Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6: SAVED

"Where am I?' Levi asked, getting up.

"You look fine," Mello responded.

After last night's incident, Hina and Levi successfully escaped from the mountain.

"Sorry, I got you in trouble," Hina said in a low voice.

'Levi saved you? Well, I didn't expect that to happen even in dreams," Daisy added.

"Wait, how am I still alive?" Levi asked, shocked.

"It's nothing to brag about but I used my healing magic on you," Mello replied, satisfied with herself.

At least she's not fully useless.

"You are definitely thinking something bad about me," Mello said.

"Whatever. What's the next plan?" Levi asked.

"Attacking at night is dangerous," Enzo said. "We have to make sure that our mission is completed in the daylight."

"That might be impossible," Daisy replied.

The next moment, Enzo ran his hand through his hair and looked at Daisy gracefully.

"So cool, master Enzo," both of them said in unison.

This guy is too much.

BACK AT THE MOUNTAIN

"Hey, you say children get kidnapped at night… right?" Levi asked.

"Yep," he replied.

"Then why don't you guys ever try to stop them?" Levi asked again.

"The problem is… it isn't confirmed until they are kidnapped because they don't attack directly and on top of that they carry out their endeavour with no commotion. It's hard to predict when they attack but it's mostly night," he replied.

"So, it means they are using some secret passage or something like that," Hina announced.

"That might be true but we never found out about it," Evy answered.

"Searching for them here is dangerous. What if we are outnumbered?

They made their way inside the thick forest. Soon they heard some noise near the river bank and followed it.

Ogres were sitting on the ground among human bones.

"Damn, what the hell is this?" Levi said in a low voice.

The next moment they were surrounded by ogres from behind.

"It's showtime," Enzo said, taking out his sword.

The six of them charged at the ogres while Levi calmly climbed a tall tree. Ogres surrounded the tree and glared at him.

Hmmm, what should I do? The six of them are busy fighting.

Fighting was of no use as they were outnumbered all of them were caught and tied with chains.

This world is scary.

"Looks like we had a good catch today," said the head of the ogres.

"Enzo, do SOMETHING!" Levi shouted.

"It's no use kid, even if you escape you all in the middle of this dense forest. You can't escape.

"Ahhhh! We are dead," Levi said. "I'm innocent, I don't even have magic."

"Wait, you don't have magic?" the head asked.

"Yes sir."

'If you are lying, then I would kill your friends without hesitation. Ok, from today you will work for me."

"What am I, other than a common man? Who lives in this world without an aim, here today I dedicated my life to… what's your name? Nevermind. Master Ogre. Your servant is here and-"

"SHUT UP! Stop your useless speech," the head grunted.

"Yes, sir," Levi said.

"Today, you will kidnap children for me."

*

THAT NIGHT

"Do you really want me to kidnap children?" Levi asked nervously.

"If you don't want to die then you have to do it," the ogre replied.

Levi was sent with a bunch of ogres to carry out the endeavour. As they reached the outskirts of the city, they slowly moved among houses in the dark night.

And by the time it was midnight they returned back to the mountain.

"See, I did what you told me, let me live," Levi begged.

"Sure, throw him with the others," the head ordered.

*

THE UNDERGROUND BASEMENT

The ogres dragged him and threw him inside an underground room along with others.

"Here is Levi," Mello said, who was curled up in the corner of the room.

"You guys are still alive?" Levi asked.

"Why is that sad look on your face seeing us?" Daisy shouted.

"Well, I'm happy you guys are alive," Levi replied.

The three of them smiled at him.

"Don't smile at me like a long reunion, break that damn DOOR!" Levi shouted.

They sighed at him.

"It's impossible, they have installed an anti-magic mechanism," Enzo replied.

"You guys are useless," Levi said. "And where's your sword?"

"They snatched it from me."

"Don't call our master useless," both the girls shouted.

"Whatever, let's go," Levi said, taking out a hammer from his pants.

"You have a hammer?" the six of them asked in unison.

As the door was made of wood so it broke down easily, ogres were not present in the basement which saved them from getting caught again.

"Do you know the exit?" Hina asked.

"…yes," Levi replied.

"For some reason, you look like a reliable person," Mello said, wiping her tears.

"Don't make fun of me," Levi grunted.

They walked with caution and reached the entrance of the basement, as they tried to get out it too was locked and the door was made up of steel.

"Guys, there's a small room…" Enzo whispered.

They walked up to it and Levi broke it with one blow.

"There is my sword," Enzo ran and grabbed it.

There was a long antenna that was glowing in purple colour. Hina broke it.

"Now we can use our magic," Eny said.

"We still have to save those children," Mello reminded.

"I have an idea, they are locked in the other wing of the basement, follow me," Levi replied.

Levi walked inside the innermost part of the basement and pointed at the wall. "Blast it," Levi said.

Within seconds Evy and Nora blew up the wall with their magic. The other side was filled with ogres while infants were locked in a small room.

"Levi, get the children out of the basement while we stop those monsters," Hina ordered.

"Got it." He grabbed some by their hands and others he carried with utmost difficulty.

I'm not a babysitter. The whole horde of children followed him innocently. He took the children to a safe place till the brawl came to an end.

"We have won, there's no need to fear ogres anymore. This city is safe again," Enzo exclaimed.
