(Open POV)
Amity Park…
There is a row of townhouses where the Fentons live.
(Jared's POV)
Fenton Works basement…
Jack, sitting down and wearing a soda hat and a fishing vest, sips his soda, then casts a glowing-white fishing line into the open Ghost Portal. Danny comes down the stairs with me and he drops his backpack on the floor. I am wearing my hoodie and jeans and we walk up behind Jack.
"Hey, Dad. What are you doing?" Danny asked.
"Hey. Are you doing anything good?" I asked, taking out some Pocky to snack on them.
"Danny, Jared, keep it down. You'll scare away the ghosts." Jack said, pointing to his fishing pole. "It's the Fenton Ghost Fisher. I'm Fishing for ghosts." He stops reeling and stretches out the line a bit. "Check out this line. Coated with a special high-test ectoplasmal resin that ghosts can't break. Quiet now. Don't wanna spook 'em." Jack recasts the line and sips his soda and his stomach rumbles. "Whoa! That soda goes right through you like Sherman through Georgia." He gives the Fenton Fisher to Danny. "Here! Hang on to this. I'll be right back after I use the Fenton Urinal."
"Danny, you know that show Dragon Tales?" I asked, while Jack went upstairs.
"I do." Danny said, as the fishing line suddenly reels out further into the portal and becomes taut. "What about it?"
"You'll see."
Danny's ghost sense and my ghost sense goes off.
"Oh no." Danny said, straining to keep a hold of the Fenton Fisher against the resistance, but the line breaks. "Now I know what you mean by Dragon Tales."
"Yup. I meant that literally." I said, and a blue ghost dragon, who I know as Princess Dorathea, emerges from the portal, the line hanging from her mouth. She roars and the line's broken end smacks Danny in the face. "Now if only Camelot was real."
"Why would you want Camelot to be real? Da-?"
"I want to go!" Princess Dorothea yelled.
"D-ahhh!" Danny said, running towards me, terrified.
Dora grabs Danny in her fist, "I have to go!"
"You'll have to stand in line behind my dad. In the meantime…" Danny said, going ghost.
"Danny, Need some help?" I asked, tossing some Pocky into my mouth.
"I'm good." Danny said, becoming a blue ghostly mist to escape Dora's fist and reforms. "I think I can handle her."
Surprised, Dora tries twice to hit Danny, before breathing green fire at him, all of which he dodges. He returns with a kick, which sends her flying across the room, during which her golden amulet falls off her neck into Danny's open backpack. Upon landing, Dora transforms into a ghost girl.
"All I wanted was to go to the Princess Costume Ball. And my horrid mummy won't let me!" Dora said, wailing as she flies back through the portal.
"If that dragon suit's her idea of a costume, I'm on mummy's side." Danny said, changing back to normal. "Phew! Man, that's a relief."
"It really is a relief." I said, the box of Pocky in my hand. "You being able to handle that so fast."
"I'll tell you what a relief is...Darn, I almost forgot!" Jack said, re-entering the room before running back upstairs to the bathroom and flushes the toilet.
Exterior of Casper High…
There is a banner above its doors reading, 'THE BIG DANCE'.
Tucker is holding the door open as girls walk out past him, "Hey there, I…"
"No!" Girl 1 said.
"Hi, would you…" Tucker said.
"Forget it." Girl 2 said.
"No!" Rebecca said, holding up her hand towards Tucker.
"I didn't ask you yet!" Tucker said, angrily.
"When was the last time you attended a school dance?" Sam asked, looking at me.
Sam, Danny, and I are eating lunch at a picnic table.
"It was with Team RWBY and Team JNPR at Beacon." I said, looking down at my burger and fries. "Yang wanted a fog machine there and Weiss wanted doilies everywhere. Jaune danced in a dress with his team. Cinder was there though."
"Cinder. As in Cinderella." Danny said, his eyes widening.
Tucker, upset, sits down next to Danny.
"Jared, didn't you say that Cinder gave two of the Relics to this immortal being called Salem?" Sam asked.
"Strike 3, Tuck?" Danny asked.
"Try strike 3,000." Tucker said, annoyed.
"I don't know what the big deal is about going to some stupid dance. I don't need to be asked to some dance to know I'm special. I…" Sam said, scoffing.
Danny and Tucker are staring in a happy daze, not paying attention to Sam.
"What?" Sam asked, annoyed.
"Paulina…" Danny and Tucker said, at the same time.
Paulina walks down a pathway while boys stare distractedly at her. One boy on a bike crashes into a tree, while another walks into a guy sitting on a fountain and they both fall into the water, only to sit up and continue staring. I looked over at Sam to see Danny and Tucker stood up from where they were standing.
