Chapter 3 - Quirk Manifestation

Time Skip (2 years)

I've now been in this world for three years. My birthday was a few months ago, on February 4th, and it's now May 6th. Nothing interesting has happened so far. I still haven't manifested my quirk. The only people I've met relevant to My Hero were All Might. I'm pretty sure I also saw a kid, Midoriya, and Bakugou, at a park once, but it was as soon as my family and I left, so I can't be sure.

Right now, I'm walking home from kindergarten. I don't need to go to kindergarten, it's not required, and my parents already said I could wait until elementary, 'BUT I'M SO FREAKIN BOOOORED!' There's nothing to do before you get your quirk. I watch superheroes on tv and research some of the new techs that the world has developed. There are even these cool pulser boots that let you fly and stick to walls. But besides that, there's nothing to do. I could go looking for UA students, but I don't see the need.

I also noticed that my knowledge about My Hero had become a little clearer ever since I've been here. I can remember some of the critical places in the first four seasons and even know when stuff happens. I don't think I had this clear of a mind before coming here, but it's convenient, so I won't question it. I know that Midoryia and a few other UA students live near me, and I know in a year, boom, boom, boy will get his quirk and start bullying Izuku. But I don't think I'll interfere with the development right now.

Anyways, I think I have an idea of why my quirk hasn't awakened. I think quirk awakening is influenced by stress. In class one time, in the middle of a test, everyone in the class went blind and deaf for a few seconds. It turned out a kid had just awakened their quirk, which makes them into a living flashbang. No one was mad about it, and once we finished the test, everyone started congratulating the kid. By the way, the only reason none of the kids were mad was because I didn't let bullying happen at our school. Any kid with a quirk didn't have much against an 18-year-old, but I really shouldn't feel good about that. Anyways, the teacher even complimented their quirk, saying that it was very effective, 'ain't that the truth.'

But I don't have anything to stress over as a mentally 18-year-old in a 3-year-olds body. The only thing I'm a little apprehensive about is All For One (The big baddy in My Hero). I think I remember he liked to abduct kids with powerful quirks and steal them using his quirk (It's a fan theory, but all are true to me until proven otherwise). I might remember a scientist guy, the same person that worked on the Nomu project, who liked to dress up as doctors to administer quirk tests to children to find some strong ones for AFO to steal. But I'm not too worried about it because I think I remember him mainly going after orphans. If I go missing, mom and dad will flip out and have all the heroes, dad knows, try to find me. Regardless, AFO is still strong right now, and I have to be careful. The fight between him and All Might happens in 5 years; until then, he's not entirely in the shadows, and I have to keep my guard up.

Besides that, I also think about what I should affect in the timeline. Undoubtedly, my presence will affect it anyway, but I don't want to affect the timeline drastically. I think the first plan is to save Kota's parents. I doubt I can win against Muscular, but I might be able to help somehow. 'Jeez, I hope I get a strong quirk. I've checked my pinky toes, and both only have one joint, so I should be good. Let's hope that for each 1 jointed pinky toe, I get 1 quirk, that'd be hella awesome. But I already know it doesn't work like that.'

(Narrator)

While in deep thought, Ota is unaware of what is happening around him. He crosses over a bridge with a busy road underneath. On this road heading straight towards the bridge is an armored bank truck that some villains have hijacked. In the driver's seat is a man with an owl head, and on top is a villain staring behind the vehicle at a hero hot on their tail.

The hero wears a red suit with rollerskates on his feet. He's currently following after the truck but is having trouble keeping pace. The villains see the bridge, and an opportunity arises to get the hero off their tail. The owl man says something out loud to the man on top; a villainous smile spreads across the man's face as he gets prepared to blow up the bridge.

(Pov: Ota)

"Haaaaa.." I sigh sadly for my inability to awaken my quirk. I look up from my daze and spot a young girl walking my way. She's a small girl, and I can assume she's in kindergarten like me. She has brown hair and an oval face with blue eyes and is currently looking down at the books she carries in her hands.

'She must have just come from the library.' We continue walking but soon before we pass each other, I watch as a black sphere gets tossed over the side railings and lands right in the middle of the bridge. I'm confused, and I look over the side of the bridge to find a man in roller skates racing on the highway. 'Is that the red power ranger? No way it's not. If the right people saw this in the anime, you can rest assured Kohei Horikoshi (writer of My Hero) would be getting a nice lawsuit right now. But why is a presumed hero racing toward..."

