Chapter 12 - Re Ch 11

On the colossal St. Ancestral Mountain range, sunlight shined through the gap between the mountains into the deep canyons, and a magnificent city stood on the surface of the valley.

The city, due to being stealthily located geographically, was well preserved from the Age of Darkness. They would occasionally encounter attacks from powerful Snow Wind Beasts within the St. Ancestral Mountains, however, after going through numerous devastating conflicts, the city was rebuilt again and again.

This city is called Glory City, and it is a symbol of hope for humanity!

Normally it took only a long journey of over two days to reach Glory City from the territory of Heavenly Marks Family but Jason crossed the distance in a few hours.

Standing at the northern entrance of the Glory City, Jason observed the streets. If his family's territory was akin to an old village then the current Glory City was a high-tech city filled with hustle and bustle, people filling the streets almost to the brim.

All types of shops and stalls could be seen in the city.

Since he had arrived two days earlier, Jason decided to stay in an inn. After looking around a little, he easily spotted an inn.

Booking a room with two gold coins earned him quite a reaction from the inn owner.

Ignoring the owner, Jason placed his luggage into the room before making his way into the streets to make himself familiar with the city.

Usually, an elder or member of a family would have escorted him but in the current year, Nie Li was the only child going to join the Holy Orchid Institute.

A letter was sent to a member of the family studying in the academy to help him register at the time.

The Patriarch, Nie Hai, wanted to send an elder with him but the grand elder, Nie Wei suggested otherwise. According to him, if an elder escorted Nie Li then it would make it look suspicious. After all, Nie Li was after all a junior.

The more people, the more it seemed grand, attracting unwanted attention. So, it's best to let him go alone.

Jason didn't care about it anyway. Aside from his parents and family, he didn't care about others. As long as nobody would bully his family, he would just ignore them all.

Walking down the streets, he saw many places such as the Holy Orchid Institute, Inscription Association, Alchemist Association, City Lord Mansion, Sacred Family Mansion, Divine Family Mansion, and many more.

For an assassin, the knowledge of the entire terrain was a very important thing, it would help him or her in his time of need.

It had been twelve years since he arrived in this world, but even now he hadn't assassinated a single person, reaping the soul of an evil.

It insulted his name 'Hades', the Sovereign of the Underworld!

'I have to find my first prey and establish the name Hades into this world too!... But it is alright, I am sure a chance will present itself to me very soon.'

After wandering around for a few hours, he decided to finally return. He had made a few inquiries around the shops, gathering information about the families and other forces in the Glory City.

The next day, in the early morning, he made his way to the Inscription Association. Jason was sure of one thing.

'In this world where the strong are respected and weak are trampled upon, without having any sort of backing would force him to a corner one day. Even though I'm very strong, but as a professional assassin, it would be foolish to reveal my true strength like that. While this method could attract some unwanted attention but it will still force people not to act in the open against me. As for in the dark, hehe... it will still be a question of who will be a prey and who will be a predator.'

Arriving at the Inscription Association, he was slightly disappointed to see the place was quite deserted with barely a shadow in sight. Walking inside he finally saw a person more specifically a young woman sitting behind a table reading a book. She had long black hair tied up in a bun with a hairpin.

Walking over, he spoke politely. "Excuse me Miss, but is this the Inscription Association?"

The woman closed the book and raised her head, looking at him with a smile, not seeming offended by his words. "Welcome, young man. You're at the right place. My name is Xue Yin, the president of the Association. Why do you seem so surprised?"

"Well, to tell you the truth this place seems way more deserted to be called an association."

Xue Yin smiled and explained, "Little brother, this place is indeed the Inscription Association. As for being deserted, that is because most of the Inscription Masters rarely come here, spending most of their time creating inscription scrolls. They only come to either collect materials or submit the finished inscription scrolls for money."

"Oh, so that's why this place is so deserted." Jason nodded his head in understanding.

Xue Yin sighed and said, "It is not so easy to become Inscription masters and nowadays rarely anyone seems interested in it, resulting in the decline of the association..."

She seemed a little down when she said that before shaking her head and speaking with a smile. "Forget about it. What brings you here? Do you want to order an inscription scroll?"

Jason shook his head and said. "No. I'm here to partake in the examination to become the Inscriptionist."

"Oh?" Xue Yin seemed a little surprised. Looking at the young man in front, she could see that he hadn't even reached fifteen years old but he sure had an air of confidence around him with the mixture of mystery.

Nowadays, no one is interested in this profession so her shock was justified.

She smiled and explained. "Little brother, there is no examination. You can be considered an Inscriptionist as long as you can make an Inscription Scroll or an Enchanted Equipment. Your rank is determined by the level of your inscriptions. You are considered an Apprentice if you can make Bronze Rank or Silver Rank Inscription Patterns, an Inscriptionist Master for Gold Rank, and Senior Inscirpton Master for Black Gold Rank. Finally, an Inscriptionist Grandmaster if you manage to draw Legend Rank inscriptions."

"Okay, I would like to give it a try." Jason listened to her and said seriously.

Xue Yin nodded her and guided him inside to an empty table. After moving around a bit, she put down a stack of blank inscription paper with the blood of a bronze rank demon beast on the table.

"Here, Little brother. Now you can begin. And remember to not push yourself too hard." She said seriously before stepping down a little, giving him space.

Jason stepped forward and checked the ingredients on the table. After making sure that everything was fine, he picked up a brush and dipped it into the blood of the demon beast before placing it on the sheet of paper.

Upon seeing that Jason was about to write, Xue Yin's interest was piqued. She was looking forward to his performance.