"Paulina…" Danny and Tucker said, at the same time.
"Oh, please! Paulina? Girls like her are a dime a dozen!" Sam yelled.
"You're not wrong, Sam. I know this kid that tried to be the only other person in the world to be there with the popular girl at his school." I said, laughing a lot. "It didn't go well."
"Of course it did."
Danny and Tucker dig through their pockets and pull out some change.
"How much change you got?" Danny asked, looking over at Tucker.
"Ha ha! Very funny. Just remember: you can't judge a book by its cover." Sam said, annoyed.
"Well, there's only one way to find out. Go on, Danny. Go to that library and check out that book!" Tucker said, excitedly.
I looked over to see that Paulina was sitting under a tree with her lunch box. I am standing Danny and Sam.
"I can't! I get weak-kneed when I try to talk to cute girls." Danny said.
"Oh, and you have absolutely no problems talking to me." Sam said, sadly.
"Uh…"
"Sam, don't worry. Danny might have feelings for you someday. I know it." I said, walking over to Danny and lifted him by the arms. "I do know your story."
"You do, Jared. Now go on, Danny. Go give your weak knees some exercise." Sam said, smiling.
Danny stumbles over to Paulina and leans against the tree with one arm.
"Hi! I…" Danny said, taking a deep breath.
Danny's arm turns intangible and falls through the tree causing him to lose his balance and fall to the ground.
"Please! Don't say you've suddenly fallen for me. That line is so last semester." Paulina said.
"Yeah! I-I mean, no! T-that's not it. I'm...I'm Danny." Danny said, standing back up.
Danny's pants glow green for a moment, then become intangible and fall to the ground to expose his boxers. The other students in the yard laugh, along with Paulina.
"A gentleman usually tips his hat, but I'll give you points for originality." Paulina said.
Sam walks over to Danny with me as the crowd dissipates and puts her hand on his shoulder.
"Kudos, Danny. You just set an all-time speed record for drowning in the shallow end of the gene pool." Sam said.
"Oh, no! You did not just call me shallow, did you?!" Paulina exclaimed, taking a moment to think about what was just said.
"If you mean do I think I can stand in a puddle full of you and not get my feet wet, then yeah."
"Shallow?! I am not shallow!" Paulina said, while Sam and I grabbed Danny by the arms and we pulled him away. "On the other hand, I'm not so deep that I couldn't lure a boy away from a goth geek. And I will."
Casper High…
I am standing next to Danny in the hallways where he is pulling books from his locker.
Tucker, nearby, watches as girls walk past, "Thanks to you, I now know the quickest way to a woman's heart: clean boxers."
"Man, I blew it yesterday. Paulina probably won't even look at me now." Danny said, letting out a sigh.
"Yoo-hoo, Danny!" Paulina yelled, waving from down the hall.
"Paulina isn't my Impossible Girl." I said, as all the guys around her lustfully sigh.
"Or not! Hey, Tuck, Jared?" Danny asked, looking between Tucker and I.
"I get it. I'm out." Tucker said, beginning to leave with me.
"Same here." I said, and Tucker rushed back to Danny. "Like I said, she isn't Clara Oswald for the win. Oswin."
"Good luck." Tucker said, running away with me. "Let's go, Jared."
"Hi, you." Paulina said, laughing flirtatiously. "I just wanted to…"
Dash suddenly slams Danny into his locker and shuts it, then leans against it, "Meet me? Who doesn't?"
Danny invisibly leans out of a locker a few doors down and glares at Dash.
"Dash Baxter." Dash said, while Danny places his hands on the jock's shoulders. They begin to glow and fall into Dash's back. "All-star quarterback and school hero." Danny gets sucked into Dash's body. "I'm also…"
Dash's eyes turn green and he drops his football.
"…in Dash's body?" Danny asked, overshadowing Dash while looking down at himself.
"Excuse me?" Paulina asked.
"Right! Of course!" Danny said, as Paulina stares at him suspiciously. "I'm also president of the Casper High geek club, and I have every toenail I've ever clipped. Want to see 'em?"
"No."
"Oh, then you should get to know Danny Fenton. He doesn't scrub his mom's feet every night like I do." Danny said, kneeling and picking up Paulina's foot.
"Eew! Get lost, loser!" Paulina said, backing up.
"Jared, that isn't funny." Danny said, leaving Dash's body and invisibly goes back into his locker.
"You're right. It isn't funny." I said, laughing invisible in the distance, knowing how well that turned out. "It's hilarious!"
Dash stands up and holds his hand up to steady his head, disoriented.
"Why do I suddenly feel like scrubbing my mom's feet?" Dash asked, walking away holding his head.
