Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Jaxs' Sister's First Words

Jade made me stay on base for who knows how long. I felt like I was trapped again, but there was one thing that kept me going. Jaxs' little sister was around. I was asked to keep an eye on her as he would go out with Jade. It made me sad as I was forced back, but at the same time, I got to think of things to do. The little girl was named Olive as she also had black hair and beautiful blue eyes. She slept without a thought of the world outside as I watched her in the crib.

Normally I would sit there and wait for her to wake up as Squeaks would sit there along with her. He seemed to gain a protectiveness to her as she slept and even watched her learn to walk a little bit. She would have a kind soul as she would get older, but I worry about how she would take being around others. Would she trust or keep away from people like them, but one day we won't be there to help her? The idea follows as I wrote in my journal about the life we had out here and the advice I would give to the younger members of the group one day. I wanted to help them even if I die in the end.

"You and many others are going to do great things," I said with a smile as she started to stir a bit. Her eyes try to adapt to the light as Squeaks watched her closely from a distance. He already learned that babies like to grab something soft, but it doesn't stop him from taking naps with them. All I did was watched them closely as she smiled and laughed at him, trying to get close.

"You really seem to have her under your paw Squeaks," I laughed as Olive looked at me with her arms up. She wanted out of the crib and to move around the room for a little bit, but it didn't last long as Jade walked in. All I know was that her eyes lit up as she saw her walk into the room. She could barely wait for her to be held by Jade as she was putting her stuff away.

"You can go get some rest," Jade said with a smile.

"I think you need the rest," I answered, "but Olive wanted you to hold her."

"Really?" she questioned as she walked towards me with a smile. Lately, she seemed to be in a better mood as trust folded down once again. We used to do everything together, but now it was either one or the other's idea to work things out.

"M…m..," Olive started to speak towards Jade, "M…a…Ma!"

All I knew was that Jade froze on spot as her words "Ma". I knew that she was trying to speak for a while as she tried to say Squeaks or Ma to Jade, but she was too busy with work. The smile she now has on her face was a good one, but it didn't last as she told me to leave her alone with her. Soon as I left, I hear giggling and laughter from both Olive and Jade.
