The routine never changed, footsteps remained fast paced but carefree. There were more people than usual running around, but that was to be expected.
As what awaited the ones working here, was a team effort and a massive risk.
Amelia stepped into her office, both her and Diane's desk were full of paperwork. Today piled on more paperwork than usually would at this time. There were a lot of documents compared to the regular paperwork however, all of it was really thick, barely thicker than a standard dictionary.
The door swung open, revealing a panicked Diane as she looked around the office. She was breathless and had to stand still to recover her posture and took some deep breaths. She looked up at Amelia, bowing at her like she usually would. She held a polite smile and spoke gently but loudly.
"You're back just in time!" She said with a relieved tone.
Amelia shrugged, "I'm late and I know it. Let's go."
She walked past her and Diane followed along, she held a notebook close to her chest while Amelia remained her usual carefree posture with her hands in the pockets. They walked across the hallway until they reached the end of it, which was a large hall.
The hall was the same color as everything else here, white. There was a stage with a huge holographic screen, with people sitting on the chairs. The chairs were color-coded and everyone was wearing their uniform. All of them wore some form of white, as it was the official color.
It was generally used for large events. There were some exceptions however, this was one of them.
There were only about one hundred people in here, yet they held high status within the place. There were high ranked army people, some that worked in the divisions and some were stand-in for some Gods instead.
There was a long table on the stage, with leaders of Divisions and the army sitting around it. Amelia stared at them for a moment, they were about to start as Marcus stood in front of the screen.
"Ah~ Amelia is late today? How unexpected." Sonora's scorpion tail whipped to the side as she spoke.
She did not reply or stare at her, just sitting down on the empty seat at the end of the table with her arms crossed. Diane sat across from Kaguya, the general of the army, with Marine perched on Kaguya's shoulder. She bowed at them and Kaguya bowed back as well, greeting each other silently.
The people there were leaders of each division. Marcus, leader of General Investigation & Supervision Division (G.I.S.D); Sonora, leader of Species Research & Medical Species Research Division (S.R. M.R.D); Nightingale, leader of General Medical Research Division (G.M.R.D); Grills, leader of Field Investigation Division (F.I.D); Melaine, leader of Physical Documentation Division (P.D.D); Pyro, Physical Book Collection Division (P.B.C.D)
"Let's begin." Marcus announced to the audience.
The screen showed a geographic map, with a building and its underground highlighted. The text said that it was The Lost Sheep's cult supply base. There were more things underground than the ones above, with broken bard wires and runes around it.
"This is their supply base. There are currently 60 confirmed members of it looking after and possibly more if they send help signals to other bases."
The screen showed a blueprint of the underground areas, which were separated by four categories. The first floor was a dorm area, the second floor was a communication and surveillance area, the third floor was where the bodies and souls were kept and the fourth floor was where all the equipment and documents were kept.
"The very top floor was where food and water was kept, it also doubled as a gathering area for members in the morning, or whenever there was a need to." He explained.
The map changed from the supply base to other bases. All of them were secluded, usually abandoned buildings that were at least a few decades old. Some of them were factories, some of them were apartments and some of them were labs. The map showed thirteen bases in total.
Three belonged to the Lost Sheep's cult, three belonged to the Worship cult, three belonged to the Demolition cult, two belonged to the Peace cult and two belonged to the Perfection cult.
"We made some adjustments from the last time we announced the raid."
The screen showed different people with names listed below them, the individual box corresponding to where the raid was going to happen.
"We have extended it to all of the other bases. With the help of some Gods, we would be able to take out the rest immediately." He stared back at them for a while before speaking.
He continued, "The three bases that belonged to the Lost Sheep's cult, will be led by Sei and Thorns. The three bases that belonged to the Worship cult, will be led by Marine and Kaguya. The three bases that belonged to the Demolition cult, will be handled by Zarnia and some army members. The two bases that belonged to the Peace cult, will be handled by Okame and Kira Osame, along with some army members as backup. The two bases that belonged to the Perfection cult, will be led by Alice Christabel Montagu and Olympoleia (Leia), along with some army members as back up."