Paulina opens up Danny's locker and he falls out with a yelp. Dora's amulet falls out of his backpack onto the floor as well.
"We have to stop meeting like this." Paulina said, kneeling down to Danny's level and noticed the amulet. "Oh my gosh!" She points to the amulet. "What's that?"
Paulina picks up the amulet, entranced.
"That? Oh! Uh, it's a...uh... You like it?" Danny asked, smiling hopefully.
"It's beautiful!" Paulina said, excitedly.
"Hey, that's great!" Danny said, and Paulina stood up. "Because I, uh, got it for you."
"Really?!"
"Yeah." Danny said, standing up. "I-I-in case I got the nerve to ask you to the dance and you said yes, I thought I'd want to give you something and that's what it would have been. It's for you." His pants turn invisible briefly and he grabs them before they fall. "Whether you go with me or not."
"Well, you are kind of cute, and you have great taste in underwear. I'd love to go with you." Paulina said, putting on the amulet.
Paulina walks away. Her eyes begin to glow green as the amulet's powers overtake her.
"Jared? What am I doing?" Danny asked, smiling, then frowning. "That thing doesn't belong to me. It could be my mom's, or my sister's."
"Danny, does it look like Jazz or your mom owns something like that?" I asked, still invisible, knowing Lancer is nearby. "Because that looked medieval."
"Bye, Danny. See you!" Paulina said, at the end of the hall, waving.
"Or Jared, we could worry about that later. Because she said yes! Woohoo!" Danny said, raising his fists triumphantly in the air and his pants falling down.
Mr. Lancer walks up behind Danny.
"Pantless again, Mr. Fenton? Third time this week I've caught you-- how do you kids say it?" Mr. Lancer asked, taking out a book called 'How To Sound Hip For the Unhip'. "Dropping trou. I think it's time I saw your father for a parent-teacher conference."
Lancer Gives Danny a notice slip.
"Oh, man. My dad?" Danny asked.
"Until then, here." Lancer said, holding out a belt. "It'll help you keep your pants up and…" He consults his book. "…out of trouble with the man."
Danny takes the belt.
Fenton Works basement…
Jack is still sitting and fishing for ghosts, leaning his face on his hand.
Danny is standing behind his dad with me, "Catch anything, Dad?"
"You've been out there for hours." I said, sipping on some Coke.
"Son, Jared, I couldn't catch a cold. I've been sitting here all day without a single bite." Jack said, looking between Danny and I.
"This is why I hated fishing. Too much waiting around. And it's boring."
"I agree. Hunting down ghosts like this is like trying to catch a fish."
"Uh…" Danny said, holding up and pointing to the parent-teacher conference notice.
"I'm so frustrated I want to take out my rage on the first person who gives me bad news." Jack said, reeling in his line before casting it again. "Anyway, Danny, you wanted to tell me something?"
"Well, sort of. Mr. Lancer…"
"Mr. Lancer what? Is this bad news?" Jack asked, narrowing his eyes.
"Mr. Lancer…" Danny said, suddenly smiling and overshadowing Jack, who is looking away. Jack's eyes turn green. "…wants to have a word with us!"
Mr. Lancer's office…
I am standing there, invisible, watching the action unfold right in front of me. An overshadowed Jack is sitting across the desk from Mr. Lancer.
"Thank you for coming to discuss your son's schooling, Mr. Fenton." Lancer said.
"Well, sure!" Danny said, overshadowing Jack and pointing to his father's body. "I'm a parent, and that's...what parents do. Uh, right?"
"Well, there were a couple of incidents...with his pants."
"Did his pants fall down again? Poor Danny. He studies so hard he forgets to eat. I know these things because I'm his dad and not him." Danny said, smiling hopefully, leaning an arm on Lancer's desk.
"Hmm…" Lancer said, rubbing his chin, thinking. "That would explain things."
"Danny, don't say it worked. It'll only make things worse." I said, invisible to Lancer.
"Of course you understand. No wonder you're Danny's favorite teacher." Danny said.
"I am?" Lancer asked.
"We Fentons consider teachers to be underpaid and under-appreciated." Danny said, smiling hopefully.
"I like your style, Mr. Fenton." Lancer said, gesturing to a dance flyer he's holding. "In fact, I'd like you to chaperone the upcoming school dance."
"Chaperone? Well, I'm not sure…"
"I am. See you Friday." Lancer said, reading from his 'How To Sound Hip' book. "Or, as the kids say, catch you later, G!"
Lancer points to Jack with a handgun gesture. Danny, as Jack, worryingly grimaces.
"This is going to end badly." I said, letting out a sigh and looked over at Danny. "Of all the things, Danny."
