Jason continued explaining his perspective, deeply immersed in his thoughts. When he paused to glance around, he noticed the stunned expressions of the others in the room.
Whether it was Ye Zong, Ye Shuo, or even Xue Yin, all of them were staring at him with astonishment. For a moment, the room was filled with silence as they processed his words. Though Jason's ideas challenged traditional norms, the logic behind them was undeniable. As they reflected on their own youthful days, his arguments struck a chord.
The environment might shape a young person, but true maturity only comes through time and experience.
No matter how much young individuals might try to act like adults, the truth remained—they were still developing and prone to mistakes.
Arrogance, pride, ego, and a tendency to show off were common traits among the youth, especially for those who tasted success too early. This inflated their sense of self-worth and caused them to look down on others.
Thinking it through, Ye Zong realized the value in Jason's proposal. Perhaps this idea could lead to a healthier future for Glory City's next generation.
And on a more personal note, it would also give him more time to keep his daughter by his side.
"Although implementing this rule might cause some resistance, I think it's a reasonable idea," Ye Zong said after a moment of contemplation. "I'll discuss it with the elders and clan leaders. I'll make every effort to see it enacted."
Jason nodded. "That's good. And don't forget to account for the girls who are already betrothed. Their families should postpone the marriage timelines too."
"I'll see what can be done," Ye Zong affirmed with a determined nod.
"Good. Now, let's move on to the main reason for your visit," Jason said, transitioning smoothly. "I've noticed that your stagnation in the Black Gold realm is due to several factors."
Ye Zong straightened, his expression turning serious. "I'm listening."
"First, your cultivation technique—the Seven Heart Technique—is strong at the initial stages, but it contains flaws that hinder advancement in the later stages. I'll provide you with the perfected version."
Ye Zong's eyes widened in shock, but Jason didn't stop.
"Second, your choice of demon beast is holding you back. While the Black-Scaled Earth Dragon is a powerful demon beast at the Black Gold rank, its fire and dark attributes clash with your own Snow Wind attribute techniques. This creates disharmony, making progress difficult."
"Could something like that really affect a breakthrough?" Ye Shuo asked, clearly intrigued.
Jason nodded. "Absolutely. Cultivation isn't just about using the most advanced techniques or integrating with the most powerful demon beasts. It's about synergy—choosing the right technique, the appropriate demon beast, and cultivating in harmony with your mind, body, and soul. Every detail matters."
Hearing this, Ye Zong's body tensed, and he asked hesitantly, "Are you saying that everyone below Black Gold rank hasn't even started true cultivation?"
Jason smiled patiently. "You could think of it that way. Everything below Legend rank is, in essence, a test. A test to evaluate one's potential. The true path begins when you reach Legend rank, which allows you to resonate with the natural laws of the heavens."
Ye Zong's expression stiffened as if he had been struck by lightning. "If that's true... then what have I been doing all this time?"
Jason placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Don't dwell too much on that thought. Many secrets were lost during the Age of Darkness, including the proper understanding of cultivation. What you've achieved so far is remarkable. You still have time to correct your path and achieve greater heights."
The City Lord took a deep breath, his mind churning with new perspectives. Jason's words may have shaken him, but they also ignited a sense of hope for the future.
"Yes. First, you need a demon beast suitable for your soul realm. You're in luck that I've just the demon beast spirit for you." Speaking of that, Jason retrieved a demon beast from his inventory, while faking it to take it out from the interspatial ring.
"A Snow Wind Ape King with the God-level growth rate. Unlike your normal ape beast, this beast has the potential to reach Legend rank and above. Integrate with it and make yourself familiar with it."
Ye Zong took the demon beast's spirit and carefully examined it before putting it inside his ring. Even though he loved his Black-Scaled Earth Dragon, for the sake of advancing, he would replace it.
Jason smiled and said, "Now for the heart of the matter. City Lord, your commitment to Glory City's safety is admirable, but it's come with sacrifices. One of the biggest is your relationship with your own daughter."
Ye Zong's eyes trembled as he stared at Jason. Despite his youth, the young man had pinpointed the thoughts he kept hidden.
Jason continued, "I'm not saying this to criticize you, but to offer perspective. Regret weighs heavily on the mind, and it seeps into everything we do. I understand the immense responsibility you carry for the city, but life is unpredictable. Worrying endlessly about a future that might never come is a burden you don't need to bear alone."
Pausing for a moment, he softened his tone. "Your daughter needs you—not as the City Lord, but as her father. Children value support and presence from their parents more than anything else. You have the chance to strengthen that bond. Don't let your role as the City Lord overshadow your role as a father."
Ye Zong fell into silent contemplation, gazing distantly as Jason's words sank in. After a long pause, he released a heavy sigh.
"You're right. In my effort to serve Glory City, I've neglected my family. I owe her that much as her father." He turned to Jason, a faint smile touching his lips. "It's a shame you're not my son."
Jason shook his head with a small laugh. "Things happen as they should, City Lord. If not for our current roles, we might not even have crossed paths, let alone had this conversation. That's the unpredictability of life."
Ye Zong chuckled, his mood visibly lightened. "True enough. You're one of the best things to happen to Glory City in years. Teacher Ye Kai made the right decision in having you guide the younger generation."
Jason just chuckled and wrote down three cultivation manuals, suitable for each of them.
Keeping it safe like a treasure, Ye Zong and Ye Shuo returned, leaving the Inscription Association.
