The book that Anna had handed Joshua to read for them tonight was titled, 'Made for me', which I had seen Anna checking it out during a book fair, which I had gone with the kids and my mom. It was about a father's declaration of his love for his child, and I didn't allow her to include it in our purchase, but somehow, she might have sneaked it in the purchases as it was in their bedside table.
Alan spoke up this time , "Finally, daddy can read to us this book. Do you know daddy, whenever mommy was out at work and Anna missed you, she would bring out this book and read it for both of us and pretend that it was you reading it out to us. But now, we don't have to pretend anymore."
I was moved to tears and had to turn away from them and pretended to clean up the mess that they had made after their bath, but I still couldn't bring myself to face my kids for how I had kept them away from their father.