Amity Park Mall…
Danny, Tucker, Sam, and I are sitting at a table in the food court, eating.
"Mmm!" Tucker said, with a mouthful of food, as a girl walked by.
"No." A girl said.
"So, Danny, your dad is going to chaperone the dance?" Sam asked.
"Yes, but he doesn't know he's going to chaperone because he doesn't remember that I made him say yes!" Danny said, angrily.
A girl is reading a book at another table.
"Let me get this straight. You and Jared can just walk into people and take over their bodies from the inside?" Tucker asked.
"Yeah, pretty much." Danny said, happily.
"It is pretty cool." I said, smiling.
"Hey, Danny, Jared. If one of you could control a girl for just about two minutes…" Tucker said, looking at the girl with the book.
"Nope. Not gonna do it." I said, looking over at the girl with the book. "I wouldn't do it to my friends or family."
"Jared has a good set of morals, Tuck." Danny said, glancing at the girl, then back at Tucker. "Forget it. Tucker, you can get your own date for the dance like I did."
"Does he have to take off his pants and act like a dweeb? Or will either one do?" Sam asked.
"Either one? Probably both." I said, tossing a French fry into my mouth.
(Open POV)
Abyss store…
It has a sign above its doors that says, 'Fleecy Tees Sale!!' Inside, Paulina happily spots the table of yellow fleecy tees and begins searching through the stacks.
"I've just got to have one of these!" Paulina said, throwing some tees over her shoulder. "They're so unique!"
Paulina looks back to see all the other customers in the store wearing the tees. She then looks around and spots a store sales girl.
"Miss?" Paulina asked, waving for assistance as the sales girl hops over to her. She holds up a tee. "Do you have this in a size small?"
"Ooh, sorry. We just sold our last small of this corduroy button-down fleecy tee to someone else." The sales girl said.
"Will you be getting any more soon?"
"The Abyss corduroy button-down fleecy tee has been discontinued. If you haven't already got one, you are doomed to languish as a toxic social outcast for a period of no less than five and no more than sixteen weeks." The sales girl said, giggling. "Sorry."
"SIXTEEN WEEKS?!" Paulina exclaimed, red in the face, outraged and she ripped the tee in hands.
The amulet begins to glow around Paulina's neck. Paulina's skin turns blue and her eyes turn red. She transforms into the dragon Dora was before and stares down at the sales girl.
"Want fleecy tee!" Paulina yelled, blowing green fire at the table of tees.
Amity Park Mall…
(Jared's POV)
Customers and the sales girl ran out of the Abyss store, screaming. The table of tees crashes through the storefront window. I looked between Danny, Tucker, and Sam while drinking a mint chocolate chip milkshake.
"Honestly, guys, I'm glad I'm not going to the stupid dance. Saves me the embarrassment of wearing the lame dress my parents bought me." Sam said, laughing nervously.
"So no one's asked you, huh?" Tucker asked.
"Maybe if I was as pretty as Paulina."
"Why are you so down on her? So she's pretty. It's not a crime." Danny said.
"Looks are deceiving, Danny." Sam said.
People start screaming and running away behind the four of us. Danny's ghost sense and my ghost sense goes off.
"Ghost time." Tucker said, holding up two boxes of French fries. "Danny, Jared, can I finish your fries?"
"Take them, Tuck. They aren't Five Guys!" I said, when Danny and I ran into an open spot to go ghost. "Those fries there were bland for me."
"Of course you'd have fry preferences, Jared." Danny said, while he and I flew into the air in front of Paulina the dragon. "Say, haven't we met somewhere?"
Paulina roars and breathes green fire at Danny and I.
"Let's try this again." Danny said, as he and I dodged the fire. "Hi, I'm Danny Phantom. This is the Black Pearl. And you are?"
Paulina roars and hits Danny and I with her tail.
"Danny, she has a temper!" I said, and Danny yelled.
Danny and I crashed into the kitchen of the nearby Weenie On-A-Skewer.
"Testy, got it." Danny said, holding his head.
Paulina breathes more fire at the store's counter and Danny and I fly out of the way.
"Sorry, dude! I think you got the wrong weenies!" Danny said, smacking into Paulina, pushing her through the air.
Paulina grabs Danny mid-flight and skids to a halt, then pins him on the ground, "Must have tee!"
"Tea? Ooh, good idea. Coffee could make you a mite jittery. Better yet…" Danny said, turning intangible and sinking into the ground.
I turned intangible and sank into a nearby wall. Paulina looks perplexedly at her claws.
"Have some punch!" Danny yelled, while flying back up through the ground before punching Paulina.
