Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: -Development Project : CVR (3)

-Experiment Subject 26: Ki Myeong-

Those words were inscribed onto a plate at the bottom of the glass tube. It was a necessary addition as the prominent substance within the tube meant that it was impossible to distinguish anything within the chamber.

Myeong stared at it, it was rather tall and stared back at him menacingly, at least it felt that way.

Without hesitation, the two masked men gripped Myeong by his arms and lead him to a ladder at the side of the glass tube, Myeong resistively went up the ladder and looked in front of him.

He was struck with awe, he realized for the first time just how massive the room was. It was less of a room and more of a cavernous space, it was mesmerizing.

However, the moment was interrupted by a sudden realization; as Myeong looked around, he noticed that the valley in front of him was filled with row upon row of glass tubes, stacked high as far as the eye could see. And within each tube, he could make out the vague shape of what looked like a human figure. Myeong couldn't be sure if he was hallucinating, but the longer he looked, the more convinced he became that he was surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands, of people trapped in these tubes.

Furthermore, he acknowledged that he was soon about to join them. Fear quickly sank into Myeongs mind, he tried to retaliate, "I won't-" but at the corner of his eye, he felt a shadow teleport behind him almost instantly, pushing him into the tube, he raised his hands to embrace the impact of the push but it was futile.

He watched the mask of the girl with brown hair from earlier as she stared at him as he fell.

"Don't get on my nerves,"

"That was rather unnecessary wasn't it?" Mistress replied rather disappointingly,

The anonymous woman spoke with a serious tone. "Remember, this was the guy that killed Agma. He could have run away or fought back."

Mistress brushed off her concerns. "You worry too much. I made sure to weaken him beforehand. I'm pretty sure he realized it too, which is why he didn't try to escape."

"Giving people false hope is cruel, even for you," the anonymous woman replied, her tone laced with disapproval.

Mistress just chuckled. "Oh, come on. It's all part of the game. Besides, he's not the first and certainly won't be the last. You know how this works. Though, he is going to be part of our faction after all, being nice to him isn't too bad. If you haven't realized but Agma was one of our top-ranking officers, although he was very crazy and practically insane from the experiment; the experiment definitely caused huge enhancements and the personal training we gave him was top standard. Do you know where I am going with this?" Mistress spoke.

"You think he could surpass Agma?" the anonymous woman spoke shockingly, she furrowed her brows in concern. "What are you planning?" she asked, her tone cautious.

Mistress smiled slyly. "I want to accelerate his training, push him to his limits. He could become one of the strongest assets we have."

"But what about the risks? If we push him too hard, he could end up like the others," the anonymous woman protested.

Mistress shrugged nonchalantly. "We'll monitor him closely. And if he does fail, well, there's always the next one. Also, think about the potential, if this goes right, we have everything to gain!"

"What do you have in mind?"

"We let him sit in the torture chamber for a month."

"You do realize it usually only takes 1 minute for someone to go insane right?"

"Yes, but this youngling is very strong-minded he won't break that easily!"

Myeong felt confused. His thoughts began to feel more and more corrupted; quickly felt more and more enraged. Hope was slowly draining, and the nightmare had only begun. Whereas the liquid he was surrounded with, slowly began rising.

"Is anyone still there?" He shouted.

Silence.

The transparent glass had long disappeared, and Myeong's mind hallucinated the deep depths of the ocean.

Trapped within the confines of the glass tube, Myeong floated aimlessly. The darkness that enveloped him was suffocating, leaving him struggling to breathe. Every breath he took seemed to consume what little oxygen was left, adding to the looming sense of dread. The only thing he could perceive was the inky blackness, and the only thing he could feel was the same void, save for the occasional bubbles that escaped his lips. At that moment, he was certain that death had claimed him, and that the darkness would be his home.

Frantically, he kicked his legs, trying to push himself toward the surface of the glass tube. But it was as if he was trapped in a bottomless pit, his efforts futile and unyielding. He remembered the exterior of the glass tube, yet he was unable to reach its edges as he thrashed about. The realization that he was trapped in a boundless, impenetrable prison set in, sending waves of terror coursing through his veins. He was trapped, helpless and alone, in a never-ending expanse of emptiness.

Myeong's mind raced as he tried to comprehend his situation. "Why me?" he thought, the weight of despair settling heavily on his shoulders.

A surge of frustration suddenly overtook him, and he screamed out in agony, his voice echoing in the sterile room.

Gasping for air, he felt like he was suffocating under the crushing pressure. It was as if he was on the brink of death, and just as he thought he couldn't take it anymore, he blacked out.

But there was no reprieve, no escape from this living nightmare. As he regained consciousness, he realized that he had been healed, his body restored so that he could endure the torture once again.

Over and over, the cycle repeated, each time eroding away a piece of his soul.

Myeong couldn't catch a break. Every time he fainted from the searing pain, he woke up to suffer it all over again. It was excruciating, and the fact that he had no control over it made it even worse. He could barely feel his limbs anymore.

Time moved at a glacial pace within the chamber. Although it had only been a few seconds since he had been locked inside, it felt like an entire year had passed. Myeong couldn't help but wonder why he had been chosen for this torment.

"Why me?" he thought, his mind a maelstrom of confusion and fear.

The voices sounded like they were coming from all directions, echoing off the walls of the chamber. The whispers were like daggers to his mind, he fought to keep his mind from succumbing to the onslaught, but as the voices grew louder and more chaotic, his strength waned.

"SHUT UP!"

In a fit of desperation, he let out a piercing scream that reverberated throughout the ocean, drowning out the whispers and leaving him gasping for air. Tears streamed down his face as he clutched his head, trying to dispel the echoes of the voices that lingered in his mind. The silence that followed was almost palpable and felt almost misleading.

Myeong opened his eyes, he glanced around.

Nothing.

Abruptly, Myeong felt a deep, ominous rumbling beneath him. The violent vibrations shook the water around him, stealing his breath in an instant. The pressure intensified with each passing second, causing a growing sense of terror to well up inside him.

Myeong felt a sudden disturbance in the water, as if something massive was approaching him. He turned around to see the source of the disturbance, and his heart skipped a beat. A dark shadow was looming in the distance, growing larger and larger by the second. As it drew closer, he could make out the form of a creature, unlike any he had ever seen before.

It was easily twenty meters long and had a long, serpent-like body covered in tough, leathery skin. Its head was the size of a small car, with two beady eyes that glowed a menacing red in the darkness. Jagged rows of razor-sharp teeth lined its massive jaws, creating an inescapable prison for any of its unlucky victims.

It effortlessly charged at Myeong, mouth gaping open, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth glinting in the dim light, ready to swallow him alone. Myeong felt helpless, there was no way he could ever hope to defend against such a monstrosity. He had neither his weapon nor any willpower to fight back. With a sense of resignation, he closed his eyes and awaited the inevitable embrace of death.
