Chapter 27 - Politics here we go

With great enthusiasm. My Pals and I went to the Great Minds building that was donated by Mr. Alex T. Great. It's a two-story building with ten small rooms. This building was donated specifically for student organizations used. Student groups and other student associations fight to have this room as their office, and most of them shared it to avoid complications.

Student bodies are located on the first floor and seem to be crowded at the moment. As we got near, we can see many popular faces. The most surprising to see are the nasty girls. I wonder what are they doing here. Are they interested in politics? Anyway, none of my business. When they saw us, the nasty girls snorted and give us a sharp look. Then they left. It seems that the talk we have before was still effective and I chuckled.

I saw the current president of the student body. She is in the senior class this year. Last year, she run for student body president and made history as the first junior to win the election. It looks like she is running again this year. This is not good. I am running against an experienced and nice president. Well, may the best person win? I got nothing to lose but losing itself. I silently tell myself to boost my courage.

Victoria exclaimed, Look Mardin that guy I saw him once practicing football with the rest of the school team. His holding the registration form. Looks like you running against a football candidate. No worries, anybody can get elected we just have to do our best. I muttered.

Then Angel said, let me get you the registration form. Stay here girls and avoid the crowd. I know the girl who is giving out the form. She used to volunteer with me for fundraising for last year's typhoon victim. I want to have a brief chat with her.

Then Angel walks faster and We saw him smiling and ask for the registration form. He seems to be talking to the student who hands out the form. Then he runs back and announced to us. Here I got you the form. The girl who gives it told me. You need to fill it out before the end of the week. That will be Friday.

I replied thank you, Angel. He replied don't mention it. By the way Mardin. I saw so many popular faces running this year. Are you still brave enough to go through with this crazy idea of yours? I replied, What their popularity has to do with my gaining experience and learning school politics? Everyone has the right to run whoever they are. I am a person who is practicing my freedom to express myself and run for an office. So stop injecting negative thoughts and be prepared to help me run my campaign. You already said yes to this crazy idea of mine. Angel give a big sigh and said Ok let's do this! Then Victoria said, That settles then but we still need to research how to do this thing only then we have a fair chance. Ok, Let's research in the library. After we go to see Marjorie and update her of our new endeavor I said.

And so three people who have no clues how to run an election campaign fearlessly walk to the library to find some materials to help formulate their new schemes.

"Internet is the God of all information"

Free Wi-Fi connection is the in thing in our school if you know the password. If you don't, just go to the library for free internet. So we walk for few minutes to the library with enthusiasm. When we arrive and saw the library computers are free we all feel so lucky. Each one of us decided to sit on each computer and we agreed to Google this topic: kinds of politics, different kinds of propaganda, and different types of political campaigns and political strategies.

After one hour of hard work, we came up with these things. Wells this website says it all. It gives a practical and doable suggestion that we can apply to my campaign. My friends seem to agree with me. Maybe they get tired of reading and researching from the internet that they don't have the energy to argue with me anymore.

* So here is our checklist that we copied from the internet with my crazy thoughts: 1. Create a relatable message. My thought on this. Make a wacky funny video of the pros and cons of student life that teenagers undergo in today's world. Concentrate on the humorous side. Then post them on social media like FB and YouTube. Share them with classmates and friends and encourage them to share with their friends too. 2. Recruit volunteers, this is synonymous to force your friend to join your campaign. 3. Create multiple fundraising channels, still thinking which bank we are going to rob, kidding! 4. Draw up a budget. This is tough, I need to speculate thoroughly since I am having a hard time budgeting my monthly allowance to last for a month. 5. Be noticed by the locals. This is so easy to accomplish, just run around naked in the school. Gotcha! Just joking. 6. Ramp up your GOTV effort. I had to google this GOTV, and it means to get out the vote or getting out the vote. I need to think hard about how to do this. Since stealing the vote is not allowed. Just teasing. 7. Go door to door, this is the hardest part. Since I don't know where the student population of my school lives. Oh, wait, this needs to be modified. I just stay at the school main door and greet everyone and give them my fliers.

We are satisfied with the above ideas and we later add more if necessary. We decided to start with this methodology, and adjourn. Angel said finally were are getting there. Yeh, I feel the same Victoria and I added. Ok, let's go and update Marjorie.

And so the Two and a half beauties plus the half handsome went to visit another beauty.