Paulina flies through the air towards a girl carrying an Abyss shopping bag, who screams and runs away, leaving the bag behind. As Paulina smashes into the ground, the amulet flies off her neck and lands in the bag. She turns back into a human.
"Ooh, whoa." Paulina said, disorientated. "What hit me?" She notices the bag and pulls out the amulet. "Hey! My amulet!" She puts it on, then pulls out a tee from the bag. "Hey! My fleecy tee! They must have had it in my size!" Paulina folds the tee. "I guess good things happen when you maintain a positive attitude."
Danny flew out of the ground and I flew out of the wall back towards Tucker and Sam.
"Danny! Jared!" Sam said, as Danny and I changed back to normal. "Are you okay?"
"We're okay. There's no need to worry. That was the second time Danny and I fought the dragon. We need to investigate. Find out more about it." I said, looking between Tucker and Sam. "So, Tucker, Sam. How are you two?"
"Great...if you don't count me still being dateless for the dance." Tucker said, and he starts tapping on his PDA. "Sasha, no. Denise, no. I've hit every girl in school except…" Valerie walks up to him. "Valerie."
"Yeah, hi. Sucker, is it?" Valerie asked.
"Tucker. Or Tuck. Or Tuckerino."
"Which ends with 'no'. Which, by the way, is my answer, unless something happens in the next five minutes that makes me dateless."
Kwan walks up to Valerie.
"You'll never guess what happened! Donna said she'd go to the dance with me, so you're dateless!" Kwan said, walking away.
"Oh, if only that was my Donna. My super temp." I said, sadly.
"You're on." Valerie said, looking at Tucker.
"I'll take it!" Tucker said, while Valerie leaves. "Some may call it the rebound, but I call it a yes! I got a date! Whoo! And the pants are still on!"
Tucker points down to his pants.
Fenton Works' kitchen…
Maddie is fixing Jack's tie.
"I don't understand why I have to wear this stupid thing." Jack said, annoyed.
"Because it's Danny's first dance, Jack. If we're gonna chaperone this thing, we have to make sure we don't embarrass him." Maddie said, happily.
Maddie is still fixing Jack's tie as Jazz and I are leaning against the table.
"How would we embarrass him?" Jack asked.
"I think it's great when you guys do anything that doesn't have something to do with your sick obsession with ghosts." Jazz said, smiling.
"For your parents, Jazz. Yeah. I can't tell if they're better or worse than the Ghostbusters." I said, sipping on my mint chocolate chip milkshake.
"It is hard to tell with them, Jared."
"Funny. I don't even remember volunteering to chaperone the dance. It's all a vague blur." Jack said, frowning.
Danny walks up behind the table, drinking a glass of water.
"By the way, Danny, just so you know, I'm on to your little secret." Jazz said, looking at Danny.
"What?! Wh-what secret? Jared? Did you tell her?" Danny asked, spitting out his water.
"The clumsiness, the nervousness. I can't believe I didn't figure it out before. You have a girlfriend."
"It's a lie, Jared and I are not ghosts!" Danny said, panicking, before realizing what Jazz said. "I-I mean...she's not my girlfriend. She's just going to the dance with me."
"That's great! I can meet her and talk to her about ghosts!" Jack said, excitedly.
"You better let her know your family's insane now, Danny. If you marry her and she finds out later, that's entrapment." Jazz said.
"I better go get ready." Danny said, sighing and walking out of the room before going through the door and walking down some stairs. "Okay, so I'm gonna have to dance with Paulina and keep my dad from embarrassing me. I can handle that."
(Open POV)
Sam's room…
Sam is laying on her bed, talking to Danny and Tucker via webcam on her laptop.
Danny's room…
Danny, Tucker, and Jared are in suits and prepping for the dance.
Danny's room / Sam's room…
"Tie straight." Danny said, adjusting his tie. "Shirt tucked in." He picks up Fenton Fisher while retracting the pole and putting it in his jacket. "Unbreakable ghost fishing line tucked neatly away just in case." He looked over at Sam on his computer. "What's taking so long with that dragon research, Jared?"
"Sorry that I was busy watching some Pomu Rainpuff streams." Jared said, looking down at his MacBook Pro with the Torchwood software up, typing away and motioning Danny and Tucker over and screen sharing with Sam. "Take a look at this."
A webpage with an image of the ghost dragon pops up on Jared's MacBook Pro.
"That's it!" Danny yelled.
"Yup." Jared said, clicking on the 'More Info' link. "Hey, guys. Listen to this. 'Medieval ghostly legend held that the cursed Amulet of Aragon…'" He loaded up images of a human Dora wearing the amulet. "…could transform any wearer into dragon form…" The fanboy then loaded up an image of the dragon's neck with the amulet on the Torchwood software. "…under states of extreme emotional duress or anger."