"Some will be back-up insteads, especially the ones from S.R. M.D and G.M.R.D. Though they will serve as frontline support, mostly for recovering injuries. Riki's and Morax's teams are back-up for offense, if any other team needs help, you lot will be the first they turn to."
He picked up an object from the podium, it was a small flask that was filled with black. It did not shake or make any movements, it was completely still. People were naturally curious as to what it was since they had not seen such a thing before.
"This is a simplified teleportation flask. Once the flask is smashed, it makes a small hole on whatever surface area. You can get through it even if it seems too small to fit a person. It takes you to wherever you feel the most like going." He stared at the crowd.
"Of course, that means you can go straight back home. But we won't ridicule your actions, perhaps your comrades would."
The crowd stared at each other, some whispered between themselves. Some did hold a worried gaze in their eyes, seeing Marcus telling it straight to their faces like that was jarring to say the least. But, none of the leaders or army members had any reaction as if it was within their expectation.
The screen changed to show some of the enemies they will be facing, though Marcus did not say a thing for a good moment. His eyes stared at it before turning to look at the crowd's reaction. It was deadly silent, the air turned much more tense than anyone had expected it to be.
They looked like humans, but there was something wrong. They looked… inhumane.
It had limbs, but only some parts of it had flesh, some of it showing the skeletal structure. Their bodies looked like it was eaten as parts of it had bite marks with some flesh being gone here and there. Their faces were so distorted that their eyes were somewhat gone and popped out, claws dragged across their faces.
They looked like humans that someone half eaten and spat it back out.
"These are the remnants of the experiments, or failed products of it. This is what remains of the ones who failed to go through it, or gained something new through someone else." He studied the crowd's reaction.
Most of them were disgusted by the sight, the rest looked mildly uncomfortable. They were not that uncomfortable by the blood, just the way their bodies looked like a mangled mess straight out of a horror movie made some want to puke. Marcus seemed unfazed by it, though Nightingale and Melaine looked away.
He changed to show some information, "They should be killed in a single burst as they still hold regenerative abilities. It's easier to burn them from their core, which means their heart."
The screen now showed a little information about the members of each cult. "The Lost Sheep's cult members are artificial demons, though they do not hold much of a demon's soul. They still hold demon's blood, so try not to come in contact with it."
"The Worship cult members are normal humans. They are able to hold abilities of different species, even a bit of the Gods. They do hold weapons that generally correlate with abilities of their choice. The Demolition cult members have incredibly destructive weapons, some higher members can even seal away species specific abilities."
He continued, "The Peace cult members generally fight in groups, and also use sound or chants as magic casting. So, they use a lot of large area magic. The Perfection cult members vary in abilities, however they are much stronger than usual as they use a lot of different drugs or modifiers."
The screen changed to the cult's respective leaders. Marcus pointed at the picture, "He runs by a different name, Noir, though his actual name is Cyliam. This is the leader of the Lost Sheep's cult, and is an artificial demon caused by an experiment." Cyliam's eyes were a darker hue of orange with his hair remaining mostly the same color. It still was red but the streak of white was grey now.
Vander had brown eyes and slid back hair, he looked androgynous comparatively. "This is Vander, leader of the Worship cult. He is an undead who used to be a human, it was believed he turned into an undead against his own will."
William had short blonde hair with lime-colored eyes. "This is William, leader of the Demolition cult. He is a human who used to be a soldier for the church but turned against his comrades."
Charlie had a warm hue of yellow eyes and short light green hair. "This is Charlie, leader of the Peace cult. He is an artificial angel who was used as a political bargain for his lineage."
Salem had long silver hair with streaks of black and blood red eyes. "This is Salem, leader of the Perfection cult. She was wrongly accused of massacring her village, or as some thought."
