Chapter 3 - Training and the Truth

Chapter 3

...

Rikuto smiled as he ran around one of the many parks within Kirigakure no sato. Mei laughed as she watched her grandson have fun. It had been five years since Haku and Zabuza's death and 1 year since the 4th great ninja war ended. She had trained him to use his chakra, just basic chakra exercises like the leaf exercise.

Mei planned to get serious with his training in another year or so. For now though she would let him have his fun. The former Kage knew that Rikuto wasn't dumb, he obviously knew that other children his age had mothers and fathers while he did not. He knew despite having her she wasn't his mother.

Rikuto always referred to her as baachan. She knew there would be a day when he asked about his biological family. She was mentally preparing for that because she knew he was gonna be upset when he discovered he had family in Konoha. Mei didn't want to keep him away from his father but she didn't want Rikuto to get hurt because he wasn't trained enough.

"Baachan!"

Mei blinked coming out of whatever she was thinking about, looking at Rikuto she saw him pouting.

"Tag." Rikuto simply said

She laughed and scratched the side of her face. "Sorry about that Riku-chan, guess I got distracted."

Rikuto ran to her and touched her leg before running away. "Your it! See ya later Baachan!"

"Agh! Get back here you little runt!" Exclaimed Mei as she chased after her grandson.

…..

A year later Mei decided to further Rikuto's training, she decided firstly that he needed a taijitsu style. He seemed adept at Taijutsu as he easily picked up on the hand to hand combat he was taught. While she trained Rikuto how to defend himself she also taught him how to use simple Jutsu like the Clone Jutsu and even a few genjutsu.

Now Rikuto was by no expert at Genjutsu but he picked up on it easy enough. Mei was sure he would become a powerful ninja having both Naruto and Haku's blood flowing in him. Not too long after she decided to get serious about his training she decided to teach him a few elemental Jutsu. She taught him a few water Jutsu. He learned them almost immediately. No surprise there considering who his mother was.

Mei made him train the techniques he knew to perfection, his Taijutsu, the clones, the genjutsu and the water Jutsu he knew and by the time she was gonna teach him something else something she was dreading happened.

….

3 years since Mei increased his training

Mei widened her eyes as she saw Rikuto with Ice hovering above his hands.

"Baachan…this is…it's one of the Kekkai genkai you mentioned." Said Rikuto

Mei also taught him about the history of their world, from things like the four great ninja wars to chakra and Kekkai genkai and even the Kage and Jinchuriki.

"Baachan…who were my parents?" Rikuto frowned sadness in his eyes. "Did they not want me?"

Mei sighed. "That's…I know for sure your mother loved you with all her heart." She said before explaining what her mother did and how Naruto didn't even know he existed.

"She knew she was gonna die? That's why she had Zabuza use the womb growth jutsu?"

"I imagine she suspected it." Mei said.

"My father?"

"Loved your mother dearly, he was devastated when he found out she died. Anyway that's what my contact in Konoha told me." Said Mei. "I'm sure if he knew about you he'd love you as if he loved no other."

"How come he doesn't know about me, though?" Rikuto wondered

"Well Haku had just given birth that day." Said Mei with a frown. "Zabuza contacted me and not long after they went to get rid of their enemies which was your father and his team, I arrived to see you crying on a bed. Haku never told your father she was with child."

Rikuto didn't know how to feel, just moments ago he thought he didn't have a family aside from his grandmother and now he finds out he was the son of two powerful ninja? One, who was still alive.

"There's more." Said Mei. "Your father, Naruto-Kun has settled down, he has a son. Boruto."

"A brother….Baachan why did you keep all of this away from me? Did you think I didn't want to know more about my family?"

Mei shook her head. "No, that's not it. I just didn't want you to die young like your mother did. I just want you to be able to protect yourself and others if you choose."

Rikuto didn't feel any hatred for his grandmother, all she wanted to do was protect him and she did just that and he had a lot of fun training with her.

"So what's next? Can you teach me how to use Hyouton?" He asked

Mei looked surprised she hadn't expected him to forgive her so easily, he didn't even seem mad.

"No, unfortunately I don't know any Futon Jutsu and in order to learn Hyouton you need to combine both Futon and Water." She said. "Once you get a grasp on your Hyouton abilities I promise I'll personally go with you to your father. I can even see about letting you go on a few missions."

Mei grunted as Rikuto ran to her and hugged her. The older ninja smiled.

"Thank you baachan."

"Sure thing kiddo, I don't know about you but I sure could go for some dumplings right about now how about you? Are you hungry?"

Rikuto's face turned red as his stomach rumbled. Yeah he could definitely go for some food right about now.

"That settles it. Off to Tenko's Dango shop it is!" Exclaimed Mei as she began walking. Rikuto looked at her before following after her.

…..

Rikuto glanced at Mei who seemed excited as she watched the chef cook the dango. He then glanced at the shop's tv.

TENSIONS ARE AT AN ALL TIME HIGH BETWEEN KIRI AND KIUMO ON A RECENT MISSION TO KIRI, A KUMO NINJA KILLED A KIRI NINJA. THE MIZUKAGE AND RAIKAGE SEEMED TO WORK THINGS OUT BUT HOW LONG WILL IT BE UNTIL WAR BREAKS OUT? IS THIS THE START OF THE NEXT GREAT NINJA WAR?

Rikuto frowned. War…he heard a lot about it from Mei. In war a lot of lives are lost and the families are left to pick up the pieces. He hated the sound of something like war, he hoped War didn't break out. It would be stupid as they had been at peace since the end of the 4th great ninja war.

"Order up!"

Rikuto looked in front of him to see a plate of a few dango sticks in front of him. He looked at his grandmother who dug right in. He shrugged his shoulders before digging in as well.

…..

Mei smiled as she saw Rikuto sleeping soundly, his chest rising and falling. She closed the door to his room and used a water body flicker, a moment or two she arrived at the Mizukage tower .She walked inside and headed inside the Mizukage office.

"Terumi-sama." Said Chojuro the current Mizukage, surprised to see her.

"I have a request Chojuro-kun." Said Mei

"Of course. Anything for a former Kage." Said Chojuro

"My grandson, he's…we'll he's getting stronger, already he's at the level of a chunin."

Chojuro widened his eyes. "Isn't he only nine?"

Mei nods. "But obviously he has no experience, so I was thinking if he could tag along on a few missions with your Ninja."

"Hm….if your suggesting it he must be formidable, very well. I'll allow it, but only because it's you asking, Terumi-sama."

"Thank you Chojuro-kun, this really helps." Said Mei

Chojuro smiled. "When do you want him to have his first mission?"

"I'd say a few months from now. I plan to have his wind nature instructor to visit us for a few months."

"Oh and who would that be?" Chojuro was curious as Wind was a very rare Chakra nature.

"Subaku no Temari."

Chojuro chuckled lightly. Things would be more interesting that was for sure, there was Trouble with Kumo, he really hoped Rikuto didn't have to go through the horrors of war like they did.
