Being in the Jeep felt so long for a thirty-minute trip to West Plains. All I saw on the way there was road and trees, but it soon turned into a small city. There weren't tall buildings, but there was more than our small town of Willow Springs. So when the bus went towards Wally World as we head towards the suburban area. I could tell that Ace was getting excited to see his girlfriend once again. Hanna was a tough girl, but she was never good at talking to people. I don't know what she was going to do when she saw us. She might kill Ace on the spot or leaving him alone. But it all came to a stop when a tree was on top of the road.
Walking in a bigger city would mean higher chances of zombies near us. The chances were life or death, both came close in my head. Death or staying alive was there, but the risk was all I wanted to do at this moment. I stepped out of the jeep and grabbed a bag filled with supplies of food, water and ammo. We might as well search the houses for ammo and more food while we were here.
"Lize we should get Hannah first." Ace said with a smile on his face. I could tell that he missed her and was ready from their relationship to continue.
"I agree, but we also need supplies to survive." replying to his answer. I thought going into a couple of houses would help scout out the area around us. She lived at the very end, but what are the chances of her being there. So I went into the first house to see if there were any zombies in the area, but it was empty. The only thing was the dead body of one with a bullet through its head. I don't Hanna knew to shoot a gun, but I could be wrong. I looked around to find a couple of can goods and a knife block. It could be handy with keeping my knife sharp. We slowly made it closer to Hanna's house, but something caught Jade's eye in a white house.
There was movement coming from a house in the window. I thought maybe it was someone who was surviving this too, but it was too small. But when she opened the door, a little corgi puppy came out with it's ears tuck. It must have been locked up in the house by the owners, but they didn't seem to be anywhere. Jade's eyes lit up with joy, but the puppy hid under a car away from us. Trying to stay away from her like it was his life was on the line.
"Lize do you have anything I could give it?" Jade asked me, hoping that I had something.
"Use the jerky in your bag." I sighed as I walked to the last house. Hoping that Jade would watch herself while trying to catch a dog. So we went to the door, hoping that Hanna was still there. Ace knocked on the door, but when it did open. Hanna stood there angry and upset that it took us this long to get to her. She held a revolver in her hand as her other was on her belly.
"Took you guys long enough." she snapped at Ace, but he didn't snap at her. All he did was hugged her like his life depending on her being alive.
"I'm sorry that we took so long...." he whispered in her ear.
"You're lucky that I still love you." She mumbled under her breath and pushed him away. "So why are you here anyway?"
"We came to get you," I answered while I made sure Jade was fine. All she was doing was holding jerky and trying to get him out from under the car. "Ace was about to leave to get you a couple of months back, but it was suicide to go alone. So we fixed up a bus and made a plan to come get you."
"You seemed to be the only one who makes sure he doesn't do anything reckless." she sighed, "But I'll come along, but he'll have to earn my trust again."
"Good, now let make sure Jade didn't scare the puppy too bad." I smiled as we walked over, seeing that she finally had it in her lap. She pets it as it calms down on her, but jumped when we got there. Jade pick him up, knowing it was time to go. We still had to make sure Wally World was safe for us all. James told me that he'll make sure that everything is fine, but I felt like something was going to happen. So we left to reach what could be our new home.