The screen showed nothing and disappeared. He stood in front of the podium with the microphone in his hands, looking over to Amelia as he continued to speak, "Are there any questions from everyone in the room?"
The crowd was dead silent, if a pen dropped to the ground everyone would hear it. No one was going to ask anything. Some of them seemed to be figuring out something in their mind, while some were reconsidering their choice in participating. They were allowed to choose if they wanted to join or not, but some joined as their comrades did as well.
"Let's hear some words from everyone else in the seat." Marcus handed the microphone over to Kaguya and Marine.
Her blue eyes were blank, staring at the crowd and talking in a deadly serious tone, "I expect you all to be on your best behaviour and cooperate with all that will happen."
That was all she said and she handed it over to Pyro, skipping over Diane. Diane did not mind as she had nothing much to say, she was only there to write a report and send it to the Council.
Pyro was more gentle, though he still spoke seriously, "Everyone here has been with us for a while at least, I still hope that we will continue to witness your growth along with our legacy here."
He bowed at the crowd before getting off, passing it down to Melaine who looked nervous. She nearly tripped as she walked up to the podium, her light green eyes scanned the crowd.
She stuttered as she was nervous, "I… I… look forward… to continuing working with you!"
They stared at her, not out of confusion but out of slight respect. She bowed and got off, again nearly tripping herself in the process. She handed it over Grills and sat back on her seat with her face red.
Grills chuckled lightly as he walked up to the podium, "I will be interested in seeing your growth. As some of you joined us not so long ago, I expect to see nothing but the best. Make sure to carry your comrades when they fall and laugh together when they succeed."
He scratched his medium length brown hair with another chuckle, the atmosphere lightened up slightly by his laughter. He got off and placed it on Nightingale's hand, squeezing her hand lightly before sitting back on his spot.
She fixed her light brown ponytail while walking up. She took a deep breath before speaking, gathering her voice and courage to do so. Her white eyes did not look directly at the crowd, instead it looked slightly over them.
Her voice was steady, no trace of nervousness could be heard as she spoke, "So long as you are still alive, we the medical division will heal you, even if it takes a coma to do so. But… I do wish to see everyone here come back alive, no matter how injured you get."
Someone started clapping, which caused the rest of the crowd to clap along. They were cheering her on with a warm smile, knowing how much stress her division would be under even when their workload would be shared by Sonora's. She laughed lightly before walking off, handing it to Sonora.
Sonora chuckled lightly, she simply spoke from where she stood, "I'm sure everyone is well aware of the risk present. Even so, I don't want to see anyone lose their spirit now~. After all, if one man falls, eventually everyone will fall with them as well."
She continued before handing it to Amelia, "And now, I wonder what we will hear from our supreme leader. Let's listen attentively to Her Majesty, Amelia!"
Amelia was not greeted very warmly as she walked to the very edge of the stage, her gaze remained cold and stoic like usual. Sonora stared at her with her head tilted and an excited smile, Nightingale pinched her slightly as a way to reprimand her. But she looked away once Sonora leaned in close on her, her creepy smile remained.
She sighed, "If anyone wants to leave. I implore you to leave, right now."
Her words shocked them, as they stared at her with their eyes widened. Some started to whisper amongst themselves, trying to figure out the reason for her sudden mood. Though she did not care about it all, as she spoke nothing but the truth.
Her words will not be as kind, or serve as motivation. No, they were only going to speak her mind. "I don't need a person who would not fight for the cause. That person is only going to affect the team's morale and strategies, and they are not going to help much in the actual raid." She explained.
They were still chatting amongst themselves, though they quickly stopped as her stone cold stare pierced through the air.
She warned, "This is your last chance to leave. If you don't want a high risk of death, then go now. Only your name, perhaps legacy, will be remembered by your superiors and comrades, then eventually the Earth."
"We don't fight for justice. We only fight for our perseverance, as a species and as a home for those who call it so. Everyone here will leave behind nothing, only a name to be mentioned in passing. Gods are no different, then neither will any of you."
