Chapter 14 - The Promise; Horrors of War

chapter 14

Eiji could feel himself going in and out of consciousness as he laid there on ground dying the area around him crimson. He winced in pain as the blotches spread across his vision.

'This so...isn't happening. I can't afford to die here. Too much is at stake. There are still people who I must protect n-no matter what.' He thought weakly.

Takuya looked at the young man and placed a smile on his face. it was obvious who the victor of this battle was. He smirked as he crossed his arms. Eiji was a powerful shinobi for sure but at the end of the day he was no match for him.

'Ruka I'm sorry, I won't be able to keep that promise after all.' Eiji thought as he began to think about the promise, he made weeks ago.

…..

Three weeks ago

Ruka looked up to Eiji and stared onto his purple eyes. Her heart fluttered as he gave her the brightest smile she had ever seen. "I love you, Ruka."

"I love you too, Eiji-kun." The brunette said as she returned his smile. Her heart raced as he placed a hand on the side of her face.

"I want you to make me a promise."

Ruka wondered what he wanted her to promise him but knew that it was Eiji, so she nodded. "Of course."

"When all of this is over, let's travel the world. No battles. No death. No missions. Just you and me."

Ruka grasped the hand that was touching her face and smiled at him sweetly. "I promise." She spoke.

The shinobi knew that Kiri was heading into war with Kumo. Not even Darui could stop this upcoming war. He had promised to declare war on them if anymore of his men were killed by them.

Ruka leaned up and pressed her lips against his. With war looming the couple took a moment to just enjoy being with each other because pretty soon they wouldn't have time for one another. If Eiji had Ruka he believed he had the power to do anything. he would protect those precious to him no matter what.

end of flashback

Takuya widened his eyes as Eiji rose from the ground. he couldn't believe what he was seeing. He was supposed to be down for the count. 'I saw it myself. He was pierced through by my lightning, he's still bleeding, so how in the world is he still standing?' The Kumo shinobi wondered.

Eiji grinned before going through hand seals.

'This very well may be my final Jutsu....its a shame...Rikuto-Sama please look after Ruka.' he thought as he finished his hand seals. "Water Release; Droplet Festival!"

Takuya immediately activated his lightning cloak as thousands of water droplets about the size of a fist began to rain down. When the droplets rained down, they created multiple small circle sized holes in the ground below them. It was only thanks to his speed that he got out of that unscathed. he flickered a few feet away as the Jutsu appeared to be finished. He watched as Eiji fell to the ground headfirst into his own blood.

'If I didn't have my speed id be toast. Damn him.' He thought before leaving the enemy's body and heading towards the nearest enemy, joining his comrades.

With Ruka

Ruka jumped to the right and left as she evaded a flurry of shuriken sent her way. Her eyes widened as she heard the familiar sound of metal slicing through air, jumping out of the way the kunoichi eyed her latest foe. He appeared to be an average man with raven hair and silver eyes. Slowly she retrieved a kunai knife from her pouch on her right thigh before getting into a battle-ready stance. The enemy was quiet as he flickered to her position. she didn't have time to even be surprised as her kunai collided with his sword causing sparks to rain between them. Briefly they're blades parted ways before they're weapons kissed once more. They went like this for a while as the two shinobi tried looking for an opening.

'This guy is good. However, he has to try better than that if he wants to get rid of me!' She thought before they both jumped back.

....

"Yosuke." Rikuto said as he eyed the kumo force of over 12,000 men. Briefly he maneuvered out of the way of a series of punches and kicks followed by a barrage of kunai and shuriken being sent his way.

"Step back."

The older Shinobi wondered what he had up his sleeve, he didn't question him as he had complete trust in the young man. Yosuke jumped away as Rikuto summoned a Rasengan to his right hand.

'A Rasengan? What's he planning to do with that? What could one Rasengan possibly do?' Yosuke wondered as he stared at his comrade with a bit of worry in his eyes.

Rikuto rose the hand that had the Rasengan in his hand into the sky and slowly the energy within his hand grew at least ten times in size.

Yosuke widened his eyes. 'Damn!'

Rikuto wasn't done as it would seem. His Rasengan began to swirl with frost and the area began to get colder as well. Pretty soon the Rasengan was swirling with frosty wind. The young Uzumaki jumped in the sky and giving a Shout he proceeded to leap towards his enemies. The effect was immediate. When the Rasengan touched his enemies, they turned into ice and as he pushed his jutsu even further the land around him created iceberg which pierced the enemies' bodies.

Yosuke was at a loss of words. Rikuto had just taken out most of the enemies with one jutsu alone. He didn't have time to count the number of Shinobi he had just taken out, but he was sure it was over a thousand. This boy had become even more impressive as he aged. He truly was a prodigy.

'Hes definitely the same Ol' Rikuto-Sama.' He Thought as he smiled briefly.
