fluctuate, and a gust of wind swept outwards from the Winged Solar Wolf into the surroundings, with the volume of it's energy marking it at stage six. Ivan hopped on the Winged Solar Wolf's back.
Wayne smiled. "I'll see you lot in the center. Roy, remember to stay at the edges, do not go in the center."
"I know."
With a blink of an eye, Wayne could no longer be seen standing near Ivan. Vincent frowned briefly, before he smiled at everyone. "I'll see you all around."
Vincent and Danielle turned around and started walking into the middle of the charred piece of land in the middle of the center, disappeared from sight behind a mound of hardened lava rock as Ivan started speaking to Jamie and Emily.
"At the center of this area is a lava pit that was formed after a Gredidine Warprince was smashed into the ground while assaulted by one of the City Guardian's beasts. The Red Mole likes to dwell close to the middle. Because of the intense heat, and the strength of the creatures, we can not take you both with us. Feel free to explore the outer perimeters of the center. Nicholas will stay with you and keep you safe. Remember, to stay away from the center."
As Ivan spoke, a flash of pink, red and grey light flashed around Lennox, and a large dragon with three different colour heads, red, pink, and grey respectively, appeared. The Chromatic Dragon lowered it's body for Lennox, as a sizzling sound filled the air, along with a rise in heat, and a gust of wind swept out from the Chromatic Dragon, and a sticky feeling filled the air, with the brief energy fluctuating in the air marking it as stage 7.
As Lennox got on the Chromatic Dragon, a burst of red and grey light appeared around Taylor, and a massive red vulture with grey tipped wings appeared around Taylor, and a sizzling sound filled the air, along with a rise in heat, and a gust of wind swept out from the Grey Tip Vulture, it's energy fluctuations marking it at stage 6.
Shortly afterwards, the three Battlepet Master's vanished from sight in a flurry of wings.
Roy started walking off with his Four Horn Buffalo following as Nicholas smiled at Emily and Jamie. "So, where do we head off too?"
Jamie and Emily looked at each other for a moment, before they started grinning. They looked towards the charred, smoldering land in front of them, and started walking forwards.
>>>>>
Emily started grinning after Scott poked his head out of a hollow mountain made from block igneous rock, and Jamie looked around at the black, hilly land around them covered in ash and lava rock, as Blackwing hovered in the air above. So far, as they explored, they hadn't found anyone, person or creature. Nicholas had gone wondering around nearby, with the promise that he would find them if they fired their flare gun to signal that they needed help. He hadn't yet managed to find anything worthwhile either. Emily on the over hand...
"Good job Scott. This Fire Ruby will give me a nice sum."
Jamie looked towards Emily, locking on to the glistening fire ruby in Emily's hands enviously. Emily smirked, waving the Ruby about. "What do you think? Looks nice, doesn't it."
Jamie gritted his teeth.
"Congratulations."
"Don't worry newbie, you will find something eventually."
Jamie rolled his eyes and looked about the landscape. The stood on a relative flat piece of ground, and around them was various mounds made of lava rock, big and small, all around them. Jamie's eyes locked on to a mound of lava rock with a small hole dug in slightly to his right. Jamie sent his thoughts through the bond, as Emily gleefully waved the ruby about in his direction.
"Eve, did you find anything?"
"Not yet. I think there is something in the back though. I just need more time to dig."
Jamie sighed. As he stared at the small mound, Emily put the uncut fire ruby slung into the pink bag at her feet, and slung it back on her back. After putting it back on her back, she glanced at Jamie as she started stroking Scott.
"Don't be so glum. The items I found doesn't even equal to half the value of the Basic Lunar Evolution Stone. I think a Basic Evolution Stone is worth, what, fifty thousand Mystic Credits?"
Jamie as he looked at her. "I had to win a fight get it."
Emily rolled her eyes. "You call that a fight? It was a one sided beatdown. I wish that Roy had challenged me to a fight."
Jamie smiled. "Even if he had, Vincent may not have offered it as a prize. He wanted to see Eve fight."
"Weird."
"How is that weird? There are some rich people with strange hobbies out there."
"Weird."
"Your just salty because you didn't get the Basic Lunar Evolution St...."
"I've found something!"