Her head tilted up, "If you don't want to leave your corpse on the battlefield, then walk away."
They did not say a word, or even move from their seats. Some stared down on the ground, some gaze became distant after what she said. The air was incredibly tense that even a knife can cut through it. Her words were suffocating, plus the enemies they were going to fight.
Her hand moved as she spoke, "I assume that no one is going to leave then?"
They seemed to be deep in thought, their mind processing over her words. She closed her eyes and sighed again. No one moved a muscle or spoke a single word for the next few minutes that felt like an hour. The air remained tense as Amelia stood on the edge of the stage, staring at them.
"Let's end it." She abruptly announced as she walked off the stage.
She threw the microphone without looking, which Pyro caught it before it fell to the ground. Everyone stared at her as she walked away, Diane running to catch up to her. This was not the first time she had done something like this, but it was still odd to them every time they saw it happen.
"She's a really tough one eh~?" Sonora giggled.
Nightingale commented, "At least she seemed to be in an okay mood."
Everyone was ushered back to their own office or area, placing the seats and table away. The hall was empty once again, though there were many more things to come that would utilise it. After all, it was one of the places the Council liked to use for gatherings they were invited to.
"Was their reaction off to you?" Amelia questioned Diane without looking at her.
She thought about it before answering, "A little. I did not expect that, but it was not that impossible in my mind."
"You know why they had such a reaction?" Amelia slid her hands into the pockets.
"Not really. I guess it's because it reminded them of their atrocities?" She tilted her head slightly.
Amelia chuckled, "You're right. That's why I had to ask if anyone wanted to leave. After all, it was unpleasant that they got reminded of such."
She continued, "They are used to killing. But when the thought that they shouldn't have used killing as salvation, that broke down their morale somewhat."
Diane looked at her notebook while thinking through what she said. It made sense for her to accept it, but she had her own conclusions. Either way, she was sure that writing a report on today's meeting was going to be very censored, as in cutting out Amelia's part and replacing it with something else.
The hallway quieted down with time, afternoon turned to dusk. People began to go home as their work time was over, having the time to relax in their own homes before the big day came. Some would spend more time with their family, afraid that they would never see them again; Some would simply contemplate their choices, wondering if they made the right decision.
This was a work culture, one that would never change. Having to always bet their lives on the line, unsure if the outcome will be one worth sacrificing for.
The back alleys were quiet as this particular area was too secluded for visitors to know of it, only those who lived here for long or worked for the underground knew of it. A two-story building with a barely lit neon sign board that said, Moon Shine.
Amelia stood before the building and stared at the sign. She looked at the front door which was old and had begun to rot. She sighed and pushed open the door, letting some light get into here.
The first floor was rather empty, only having a large counter with various teapots and teacups on top of it. There was a small round table with wood stools in front of the staircase. This floor was only illuminated by a few dim light bulbs.
"Oh? Who do we have here?" A man spoke.
He sat on the stool near the staircase. The man had pitch black hair with bright silver eyes that made him stand out even in dim lighting. He wore a polite smile, pouring some tea from a medium-sized teapot.
He blew off some smoke, "It's the Guardian Goddess Amelia."
He chuckled and drank his tea, pouring another time once it was finished. His eyes stared directly at hers, his smile remained. Though the feel of it was different, it was one of curiosity instead. It felt like he was staring into her soul, the silver eyes searching for something.
"You're not her, correct?" He spoke loudly.
Amelia smiled, yet it was not the usual one she had. This one was unhinged, wide and showing some of her teeth. She leaned forward as she felt some pressure around her neck and waist, as if there were people near her.
"What if I'm not?" Her tone was clearly taunting him.
Her body shattered into pieces when two people appeared, one swung their spear across her neck, the other thrust their blade through her waist. They did not hit anything and there was only what seemed to be shattered glass on the ground.