Jared zoomed in on the amulet the dragon is wearing.
"That's the amulet I gave to Paulina." Danny said, while Jared looked between him and Tucker. "It must have accidentally fallen into my backpack. Wait. You mean...I'm going on a date with a dragon?!"
"Like I said, looks are deceiving. I'm sure you boys will have a wonderful evening." Sam said, ending the video-chat.
Jared closed the lid on his MacBook Pro and placed it inside his backpack.
"She really wants to go to the dance." Danny said.
"Danny, Sam said she didn't want to." Jared said, sadly.
"We're her best friends. We should have known."
"Well, there's nothing we can do about it now, right?" Tucker asked, as Danny thinks for a moment, then smiled mischievously and flashes green eyes at him. "No way. Forget it. Absolutely not. No!"
Outside Sam's home…
Tucker's hand is knocking on Sam's front door.
"Tucker?" Sam asked, opening the door. "What are you doing here? Where's Valerie?"
"She kinda cancelled on me." Danny said, overshadowing Tucker making Sam's eyebrows raise in surprise. "Do you think we could go together-- you know, as friends?"
"Uh, I don't know. This is so last minute. And I do have plans, and…" Sam said, smiling, then frowns.
"Well, I understand if you don't want to go." Danny said, beginning to turn around to leave.
"Okay, but only because you got stood up." Sam said, reaching out to stop Tucker's body. "I'll go change into that dumb dress I wasn't gonna wear."
Sam goes back inside her home and shuts the door.
"See ya!" Danny said, leaving Tucker's body and floating in air as Phantom towards Jared as the Black Pearl, saluting.
"Have fun, Tuck!" Jared said, and he flew off with Danny.
"That is so unfair!" Tucker said, yelling after Danny and Jared. "And as soon as Sam comes back…" He turns back around. "I'm gonna…"
The door opens to reveal Sam dressed up in a purple-and-black dress holding a matching purse. Tucker grins and blinks repeatedly.
"Come on, we're gonna be late!" Sam said, excitedly, shutting the door and pulls Tucker, who yelps, by the arm down the porch steps.
(Jared's POV)
Amity Park…
Danny and I phase partway through a sidewalk, look around, and we float up to Paulina's front door. Danny and I popped back into our human selves and we landed. I then became invisible, not wanting to make myself known in front of Paulina's dad.
"Paulina, about the amulet." Danny said, practicing his apology to himself. "It's an ancient family heirloom and I need to get it back." He smiles briefly, then slaps himself before sighing. "No, that stinks."
"It really does stink." I said, invisible.
The door opens to reveal Paulina's dad glaring down at Danny.
"Uh, hi! Uh, you must be Paulina's dad." Danny said.
"If you upset her, we're going to have a violent talk." Paulina's dad said, nearby.
"Papa?" Paulina asked, walking to Danny in a pink dress. "You're scaring him. Come on, Danny." Danny notices the amulet on her neck. "We're going to be late."
"Have a wonderful evening, baby." Paulina's dad said, looking at Danny. "I know where you live."
"And I'm glad we had a chance to chat." Danny said, walking away.
Casper High gym…
It has a banner above its doors reading, 'SCHOOL DANCE 2 NITE' and dance music playing from within as students file in. Inside, students are dancing and cheering. I am drinking a bottle of Mountain Dew and eating a hot dog.
"Let's get down with our bad selves." Lancer said, walking amongst students, reading from his 'Hip' book. "Yo." He points randomly. "Shake that thing." Lancer looks another way. "Hey, G, you're my dog."
Danny grabs two glasses of punch off a table and turns to hand one to Paulina, "Paulina, I was thinking... That amulet…"
"Isn't it fabulous? I haven't taken it off since you gave it to me." Paulina said, happily.
"Yeah, well, about that. See, I shouldn't have given it to you in the first place because…" Danny said, spotting Sam standing with Tucker and I. "It belongs to Sam!"
Paulina growls angrily and sticks out a green dragon tongue to suck the punch out of her glass, which she then breaks in her hand.
"Uh…" Danny said, handing Paulina his glass. "But I want to make it up to you. I'll get you something else. Something...more special."
Mr. Lancer is walking up to Jack and Maddie, "Mr. Fenton! About our conversation the other day concerning Danny."
Jack looks confused. Danny sees this and worries, turning to Paulina.
"Like punch! I'm gonna get you some special punch." Danny said, running away from Paulina.
Danny turns invisible behind Jack and overshadows him. Jack's eyes turn green.
