Chapter 53 - Chapter 53

"I wonder why."

One of the ladies mumbled under her breath, rolling her eyes at Lady Melissa.

Lady Melissa, however, heard what the Lady had said.

"Would you mind repeating that?"

Lady Melissa had a frightening smile on her face, knowing that she would humiliate the Lady.

"What do you mean, Lady Melissa?"

The lady confidently replied, acting as if nothing had happened.

"What you said just now, would you mind repeating what you said?"

Lady Melissa repeated her question once again, her sinister and frightening smirk unchanging on her face.

"H-huh? I said nothing."

This time, the Lady replied. However, she sounded much less confident and brave than how she had previously sounded.

"No, I heard you say something. If you don't say it, then I will."

The Lady started to feel the pressure and the rage and anger coming off of Lady Melissa.

"You must've misheard Lady Melissa. I didn't say anything."

The Lady responded. It was apparent how nervous she was, her voice sounded stutter, and her body shook a little.

Just as Lady Melissa was about to say something, another Lady had decided to step in.

"Lady Melissa, why are you bullying her? She said nothing, so stop bullying and humiliating her!"

The second Lady said, her voice full of arrogance.

'Great, another pest to deal with.'

Lady Melissa wanted to roll her eyes at the second Lady, but she knew she couldn't, at least not in front of an audience like this.

"Do you have any proof that she didn't talk about me?"

Lady Melissa said, pointing her finger at the first Lady.

"Why does that even matter?"

The second Lady said, believing that she would win the argument against Lady Melissa.

"It matters because I said so. Now would you like to stop being in my way?"

Lady Melissa asked politely, but you could tell that she was starting to get agitated and annoyed, and there was venom in her voice.

The second Lady, though, didn't react to Lady Melissa's actions; instead, she just continued to defend the First Lady, going so far as to stand in front of the Lady to 'protect' and 'shield' her from Lady Melissa.

Lady Melissa just walked closer and closer towards the both of them, putting her face nearer to them before whispering something.

When both of the ladies heard Lady Melissa's words towards them, their pupils had gotten bigger, almost as if they were scared of something or someone.

Lady Melissa turned her back from the both of them, walking back to her initial seat.

"We can continue the tea party, Ladies!"

Lady Melissa said with a cheerful and bright smile, scaring the ladies off for what she had said to the other ladies that had made them so scared or frightened by her.

Though Lady Celine didn't look any bit scared or frightened, instead, Lady Melissa could see the glimmer of interest in Lady Celine's eyes.

"I'll pour some tea for you, Lady Melissa!"

Lady Celine cheerfully said.

Lady Celine, who was on the other side of Lady Melissa's seat, took the teapot, heading to Lady Melissa's seat.

"Thank you, Lady Celine!"

"No problem, Lady Melissa!"

Lady Celine casually replied.

Just as Lady Celine was about to pour the tea into Lady Melissa's glass, someone had tripped her, and she had spilt all the burning hot tea to Lady Melissa's dress by accident.

"I'M SO SORRY, LADY MELISSA, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT."

Lady Celine shouted. She was embarrassed and humiliated, and there were going to be rumours now about her etiquette lessons.

Lady Melissa knew it was an accident, though, and she could see the embarrassment and humiliation from Lady Celine's eyes. Unless she was that good of an actor, Lady Melissa believed she did it by accident.

"Oh, it's fine, no worries, Lady Celine!"

Lady Melissa said, her voice sounding cheerful.

However, Lady Melissa's body had a few burn marks, and the scorching hot tea had hurt her body a bit.

"No- I'm so sorry, please come here, Lady Melissa. I have a change of dresses you could use."

Lady Celine said, still feeling guilty over what she had accidentally done to Lady Melissa.

"No, it's fine, Lady Celine."

Lady Melissa said.

"No, I insist, Lady Melissa."

"Alright then."

Lady Melissa gave in. After all, she didn't exactly like her dresses being wet.

Sophia followed behind Lady Celine and Lady Melissa.

"I'm so sorry, Lady Melissa, it was an accident. Please forgive me."

Lady Celine said, bowing her head down.

"Don't worry, Lady Celine, you've been nothing but kind ever since I arrived, I believe you, and don't worry, it's just an accident. Everyone makes accidents. So I forgive you."

Lady Melissa said, and Lady Celine's face had cheered up hearing her words.

"Anyways, Lady Celine, did you like the little gift I gave you?"

Lady Melissa asked, hoping that Lady Celine did indeed liked her gift.

"Oh yeah! See, I even brought it with me!"

Lady Celine then showed the bag that Lady Melissa had given to her.

"I'm planning to eat it later."

Lady Celine said with an excited look on her face.

"Oh yeah, by the way, where are we going right now, Lady Celine?"

Lady Melissa asked. After all, they had been walking for the past few minutes.

"We're going to my room, and there's a hidden pathway I use, so the walk won't be as tiring as you and your maid had just now."

Lady Celine said, giving a wink to Lady Melissa.

"But don't tell the other ladies, though. It's meant to be a secret."

Lady Melissa did a zip motion on her lips, making Lady Celine laugh a bit.

After a few more minutes of walking, Lady Celine went left when they had initially gone right.

After turning left, Lady Celine had to go through a maze before finally arriving at the Mendora estate.

"We're here."

Lady Melissa and Sophia were impressed. Though the shortcut was a little complicated and confusing, it was much faster than the original route that they had taken.