"Now now. Don't be hostile to our guest." The man drank another cup of tea.
The man holding the blade spoke, "I'm glad that you are not bothered by it, Liu Yue."
Liu Yue laughed and shook his head, "There was no need for concern, Pois."
"After all, he is no threat to us."
The man holding the spear threw it in the direction of Liu Yue which confused Pois. A figure appeared seated in front of him, a small teacup in his hands. He raised his other hand up while pouring some tea for himself, stopping the spear in its track with one finger.
"Have your master not taught you manners?" Liu Yue giggled.
Asura smiled and knocked the spear to the ground with the same finger, "She never did, unfortunately. But she is already rude herself, so I would rather not."
Pois's weapon disappeared as he stared at Asura. He walked to the counter and leaned on it, closing his eyes and his head hung low. The other person, Xiao, walked up to Asura. Asura simply smiled at him, his usual maniac smile, yet Xiao was only interested in picking up his weapon. He also walked away and observed them from a distance.
"There is a fourth person, right?" Asura drank his tea.
"You mean Shana. Well, she is just shy." Liu Yue poured tea for both of them.
He chuckled, "Shy you say? Interesting…"
There was a blank gaze in the way he stared at Asura, yet he continued to hold his wide smile. To Asura, the person in front of him was just the same as he is. To Liu Yue, the person in front of him was a big wild card, too unpredictable for his liking.
"What do the mighty goddess need from us?" Liu Yue took another sip of his tea.
He hummed while speaking, "Some assistance. Or the way you'd put it, business opportunity."
"Oh?" His eyes lit up as he poured some more tea.
"What's your business opportunity?" He chuckled and stared right at Asura.
Asura shook his head, "But I want to try something first. Would you mind?"
"Your master has already decided upon which one of us to go along with?" The way he phrased it sounded more like a comment.
He laughed loudly, "Of course. Amelia thought everything through at least once."
"What do you need?" Liu Yue's tone shifted immediately, as if warning him to think about his next words.
"Just a little sparring. With you." He extended his hand, his eyes filled with excitement.
His smile disappeared immediately and glared at Asura. He did not frown though he looked insulted that his abilities were challenged by Asura. Asura replied by laughing loudly, as a way to taunt him into accepting it but also looking down on him.
"Your master has no respect for people too?" His eyes stared at Asura's.
His grin widened, "She certainly does. But not for me."
Asura flipped the table with his knee, it flew up to midair as the teacups and teapot spilled out the remaining tea. Liu Yue's half-moon scythe hung around his neck, the handle knocking the table straight at Asura, though it broke in half when he blocked it with his elbow.
"Also mister, I have a name." His eyes widened up and stood still.
Liu Yue stared at him with a slight blood-thirsty look in his eyes, his lips widened up to a grin. Pois simply stood there and stared at them, though his sword had appeared in his left hand. The sword looked water-like, as it was seen through and something continuously moving.
"If you can hurt me, then I'll call you by your name." He hummed while spinning his scythe around.
Asura started to walk towards him, "Sure then. Let's have a chat while we're at it."
He responded by walking towards him as well, "What does your master want us to do?"
Asura extended his hand to grab the hilt of the scythe, though Liu Yue smacked it away before he got the chance to and kicked him in the stomach. There was a visible impact as the sound echoed through the room, yet Asura did not budge.
"She wants you and Xiao as back up and decoy." He stood still with a wide grin matching Liu Yue's.
Liu Yue took some steps back as Asura's hand tried to grab the hilt. At least that was what he thought Asura was doing. Instead, a sound of fabric ripping can be heard only by both men. A void resembling claw marks were left where Liu Yue once stood.
He tilted his head, the scythe continued to dance around his neck, "Why us?"
He flicked his fingers, and fire erupted from where Liu Yue was standing. Although he did dodge it by leaping away, part of his pants was burnt by it. He looked down and sighed, yet he lunged forward at Asura.