"This isn't going to end well." I said, laughing a lot, looking between Tucker and Sam.
"Yes!" Danny said, as Jack. "Danny, what a fine boy he is! Ha! Yes, as his father, I get that all the time."
"Jack, you sound kind of strange." Maddie said, frowning.
"Oh, must be something I ate." Danny said, spotting punch at a table. "Hey! How 'bout I get us some punch?" He walked through students. "Excuse me! Excuse me! Adult coming through. I shave every day." Danny walked to Tucker, Sam, and I. "Tucker, Sam, Jared, we've got trouble."
"We had nothing to do with it, Mr. Fenton. It was all Danny's idea." Tucker said.
"Ugh. That's Danny." I said, tossing Tucker, Sam, and Danny Gekota walkie talkies. "Those are Gekota walkie talkies, they're toys, and they have good range on them. I still haven't added cameras to them yet." I watched Danny, Sam, and Tucker clip the Gekota walkie talkies onto their clothes. "Here's the plan that I remember well. Sam, you help Danny find Paulina. Paulina has the amulet. Tucker, we'll keep an eye on Danny's dad. The moment he starts talking, we'll call Danny."
"What he said. Nice plan." Danny said, walking away.
"This dance gets better and better with every passing minute." Sam said, running off in one direction.
"Jared, you knew what to do because you watched us do them." Tucker said, running off with me in the other direction.
"Yup." I said, letting out a sigh.
(Open POV)
Casper High…
Paulina is walking through another room past Sam, who turns and sees her.
"Danny! I've got her." Sam said, talking on the Gekota walkie talkie.
"Stay on her." Danny said, as Jack, talking on the Gekota walkie talkie. "I'm on my way. And Sam, don't make her angry."
Invisibly leaves Jack's body and takes the Gekota walkie-talkie from his hand. Jack looks confused.
Girls' bathroom…
Paulina is checking herself in a mirror.
Sam walks up behind Paulina in the reflection, "Hey, Paulina. Nice dress."
"Yes, and it goes so nicely with your amulet, don't you think?" Paulina asked, turning to Sam.
"My amulet? That's not my…" Sam said, while realization of Danny's and Jared's plan hits her. "Right! That's what Jared meant. Listen...my grandma gave me that amulet, and…"
"Forget it, sweetie. I'm not giving up this trinket or your little boyfriend Danny." Paulina said.
"My boyfriend? Ha ha! And they say pretty girls can't be funny. Danny is not my boyfriend."
"He's not?"
"He's my best friend. Maybe that's why I was so hard on you. I didn't mean to call you shallow."
"What a bummer! I only agreed to go out with him because I thought I was stealing him from you." Paulina said, putting the amulet around Sam's neck. "Here, take your crummy amulet." She is walking away. "I'm going back inside to dump your dorky friend."
Sam shakes with anger and the amulet starts to glow. Her skin turns scaly and blue, and her eyes turn red.
"Shallow little witch!" Sam yelled, transforming into the blue dragon and roared.
Paulina faints.
(Jared's POV)
Outside the girl's bathroom…
I walked up to Danny who was standing outside the bathroom.
Girl's bathroom…
"Paulina? Sam?" Danny asked.
Danny and I walk into the bathroom and sees Sam the dragon flying out of the destroyed ceiling. We go ghost and fly after her.
Casper High…
Sam is carrying the unconscious Paulina. Danny and I fly above Sam and the Phantom kicks her in the back. She falls and crashes onto the football field.
"Take it easy, Paulina. You don't want to hurt Sam." Danny said, landing with me.
"Danny. It's reversed." I said, sadly.
"Reversed? What do you mean?" Danny asked, noticing Paulina in Sam's grasp. "Paulina?" He looks at Sam's face. "Sam?!"
"Shallow girl!" Sam said, standing on her hind legs.
"Yep, that's Sam." Danny said, as Sam breathes fire at us and we turned intangible to avoid it, then reappears. "Whoa! Sam! Two words: breath mints."
"Rude!" I said, and Danny launches into the air and pulls Paulina from Sam's hand.
Sam roars at us, then hits us with her tail, sending us towards the bleachers. Danny turns himself and Paulina intangible while I turned myself intangible.
Behind the bleachers…
Dash is leaning against the fence talking to a girl, "So, do you like quarterbacks?"
Danny, Paulina, and I phase through the bleachers and hit the fence, turning tangible. Dash and the girl stare in surprise.
"Uh, sorry." Danny said, frowning.
"You guys better run." I said, when Sam lifts up a section of bleachers and roars. "Like. Now."
Dash and the girl scream and run away. Sam throws away the bleachers.
