Chapter 29 - Ch - 29

"Miss Lanruo, what did he do to you?" Xue Yin asked curiously.

Huyan Lanruo avoided eye contact. Despite how bold she was, she was not going to admit it.

Jason spoke, fulfilling Xue Yin's curiosity. "Nothing much. I just spanked her a few times for punishment."

"Few times? You liar! You almost broke my butt." Huyan Lanruo shouted. But just after that, her face turned red in shame.

Xue Yin's face also turned with a little shade of red. She had never thought that Jason would do something bold like that to the seductress.

'Huyan Lanruo was the only child of Huyan Xiong, the Patriarch of the noble Huyan family. Despite how she behaved, she was a spoiled child, pampered by her father. If he learned about this incident then...'

Xue Yin felt a headache coming just by thinking about it.

"Miss Xue Yin, you must punish him. You should just fire him." Huyan Lanruo couldn't take her loss and shouted.

Xue Yin was startled by her request. How could she fire him, a grandmaster-level inscription master? Let alone her even if Huyan Xiong had said that, she would have still refused.

Jason raised his hand, his tone firm yet calm. "If you don't want another reminder to behave, I suggest you listen carefully." Huyan Lanruo, startled, ducked behind Xue Yin with a pout.

"Instead of wasting time on meaningless antics, why not do something more productive?" Jason continued, his gaze steady. "If I ever catch you using your demon spirit to mess with others again, you'll regret it. Being playful isn't bad, but there's a limit—a line you shouldn't cross. Do you ever think about what might happen if someone you toyed with decided to retaliate? Not everyone will let you off easily. One mistake could drag your family's name through the mud, and they've worked hard to build their reputation."

Jason's tone softened slightly as he added, "Your father is a respected man, the City Lord's right hand. He earned that respect through his own efforts, not through inheritance. He provides you with a good life, so think twice before bringing trouble to his doorstep."

He walked over and gently patted her head. "I'm not sorry for my actions, so don't expect an apology. But I will give you these pills free of charge. Stop crying and remember what I said. You carry the Huyan name, and that comes with responsibility. You can't just mess around with strangers. If I had been someone with bad intentions, the outcome could've been far worse. Be more cautious and learn to read people before you act so recklessly. Got it?"

Huyan Lanruo looked at him, a strange warmth settling in her chest. She wiped her tears and mumbled, "You sound like my father. Are you sure you're not just an old man pretending to be young?"

Jason and Xue Yin exchanged amused smiles.

After a few more lighthearted remarks, Huyan Lanruo paid for the scrolls. Though her usual boldness had been tempered, her unique charm still lingered as she left, a thoughtful expression on her face.

"Little brother is really wise beyond his age." Xue Yin said with a smile. "Maybe only you would dare to punish that seductress in the entire city."

"You even gave her pills as an apology."

Jason sighed, "She is way too annoying. I just hope she will not come seeking trouble again. As for the pills, they are just some high-grade ones that I made in my early years, totally a waste for me."

Hearing him speaking it so suavely, Xue Yin's face twitched. 'Only you can call a high-grade pill a waste in the entire Glory City, Little brother.'

Sigh!

She sighed, shaking her head.

"Hahaha... Young Master Nie Li has such a unique character making us look at you in a new light."

Ye Zong appeared in the Inscription Association with Ye Shuo.

"What new light?" Jason said calmly, a faint smile on his lips. "She's just a little too young for my taste."

His straightforward remark caused the room to fall into an awkward silence. Everyone paused in their movements, their expressions stiffening.

Too young?

The collective thought ran through their minds as they glanced at Jason. Do you even look at yourself? You're not even older than her! Just what kind of preferences do you have?

Jason ignored their reactions. "What brings you here so late?"

Ye Zong rubbed the back of his head and said slowly. "Well, I listened to your lecture through my daughter's words..."

"And?" Jason raised an eyebrow at him, signaling him to get to the point already.

Ye Zong took a deep breath and said quickly. "I hope you can give me some pointers to improve my strength."

"Oh," Jason nodded his head before asking. "I can but what will I gain from it?"

"What do you want?" Ye Zong asked directly.

Prepared to negotiate, Jason stated his conditions. "I've heard there are many treasures in the City Lord's treasury. I'd like permission to browse through them. Additionally, there's one important policy change I'd like you to implement..."

Ye Zong nodded thoughtfully. "The first condition isn't an issue. Most of the treasures in the treasury are gathering dust, rarely utilized. You can select anything that interests you."

He paused, frowning slightly. "As for the second request... it's a bit unconventional. Why propose a rule that girls should only marry at the age of 16 or older?"

In Glory City, it was customary for girls to be married off as early as 12 or 14. This change, Jason's proposal, was undoubtedly perplexing.

Jason smiled faintly, prepared for such a reaction. "Because I believe that such early marriages place unnecessary pressure on young girls—physically, mentally, and emotionally. At ages 12 to 14, they're still developing and need the care and guidance of their families. Forcing them into marriage so early disrupts their growth and can hinder their ability to reach their full potential.

"I understand the realities here—children grow up quickly in Glory City due to the threat of demon beasts and the harsh environment. But allowing them to enjoy their youth a little longer can benefit not just them but the city as a whole. Waiting until 16 or later gives them more time to mature, develop stronger relationships with their families, and better prepare for the responsibilities of marriage and adulthood. Stronger individuals mean a stronger community..."