"You, because of your abilities. And Xiao, because of his physical prowess." He clapped his hands and an ice wall formed between him and Liu Yue.
Carrying the momentum he had, he kicked the ice wall which made a big enough crack for it to break. The shattered ice blocked bits of his view, which led him having to tank a straight flick by Asura, who was standing right beside him.
A simple flick sent him flying, though he used his scythe as a leverage and did not plow through the concrete wall.
Asura sighed, "Ah~ I wanted to see you fly through the wall."
Liu Yue had to force stop by digging his heel on the floor, "And you lot are the most annoying things we've come by."
"I would've eaten your soul solely by what you just said." He tilted his head so much that his neck cracked.
He hummed lightly, "Lucky for me that you have Amelia keeping you in check."
He fixed his neck while walking towards him, "Correct. Or I would've killed you for disrespect."
Pois was about to take a step when Liu Yue gestured him to not, so he continued to stare while leaning on the counter. Lightning bolts appeared around Asura, aiming it at Liu Yue who had simply dodged and ran towards Asura.
He began to mumble, "The moon will be covered by the night skies, drawing over it with cries of wishes that went unheard,"
Asura grabbed a huge lightning bolt as Liu Yue approached him, throwing it directly at him. Liu Yue dodged by running away from where it was heading. But, he had to duck once it passed through where he was running.
The bolt carried both the wind and the smell of burning, craving its way through while setting it on fire.
The bolt combusted while still near Liu Yue, though his legs were able to carry his pass the flames, it still burned his skin. He took in a deep breath as he continued, "So a curtain will draw away, revealing what was underneath it all along."
His shadow changed, it showed a human-wyvern hybrid opening its jaw. The shadow enlarged until it reached under Asura, who leapt backwards to avoid it. Liu Yue's speed was enhanced as one leap closed the distance between he and Asura.
"Have your master told you not to underestimate your opponents?" He laughed as he removed the scythe from his neck.
Asura replied with a massive grin, "Have you not learned why we are so hard to kill?"
He raised his arm up to block the scythe, it was positioned so that the handle was in front of him. They both landed back on the ground and Liu Yue tried to swing him across the room. Again, he did not budge. It did not even make a mark on his skin.
His grin widened even more as he grabbed Liu Yue's wrist, he swung him along with his weapon off of his arm, then threw him towards the nearest wall. He grabbed his wrist so hard that he broke it, despite only using two fingers.
"Now, you have to call me by my name." Asura laughed deepily, his tone mocking Liu Yue.
Liu Yue laughed as well, though he was not thrown to the nearest wall. He stood behind Asura, announcing his presence by poking his cheek with the hilt. Asura was not surprised by it, he looked more surprised by the bruise on his wrist.
"I thought I did not grab you." He giggled.
Liu Yue stared at the broken table and glass, "Well, you grab my soul. If you had only grabbed my body then I wouldn't have gotten hurt."
He sighed, "Well, Asura, I would accept yours and Amelia's deal. We can talk about the rest of the things, standing of course."
Asura crossed his arms and his grind remained, "Alright then Liu Yue. How much money do you want for this deal?"
"Thirty thousand." He replied while checking his bruise.
"Our currency, or your currency?"
Liu Yue chuckled, "Mine of course. Can't ask for money that is worth much more here."
"She has a complete rundown of the entire plan, right?" He continued.
Asura replied, "Yep. She planned on you and Xiao in different bases that are close to each other. With a different plan for each of you."
"You will be in one of the Lost Sheep's bases, the second major base. One high ranking army leader will be there, Sei and some of his men. You will be served as a decoy, as a member of the cult. Xiao will be in one of the Perfection's bases, their supply base. Leia would be the only one there. Xiao's job is to capture their leader and one equipment." He simplified the entire plan.
There was something more in-depth, though as per Amelia's commands, he kept it to himself. Liu Yue only chuckled but agreed to the deal. Xiao did not show himself, but he would have went along with it even if he disagreed.
