The second night and third day went by uneventfully. Gareth managed to get some sleep, and even gave me some cloth, on the condition I use it to put cold compresses on his head to ease the pain I caused him.
He spent the entire third day in the cave, allowing me to pepper him with questions, about classes, combat, magic, common practices, anything and everything one could want.
First, combat classes. This was anything from melee to ranged, even some spellcasters were combat oriented. Your class was chosen, and evolved with levels. But it also had limits set on what they could learn as skills, abilities and even what type of weapons and armour they could wear. They were called combats for short.
I also learned that not everyone had a combat based class. There was apparently a class for every job out there, in some way. Non-combatant were called lifestyle classes, or lifers for short. This could be anything from crafters, to farmers, to merchants. Their abilities and skills focused primarily on their profession, and rather than gain experience from combat, they gained it from performing those tasks in their profession. Lifers received no bonuses using weapons. But they could, conversely, use any weapon they chose and gain skill with it, albeit at a penalty, and with no experience for their main level or class.
Finally, there were utility classes. These classes focused on specializations and balance between the combats and the lifers. Rogues acting as merchants and engaging in combat, most magical classes and their research, fell into this category.
I even learned about common things. The language, signage, his family and friends. He spent an entire hour talking about his best friend Tomas falling into a rain barrel.
Wait. Best friend. I had friends once. Didn't I? What were their names? What did they look like?
Focus, Orion.
9/30 Energy! Finally!
Time to expand my influence, and become a true Dungeon Core, Level 1 baby!
Expand inwards, at an incline, 3 meters downwards, and another 6 meters squared as a room!
Dungeon Core has Levelled Up! New blueprints unlocked! New abilities received! Dungeon Core Class Available> Wow. That's a lot of upgrades. Blueprints can wait. I want to see my new abilities! -Manage Employees -Scan Class -Scan Race -Scan Species -Set Rules Hmmm. Interesting. The scan features seemed self-explanatory, but employees seemed interesting. -0/1 employees -Hire employee? Wait. I can hire people to work for me? An evil glow began to suffuse my core. Well, there goes that plan. But wait. Rules? -Some rules will be unavailable without employees to inform adventurers of them. Rules may only be enforced by employees, or the Dungeon Core. -Rules are designed to set limitations on resource harvesting, biomass accumulation, prevent or allow monopolization of the dungeon, etc. -Rules must conform to the Dungeon Cores purpose for Creation. Hmmm. Interesting. I can make almost any rule. Alright. First rule then. 1 - Any who attempt to touch, take or otherwise contact the Dungeon Core shall become an Employee, Designated level Slave, of the Dungeon. 2 - Combats wishing to enter for combat must offer 1 piece of knowledge, material or biomass prior to entry. 3 - Lifers wishing to enter to harvest materials must leave 1 finished product for examination prior to entry. 4 - Utility classes must designate whether they are entering for combative and/or resource purposes, and shall not be allowed to alter their decision after entering. They shall pay full toll for each purpose of entry, each time they enter. 5 - No loitering Well duh. That's why I made a sign.
