Chapter 16 - Why didn't you wedge my fall?

"And you took your precious time in answering to my calls." The boss raised a brow when I finally decided to walk into his office.

"Can you blame me for that? Forced to be in a group I would rather not be in, do you think I'll happily come running when you call?" I scoff.

"Think what you may, but you're in this with me, and will forever be until we're through with this project." He smirked devilishly.

"You think so?" Scoffing, I sit opposite him," You might not know this, but I don't intend to be here after am through with my task, and I intend to complete it next week."

I've covered countless works by working both at home, and in the office. This I did to enable me to complete my task before the elapsed of the month.

"Even at that, you're going to be here until we complete the project. This isn't a request, it's an order." He said in a tone that's supposed to make me shiver in fear, but I scoffed instead of shivering like expected.

"An order?" I laugh at that, "you know, you're not going to be my boss the moment I submit the files." I smirk at him, "I've already uploaded the databases I created, and it's working."

" You're not going anywhere until I sign the files, and I won't do that until the project has being completed."

" Are you threatening me with that?"

" Take it as whatever you will. I don't care at all." He pushed the file in front of him towards me," you can read through the things I wrote there. Those are what we're going to do for our project."

Looking at the file in front of me, I push it to the side, folded my arms, and leaned closer to him.

" Why do you want me in your group?" I asked I've been thinking on ever since BB gave me back the paper. "You said you don't mind whom you're working with, but you rejected BB."

The more I tried to think on the reason for that, the more I come up with nothing. It seems I'm trying to grasp on to empty air.

" I would rather not work with her." He leaned on his chair, expertly creating a notable distance between us, "who would like to have a gossiper in their office? Not me, I tell you."

" That's good." Smiling to myself, I relax on the chair I was sitting on.

Now I've known the reason he rejected BB in his group, it's not too difficult to pick out whom to….

" What's good?" He raised a brow.

"I know whom to exchange my paper with…"

" Don't you dare!" He growled," You're in my group already."

" Well, I would rather not be in your group. I prefer being in Dozzy's group than to be here."

At least with Dozzy, I can have the peace of mind I deserve, while having a fun time with them.

" Why do you want to be in that group? What's so special about the group?" He asked in a tone of voice I'll never for once, associate with the boss.

The tone he made use of is one that sounds like a child asking the mother why she divorced the father.

"Dozzy is in that group." I truthfully answer.

In this office, aside from BB who have a natural way with others, Dozzy is the only one am familiar with.

Not only that, but he also happens to be the brother of the man I love.

"You're not changing your group, and that's final." He stood from his chair, "you're dismissed for today. You can take the file with you."

" See you then." I took the file from the table, and walk out of the door.

I begged and pleaded with all the workers who're in the project with us, but none of them agreed to exchange with me.

Should I so much as mention the boss, they'll give so much reason why they don't want to be in the same group with the boss.

"I heard this from BB," Dozzy sat next to me.

"What did you hear from BB?"

"The boss threatened to sack anyone who decides to change group with you."

" What??" I hastily stood from the chair," He did what?"

" BB said he called them all, and threatened them not to swap groups with you."

" I'll be right back." I made for the door.

" Where are you going to?"

" Where else did you think I'm going to? Of course, I'm going to the boss to give him a piece of my mind." Opening the door, I exit the room, and stormed towards the elevator.

Fuming in anger, I wasn't paying attention to my surrounding, until I slipped on the tiles.

"Argh!!!!!" I shout, swinging my hands furiously as I tried to stop the collision I know is about to happen. Something I'm quite aware is inevitable at all.

Closing my eyes out of reflex, I fell to the floor.

Or maybe not.

Instead of falling on the hard floor, I fell on something a bit hard, but not as hard as the floor.

Opening my eyes, I found out I was.

Rolling from him, I rolled on the floor, I hastily stood up, and dusted my body.

"Must you make use of your feet to wedged my fall?" I raise a brow at him, my anger prominent on my face.

"What did you expect me to do when you were the one that fell on my feet?" He raised a bored brow.

"You could have wedged my fall with your arms. That's what they do in movies!"

" You said movies. Presently, we're in the realistic world and not a movie. In the realistic world, things don't go as you plan."

" But…"

I paused.

Why am I getting worked up about this?

Why do I care whether he wedged my fall or not?

"Where were you going to?" He raised a brow at me.

"Not your concern." I snap at him.