"Can I ask some questions?" The scythe around his neck disappeared.
Asura's interest was clear, "Sure. What is it?"
"First, what was the purpose for this deal?"
He laughed, "I'm not sure if I could tell. But I suppose she wouldn't mind."
He paced around the room as he spoke, "You see, she was not very interested with the raid. She was fine with it and all, but she had her own plans. She decided to enlist the help of you and your group instead of the people working below her."
He continued, "Simply because The Council would get on her tail. Their objectives never aligned, so she decided to do things her own way. Even if there was a chance that she would be viewed as a traitor in their eyes."
Liu Yue chuckled deeply, staring at Asura's carefree posture and way of speaking. That only made him wonder more about him which made him ask, "Do you actually hold any feelings for her?"
He stared at him intently as he suddenly laughed out loud and for quite a while. His laughter to the ears in the room sounded like mocking, as if they should have not even asked the question in the first place.
However, his answer contradicted his laughter.
Asura began to walk towards him, "I certainly hold a fondness for her. At first, it was something more like a new toy, as she was someone I could not fully grasp or understand."
He placed his hands together and continued, "But the more she grew up, the more I understood her. There are still things I can't fully grasp, but I don't mind it. It only makes her more interesting in my eyes."
Liu Yue stared at his eyes while he continued talking, his grin began to send chills down his spine. The grin became gradually more sinister, his eyes started to reveal the insanity that made his smile felt maniac every time someone looked at him.
"She is like a little lamb to me. One I certainly cannot control, but oh I wish I could. She's so innocent sometimes, pure and untainted. Perhaps that is what makes her perfect in his eyes, one so perfect for killing. Even the blood under her feet could not taint her soul."
He began to breathe heavily, his eyes holding this gaze that was a mix of love and obsession, "Ah~. She is so beautiful like that, I want to devour her alive so badly. I'm more scared one day if I wouldn't be able to control myself, what will happen to her…"
They stared at him as he began to laugh, it got louder and louder and sounded progressively more insane. He knew that he should not be like that, but his desires had ways to consume his somewhat stable mindstate.
"It's hard to tell if you love her, or if you love the concept of her." Liu Yue stared at him, stoic and with his guard up.
He tilted his head, "I love her. I'm obsessed with her. That's why I don't entirely want to let her go… That's why it makes me happy to see him jealous, the bubbling jealousy looks so ugly but beautiful at the same time."
He placed a hand over his mouth to muffle his laughter, but his widened eyes staring at the ground and his breathing still felt the same. Liu Yue felt like he had asked something he should not have, yet his lips curled up to a slight grin.
"You really are monsters." He muttered.
His head tilted with a massive grin, "To us, ones who never had feelings and desire before we came here. This is all consuming to us…"
The sound of pen scribbling across papers was the only sound in the room. Amelia went through another document and placed it on the growing pile on the floor. When she went to grab another piece of paperwork, her hand began to tremble.
But, that trembling only got worse.
She let go of it and stared at her hands, eventually her whole body was shaking. She knew of this possibility and knew what this feeling was. Yet, every time it happened, it still felt like a new sensation. She wanted to drag Asura home, but she had to calm this trembling first.
The only thing she could do was wrap her own body as she continued to shake.
"If this feeling grows, someday he will try to kill Aeon. Even if Aeon can't die, he would do it anyway."
She breathed in and out slowly, simply waiting for the feeling to be over. She could not control his feelings and desires, the most she could do is suppress it. Yet, she had never done that to Asura, knowing how much worse it would get if she had done so.
"I don't know what love is. I'm sure that this isn't love. But… this is my definition of love."
He spoke in between giggles, "And those who try to stop me. I'll just have to kill them."
His words echoed through the building, all eyes staring at him. At the same time, Liu Yue had this sudden feeling in his heart, one that he thought he would never feel for her of all people. He narrowed his eyes at Asura who continued to laugh.
"She has another monster in her life, huh."
