Jamie approached the grey, five storey building he had left earlier that day, smiling wryly as he entered. After browsing the Battlenet, he had spent two hours trying to teach to his bonded beasts the way to locate him through the bond, while trying to learn the skill himself. He and Eve managed to learn the trick in under thirty minutes, but Blackwing had failed to. Jamie had eventually left with Eve after putting up the washing, instructing Blackwing to practice the skill while he picked up stuff needed for his two day trip to Bulagd, then heading to the government building to register Eve and her skill that allows her to use different skills at once.
He walked up to the black reception desk. Behind it was a portly man in a suit looking at his mobile phone intently. Jamie tapped on the reception. The man snapped up in shock, hastily putting away his mobile phone, while forcing a smile on his face. "Hello, can I help you?"
Jamie nodded. "I would like to register a new creature and new skill."
"Of course."
The man started typing away on the keyboard, before asking "Can I see your ID please?"
Jamie handed over his Battlepet Master Trainee ID. The man took it and entered the details on the desk. After one minute, he looked up at Jamie and handed him back his ID, before saying "Just take a seat. Someone will be right with you."
Jamie took a seat and waited for two minutes, before Lynch came out of one of the doors. Lynch looked around the reception area briefly, then approached Jamie and said "Are you Jamie?"
"I am."
"Come with me please."
Lynch led Jamie down a couple of corridors, to a tinted automatic double door. Lynch removed a ID card around his neck and swiped it through a ID card slot next to the door, then when the door opened he walked in. Jamie followed him in, and once he was inside, he was gobsmacked. The door opened up to the center of the room, and the room was massive. It was about the size of a football field and the room reached up to the very top of the building. What was even more ridiculous was that there was only three things in the room.
There was a massive black body scanner four quarters the length of the room, plastered up against the walls, nearly reaching the top of the building. There was a silver dummy in the center of the scanner at the far end, half the scanners height. The last object was near the door. It was a black stand that had a small slot in it, with two dim lights above it. On the stand there was a screen and keyboard. Lynch chuckled, seeing Jamie's reaction. Jamie snapped out of his shock, shifting his weight from side to side in embarrassment. Upon seeing Jamie's reaction Lynch smiled and said "Relax. Anyone new to this room has the same reaction. We have the room this size because some beasts are massive. So, you wanted to register the beast with you and one of it's skills?"
Jamie nodded.
Lynch gestured to the scanner. "Just get it to enter the scanner. It doesn't need to go all the way in."
Jamie nodded, and turned to Eve, sending her a mental command. She started to run towards the scanner. While Eve approached the scanner, Lynch approached the screen, ID card in hand. He inserted the ID card into a slot on the stand, and removed it when one of the lights above it turned green. Lynch then typed away on the keyboard. Once Eve was ten meters into the center of the scanner, Lynch said "that's far enough."
Jamie sent a mental command to Eve, and she stopped running.
Lynch entered a command, and the scanner lit up. Gold lights near the top of the scanner started flashing, and a faint gold light swept from one side to the other. It made three sweeps before stopping.
Lynch watched the screen for five minutes after the lights dispersed. He frowned, typing on the keyboard, then turned to Jamie."it's not in our system. How did you obtain it, and did you evolve it to get to this state?"
"She has been with the family as far back as I can remember. My dad found her, but he's dead. I don't know where he found her. At stage one, I used the basic evolution stones of air, fire, water, and earth to evolve her, letting her reach stage three immediately afterwards."
Lynch stood frozen still for a moment. Eventually, he blinked and rubbed his face. After a couple of seconds had passed he lowered his hand and asked "Do you know anyone who might know where he found it, and would be willing to answer a couple of questions?"
"My Mom might know. She should be willing to."
"Great. I'll give you a form, just get her to fill it out. You don't need to drop if it off here personally if you don't want to. I'll give you an email address, you can just scan it and send it in. Do you have an image of the species before evolution?"
"I have a picture on my phone. "
With that, Jamie pulled his phone out of his pocket, opening up his images folder while taking a couple of steps towards Lynch. He showed to Lynch an old photo of his Mum and Dad sitting down on blue park bench on vibrant green grass, with the sun setting behind them. His mum was wearing a dark green sleeveless dress with her wavy long red hair cascading down her back. His dad was wearing a slightly loose blue shirt with black jeans, and his black hair was in a crew cut.
His mum was leaning into his dad and his arms wrapped behind her. They were both smiling, with their emerald and striking blue eyes directed towards the camera. At their feet was a black pup looking upwards, laying down forwards with her tongue lolling, and tail up. Upon seeing the photo, Lynch's eyes widened for a second before he closed them. He forced a smile to his face. He said "Great. That will do fine. Send it via Bluetooth."
After Lynch received the file, he then tapped on the keyboard. Once he was done, He then turned to Jamie. "What are it's food preferences, and behavior patterns?
"She likes meat. I thought she was a dog right until the moment she bonded with me. However, she's really smart, like talking to a human, before evolving."
Lynch eyes widened, before turning to the screen again and entering the data. Once he was done he turned back to Jamie and said "what skills did it have before evolving?"
"She could heal things with her paw, move instantaneously, and move things with her mind."
He entered the data then faced Jamie. "What about after evolving?"
"She could form Black Smog around her body, empower her bite, and use a skill that allows her to use two other skills at once. That last one was the new skill I wanted to register."
Lynch stood frozen for a moment. He then snapped out of it, and asked "Could you elaborate on the last skill you mentioned please."
Jamie nodded. "She can use two skills, regardless of their clashing elements, as long as they are released from different points of her body. However, the energy cost for those skills are doubled."
Lynch turned around and typed on the keyboard. When he was done, the scanners started to hum, and faint golden light suffused everything inside the scanner. He then turned to Jamie and asked "can you ask it to use that last skill?"
Jamie gave a mental instruction to Eve. The tips and rings of her tails started to change color, one tail changing to black, another to brown. She opened her jaw and moved forwards 5 meters instantaneously, then closed her jaws.
Jamie eyes widened and he mentally sent to Eve "I think your dash range has increased again."
Eve's tails started wagging."Great."
Jamie turned to Lynch, who was frowning, while he was looking at screen while typing on the keyboard. As Lynch was typing on the keyboard, he said to Jamie.
"You can get 5 AGP for registering a new species, 2 for giving detailed information about the species, and 5 for registering a new skill. 10 AGP has been sent to your account. I'll pass you a form and email contact, once your mum has filled it out and you have sent it in, you'll receive another 2 AGP.
Jamie nodded. He mentally asked Eve to come back, then stood there hesitating. He eventually asked "Can I change the AGP to Mystic Credits?"
Lynch nodded. "You can. 1 AGP is worth one thousand Mystic Credits. I would not recommend you doing that however, unless you urgently need the money."
"Why?"
"Because people are more likely to sell anything unique to the government then private businesses. Which means, your more likely to obtain the stuff you may need from the government."
Jamie stood there hesitating. Lynch smiled and said "You can transfer the AGP to credits any time you want."
Jamie nodded. "Okay, I'll transfer it later."
Just before Lynch was done, he paused and asked "Would you like to name the species and skill?"
Jamie's paused, before responded asked "According to Eve, her species name is called Evernight Wolf. As for the skill, I don't care."
After Lynch was done, he led Jamie to the reception while pulling out a contact card from his pocket and handing it to Jamie on the way. Once they arrived at reception, Lynch grabbed a form from the desk and handed it to Jamie. Afterwards, Jamie left, heading to Munchers Paradise to meet up with John.
