Chapter 8 - Lunch

After this, we didn't say anything to each other and continued to do our own thing with the only sound in the bathroom splashing water.

However, the odd thing was that Ligh would glance at me from time to time for an unknown reason that I could only guess on my mind.

Is there anything wrong with my face? Or is it because I stopped making an emotionless face in front of my former enemy?

Well, who cares? She will eventually get used to this unique trait of mine as we spend more time together.

I can't shame the Xanthos family by not keeping an agreement, can I?

Since my attire was dirty from the earlier activity, the maid had given me a new outfit.

Some people might find it suspicious, but Fynn or Eloria must have sent someone to get a new set of clothing for me.

They sure know my fashion taste very well. Dark blue baggy pants and a sleeveless white shirt allowing people to see the 'Levi Xanthos' and 'Ariel Xanthos' tattoo on my right arm.

Just like me, Ariel also has my name beside hers.

Because of our tradition, everyone in our family has a tattoo with their name on their right or left arms. However, in our case, if you are extraordinarily close with your sibling, you can put her or his name.

And this explains why people recognize me anywhere I go. Quite convenient...

After everyone made themselves comfortable around the dinner table, Eloria broke the silence.

"Do you like your new outfit? Otherwise, we can always get you another one."

"There is no need to bother yourself like that. I love it. Thank you." Although the smell of grilled pork with fire slime sauce is teasing me, I must yield to the temptation.

Ligh chuckled as if knowing my inner thought. "Let's eat already."

Just when I gave her a thankful look, Ligh smiled back at me which didn't escape her parents' sight.

"Well, you have done it again, darling. Blame your cooking skill." While teasing his wife, Fynn showed off his pride in being the husband of a chef.

"Let's not give our guest a hard time any further." Eloria attempted to maintain a normal face, but Fynn's compliment didn't leave her indifferent.

Father would bow down in front of this master of seduction.

As we folded our hands, I prayed along with everyone in this room.

"Our dear Lord Honos, bless all those gathered here today. We thank thee for this food. Feed our souls on the bread of life and help us to do our part in kind words and loving deeds."

In the Zuvia Kingdom, we worship Honos, the god of chivalry, who is believed to have saved the country from a disaster-level magical beast.

According to Eros, gods can't stay in the mortal realm, so my views on any religion are clear-cut — they are just false gods.

Nonetheless, praying before eating isn't that bad since I can practice gratitude.

At the end of the meal, my lips turned red due to the spicy fire slime sauce.

After this, Ligh and I went to her bedroom to rest.

There weren't many things I could do in my tired state so I leaned back on her small couch.

Similar to a princess room, it was as big as my house with a balcony to enjoy a nice view or observe the stars at night.

Peaceful and spacious, coming here to chill when Ariel isn't home doesn't seem like a bad idea...

Sitting beside me, Ligh said with her eyes still riveted on her book. "You like my room?"

Seeing me nodding my head, she continued, "Then, I don't mind if you come here regularly to relax. By the way, what do you want to do this afternoon?"

Am I so easy to read like an open book? I didn't believe Ariel at first, but now, this must be true.

"Umm... maybe we can go out for a stroll."

The atmosphere in the room became even more peaceful as we didn't say anything to each other and just enjoyed the moment.

The sunlight passing through the windows added to the ambiance and the sound of Ligh turning a page of her book would make me more relaxed and my eyes heavier with each passing second.