Casper High…
"Now, Sam, be reasonable." Danny said, and static came out of the Gekota walkie talkie on his shirt.
"Danny, Lancer's getting close to your dad." Tucker said, his voice coming out of my Gekota walkie talkie.
"Sorry about this, Sam." I said, flying towards Sam and strains to pick up her tail, then pulls her into the air by it. I swing her around and flings her into the distance. "That should buy you some time, Danny."
"Thanks." Danny said, turning around, smiling, then frowns. "Oh, man. Dad!"
(Open POV)
Casper High gym…
Jack is walking through the dance. He suddenly stops and looks angry.
"Hey!" Jack said, seeing Maddie and Lancer, who look back at him, before facing Lancer. "Who the heck are you? And why are you talking to my wife?"
"Jack, this is Mr. Lancer…" Maddie said, in a hushed tone. "From the parent-teacher conference."
Danny phases up through the floor behind Jack and overshadows him.
"Right, right." Danny said, as Jack. "I'm sorry, it's just in this light I thought you were George Clooney. Isn't he sharp, Mom? I mean, Maddie."
"Well…" Lancer said, chuckling. "Thank you."
"Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to dance with my wife. That's what we adults do, dance with our wives." Danny said, pulling Maddie to the dance floor and they begin to dance.
"Doesn't this bring back memories?" Maddie asked, sighing.
"If by memories you mean things you remember that I don't, then yes! Go ahead and remind me of stuff. I'll totally agree to remembering."
The song ends and students start cheering for them. Danny invisibly leaves Jack's body and flies off.
"What the heck? I mean, uh, thank you! Thank you all on behalf of me, Jack Fenton." Jack said, happily.
(Jared's POV)
Casper High…
Sam is flying through the air, then Danny phasing through the roof and flying at her with me becoming visible.
"What took you so long?" I asked, holding the Fenton Fisher.
Sam breathes fire at Danny and I three times, all of which Danny and I dodge. Danny and I stopped in front of her.
"I hate to say this, but you throw fire like a girl!" Danny said, causing Sam to growl, and he looked over at me. "Why do you have the Fenton Fisher?"
"Oh. You know that one scene in the Empire Strikes Back on Hoth with the AT-AT's." I said, flying towards Sam and holding the Fenton Fisher. "Where Luke and his squadron in Snowspeeders did that one scene. We're going to do that but with Fenton Fisher."
"Oh. That's not a bad idea." Danny said, flying towards Sam. "It can capture ghosts and dragon ghosts." I casted the line at Sam, which wraps around her neck. "Way to go, Dad!"
Sam continually breathes fire at Danny and I, who keeps wrapping the line around her until her wings and arms are secure. She drops to the ground. Danny flies down to her and removes the amulet with me flying down a couple seconds later.
Sam transforms back into her human self.
"Sam?" Danny asked, and light flashes as he transforms into Fenton and light flashes and I transform back to my human self.
"Hello?" I asked, while Danny kneels down next to Sam. "Sam? Are you okay?"
"Wow." Sam said, holding her head. "Did I have fun at the dance?"
"Well, uh…" Danny said, chuckling. "Let's just say you had a roaring time."
Casper High gym…
The gym is near-empty with students filing out. Sam, Danny, Tucker, and I are standing in the middle of the floor.
"Dude, sorry your date didn't pan out. Where is Paulina anyway?" Tucker asked.
"Danny's date is with Dash." I said, looking at Dash leaning against the wall talking to Paulina, who looked annoyed.
"So, do you like quarterbacks?" Dash asked.
I looked over at Sam, who looks as if she's about to answer Tucker, then changes her mind.
"Ah, who cares? Look!" Sam said, looking at the DJ. "The DJ's still playing." She looked over at Danny. "And I think there's time for one last dance?"
"Sure, I'd love to." Danny said, handing Tucker the amulet. "Keep an eye on this, will ya?"
Tucker nods.
"Gonna record this." I said, running after Danny and Sam with my iPhone 15 Pro Max in video mode and I started recording them slow dancing. "Saving it for the memories."
"Thank you, Jared. Danny, promise me you'll keep your pants up." Sam said, happily.
"I'll do my best." Danny said, smiling.
Tucker is standing off to the side, watching Danny and Sam slow dance and me recording them.
"Wait a second. I'm dateless again?! What does a guy have to do to get hooked up around here?" Tucker asked.
Dora the ghost suddenly appears behind Tucker, "I want to go to the ball!"
"On second thought, I don't need a date that badly." Tucker said, and Dora comes closer and places her hands on his shoulders causing the nerd to yell at Danny, Sam, and I. "Hey guys, wait up! Can I cut in?"
I turned my back to look at Tucker's face, laughing.