A chill runs down my spine, and I quickly turn to face the girl and the black sphere. The girl has decided it's a great idea to walk over and look at what is 'Clearly a FUCKING time bomb!' "GET AWAY FROM THAT!" She gets scared and drops the bomb, turning around to run away. *BOOM* The bomb goes off, and the girl and I get blown away from the middle of the bridge -my vision goes dark.

A few seconds have gone by, and I regain my sight and get up. I find that the middle of the bridge has been blown up and caved in onto the road. I look to my right to see that all of the cars driving before the bridge blew up are fine and have stopped before crashing into the rubble. I look to my left to see the red power ranger is still chasing the truck. I assume the hero ensured everyone on the other side was safe before pursuing the villains.

'The girl!' 'I guess he forgot to check up here, NICE.' I quickly look in front of me to find the girl is currently unconscious, blood has begun to pool up underneath her, and I'm unsure of the damage. She's sitting dangerously close to the edge of the collapsed edge of the bridge. There's a clear 10-meter gap (33 feet) between the two of us, not something I can typically jump, but who knows. I get up and look down at the crowd outside of their car in front of the bridge.

"Hey! There's an injured girl over there; someone call for an ambulance!" Everyone's eyes suddenly look at me, 'wow, that's scary. Everyone's staring at me. I feel like I'm about to die.' "We already called the police, and they said they'll be here in 5 minutes!" a random bystander comments. "The girl is bleeding badly, is there a doctor here?" Before anyone can talk, I hear some rocks falling, and I look back up at the girl on the other side.

*chills* 'Some more of the bridge is about to fall, and the girl is going to go with it.' "Hey, the bridge is about to collapse, and the girl will fall, is there anyone that can help?" They all start looking at each other, unsure of what to do, 'Why aren't they moving!?' It's a little too late as I notice the bridge will fall before someone steps up. 'There's not enough time. I have to do something.' I look around me, try to find anything that can help, but there's nothing but rubble.

It's too late. I can only watch as the girl and the rubble begin to fall. 'NO!' I start running towards the end of the bridge, 'Get there, GET There, GET THERE!' I run right off the end of the bridge and jump, 'God help me.' I hold my hands out, ready to catch the girl and close my eyes. *Zoop*

Sudden exhaustion overcomes my body, and I open up my eyes to find the young girl in my arms, and we both land on a sturdy part of the bridge. I turn around to see the edge as the rubble that previously supported the girl falls. I look up at the other side of the bridge, seeing the backpack that I left behind. 'I just crossed a 10-meter gap; how did I do that?' *crack* I look down to find the bit of bridge underneath us crack under our weight.

'Shit, out of the frying pan and into the fire.' I quickly try to get off the bridge and grab the girl to take with me, but my body fails. I fall back down due to mental and physical exhaustion. The girl lays in front of me, and I can see that the crack developing is only halfway underneath her. I start trying to push the girl to get her over the edge. *crack* 'come on' *crack* 'just a little bit 'crack* 'GOT IT!''

I successfully push the girl over onto the still stable part of the bridge and proceed to plummet. 'Why am I like this? That's twice now that I saved someone else without any care for my own life. Am I that susceptible to killing myself? Maybe I'll get another chance in a new life? Or maybe I'll die for sure this time and will never have to make the same mistake again.'

"I GOT YOU!" I hear the voice of what I presume to be a child as I feel arms wrap around me. I look at my new savior, and it appears to be a boy about my age. The boy has black straight hair lying down. Big green eyes half glazed with a somewhat tired expression stare down at me. I look down to find that we're currently four and a half meters up (about 15 feet). 'That's some jump!' We land safely, and the kid lays me down on the other side of the rubble, away from bystanders.

"Are you alright?" "Oh yeah, I find-" I pass out due to exhaustion, and the kid begins to freak out a little bit and holds a finger under my nose. "Good, he's still breathing." he sighed in relief. "WAIT!" I jolted my eyes open and looked at the kid. "Yes!?" he's a bit startled by my sudden awakening. I say, "Don't let them take me in an ambulance. I don't want mom or dad to pay for that." I then close my eyes again and drift off into a pleasant sleep dreaming about my new quirk and how I could cross a 10-meter gap in an instant.

The kid is left there looking at me, quite confused. "But… ambulances are free?" ( Mc is still a little bit unaccustomed to the idea of living in Japan now.)
