There was really no use in fighting them. There were about twenty police officers to three young adults, so they just gave in, and were escorted to the back of a police van, after Lainey and Dominic got their weapons confiscated. Once inside the small metal room, Lainey continued her questioning of Dominic, grabbing him and punching him in the face repeatedly.
"What the fuck was your plan there, exactly? Just kill the king and move on, huh? Well, you messed that up, and now we're fucking stuck in here with you!"
She kicked him to the ground, and started pacing back and forth, muttering to herself, making sure to kick Dominic every time she passed him.
"B-but I didn't kill him!" Dominic screamed as loud as he could. "It was someone else, I swear!"
"Are you fucking serious?!" Lainey screamed back. "Who the hell do you think I am?"
"I think you're a very cool lady! But it wasn't me, it was some other guys taking Lewis gem, I swear it wasn't my fault!" Dominic screamed back in between blubbering.
"Alright, sure. I'll pretend for a second that it wasn't your fault. But you know what was? The fucking hole in my stomach!"
She lifted up her shirt to show where the wound was, and what she expected to be a giant gash on her torso, was instead a mildly alarming scar.
"That…doesn't seem too bad." Dominic replied, only to get punched in the face again.
"Okay Lainey, your interrogation skills got us some great information, thanks for that. But anyway, Dominic. Just who were these people you ran into?" Ulrich asked, seemingly unfazed from Lainey's outburst.
"Oh, that?" Dominic responded, wiping the blood from his nose. "Those two blonde people you told me about. And also, another guy, and he actually landed the killing blow."
"Another guy?" Ulrich asked.
"Yeah. Really tall, wearing a tuxedo, black hair over one of his eyes, and he can cover his hand in some kind of spirit energy, or something. It's how he beat the king to death."
"And then?" Ulrich kept questioning him. He needed to know how they were doing.
"Well, then the two you mentioned came in through the window, and took the black gem out of the sceptre, and then they left after healing you two."
"Healing us, huh?" Ulrich mumbled to himself. "Who healed us, exactly?"
"The blonde lady. But the other guy had to fight her to get her to do it, and the emo guy didn't care."
"Right, right." Seemed Gene still wants to be friends with him. Like that was gonna happen.
"Left out the window, huh?" Lainey asked angrily. She leaned in on the other two. "I bet they think we did that." She went to the front of the car and kicked the walls until she got a "Shut up in there!"
"Hey, what are we in for?" Lainey screamed back.
"Murdering the king?" The driver asked, confused. "What do you think it is?"
"I mean a full list. I think I'm entitled to that at least, right?"
They heard an aggressive sigh, before the other officer started talking.
"Homicide, regicide, assault, breaking and entering, theft, larceny, destruction of property. Happy now?"
"Theft? What did we steal, exactly?" Lainey asked.
"Don't play dumb, the black gem on Lewis sceptre. We haven't found it yet, so we're assuming one of you have it."
"Right, right. That'll help the court case." Lainey fist bumped the wall for some reason and went over to the guys.
"We're being accused of theft! You know what this means?" She whispered excitedly.
"They think we have a gem stored in our assholes?" Dominic asked, suddenly turning pale.
"Well, that." Lainey replied, just as uneasy. "But they have no idea about the other three!"
"Meaning?" Ulrich asked.
"Meaning we can pin it all on them! Get rid of that unstable bitch and you can prove your worth without the other guy, or whatever it was you wanted."
"And then I can make my escape!" Dominic screamed. "and regain my glory!"
"Not if you keep yelling your plans out!" the man yelled out from behind the wheel.
"Well, you can go fuck yourself, sir. I can get a lawyer!"
But there was no response. Only the van to swerve so rapidly Dominic fell face first into the wall.
And then the three felt the impact of the van crashing into…something.
"Guys?" Dominic asked. "What the hell was that?"
Lainey peered out of the small window at the back of the van and fell back on the floor.
Ulrich looked out, and he also jumped back, fear in his eyes.
Slowly in the sky, was a giant, purple portal, and small orbs were coming out of it. Right above a village a small distance away from the
"Ulrich, you able to burn the door?" Lainey asked, breathing heavily.
"Uh, sure. Just look away for a second."
Ulrich pulled his gloves out from his underwear, the only place he could think of hiding them from the police. He put them back on, and the chilling sensation barely surging through him. He tried focusing the heat from the fingers on his left hand, and that was enough to blow the door open, and the demon that was in front of it. As the three crawled out, they all looked in horror at what was happening. Lainey crept her way to the front of the van, narrowly ducking under the demon that leapt out at her. Ulrich charged some energy to kill it, and Lainey grabbed her guitar and Dominic's axe.
"Alright, let's go." Lainey said, beginning to break into a run, with Ulrich following.
"Woah, you two are just going to face that thing?" Dominic screamed.
"Well, yeah. Its kinda why we came here." Lainey replied. "You comin?"
"L-like hell I am!" Dominic asked. "I have to survive! Live out my dreams of becoming the assassin king! Have fun dying, guys. It's been a fun time." And with that, he put his axe in his holster, and casually sauntered away from the two of them.
"What, the assassin king can't handle a few demons?" Ulrich asked.
"I could totally take 'em. Just gotta...keep the face marketable, y'know?"
And just when he said that, he bumped into someone else.
A tall man, with jet black hair obscuring the left side of his face.
"Oh, it's you. Care to explain what you're doing here?"
Dominic looked back at Ulrich and Lainey, and then back to him.
"Oh, you know. Just gonna kill some demons."
