Chereads / Destiny Destroyers / Chapter 14 - Vs. Sapphire

Chapter 14 - Vs. Sapphire

So, we ready to go to Japan?" Sapphire asked.

Lainey looked away from her, and towards the sea. "T-this sea sure is nice, huh?" Forgetting she was in England, the land of the grey and shitty.

"So, Ulrich, I think that ditching the whole 'Destiny Destroyers' thing is kind of okay now."

"Yeah. Looking back, I was being kind of selfish, and…"

"Because the quality of the double D's here more than makes up for it!"

Lainey quickly elbowed him in the gut. She would go for the face, but her 5'5 height didn't give her much of a chance against his 6'1 frame. But Sapphire was tall. Seemingly taller than Dominic ,so she could probably do it.

"Hey, I have to go start the boat. You can check your rooms." And with that, Sapphire went to the front of the boat, leaving the three to do as she asked.

The three headed into the inside of the boat, where a small wooden door labelled 'men' was waiting for them. The men headed in, and it was just a wooden room with two green hammocks on it.

"Kinda barren, huh?" Ulrich asked.

But Lainey checked the door labelled 'women' and checked the inside. And in it were blue walls, a bookshelf spanning an entire wall, with a luxurious looking double bed adorned with purple bedsheets, next to another green hammock.

"Woah, why is your room so nice?" Dominic yelled out.

"Because…it's her room?" Lainey interjected. "She probably just had an empty room she had to make do with."

"Hey guys, there's a kitchen here." Ulrich yelled out.

For a boat, it was a pretty nice kitchen. Standard white walls, alongside things like a sink, fridge, all the things you would generally need.

"Think we can grab some food?" Ulrich asked.

"Staying here for a week means we temporarily live here, so we got free reign to the stock, you know?" Dominic replied, opening the fridge. "See, we even got beer in this joint."

Ulrich and Lainey checked the inside of the fridge, and sure enough, it was stacked with things like fruit, fish, some meat, water, and several packs of beers.

"Nice!" Dominic yelled out. "She thought of everything, didn't she?"

"Hm, pretty much." Lainey mumbled, picking up a pack of cigarettes. "You guys want these?"

"Nah." Ulrich responded. "Don't smoke. Besides, they're probably just hers."

"Dude, these are Hell's Grounds. I've smoked for a solid decade, and nobody goes with Hell's Grounds. She just anticipated somebody here smoking and got the cheapest brand."

"Alright guys, I'm ready!" Sapphire yelled from the outside.

Once the three headed out, Dominic noticed just how far away England was. It was slowly becoming a speck in the distance, and it seemed Dominic couldn't be happier about this.

"Farewell, jolly old England!" He yelled out, in an accent more stereotypical than the one he already had. "You will forever be at the bottom of my heart!"

"You know you're going back after this, right?" Ulrich sighed.

"But do I have to?" Dominic responded coolly.

"Right, now that the three of you got a chance to look around, I have a small favour to ask of you." Sapphire requested.

"Uh, sure?" Lainey replied." Anything in particular?"

"Oh, I wanna fight you guys!" She replied.

Ulrich and Lainey were taken slightly aback at this, while Dominic just gave a quick "Sure."

"Any reason, exactly?" Ulrich asked.

"Yeah, you were all knocked out when I showed up! I wanna see what you guys can do, you know? Actually, isn't one of you another elemental?"

"Oh, me?" Ulrich asked. "Yeah, I can use fire with these gloves."

"Oh, like that ice chick? This isn't a fashion statement?"

"No? Wait, you don't need to use gloves?"

"Nope. My powers came naturally to me." Sapphire responded, about as confused as Ulrich.

"You have some kind of wind powers, right?" Lainey asked.

"Pretty much, yeah. What about you?"

"Oh, I got my own demon." Lainey took a granola bar from her pocket, waved it in front of her guitar, until the demon came out, and dropped it into his mouth. "Not that you'd know, considering how useless it was back when I was fighting, you know, actual demons." Lainey replied, snarking at something that probably couldn't comprehend snark.

"That is…incredible." Sapphire looked in awe at the thing that came out of her guitar, her eyes practically sparkling at it.

"Oh! Y-you think so?" Lainey stammered out as she approached her. "It r-really wasn't much, I just, you know…got thrown out of a portal by that rampaging Komo guy."

"Wait, you survived an encounter with him on your own? AND got stuck with a demon?" Sapphire laughed. "You really are tough! Hell, Solar went down after one hit from one of these things!" She laughed again at Ulrich, who was visually creeped out remembering what happened.

"One hit, mate?" Dominic scoffed at him. "Did you kill a single demon after that one outside the van?"

"I was more focused on killing the second in command of the entire operation." Ulrich responded. "Besides, I refuse to believe you killed a single demon."

"Second in...what? Anyway, man, I killed like, twenty demons. Also saved a small child. So, you know, general hero of England, befitting of the next king."

"Can demons even be killed by weapons? I'm pretty sure if multiple police officers from around the world and shotguns couldn't stop them, then an axe wouldn't do anything."

"Geez, why you gotta do me like that? Okay, I didn't kill any demons. But I did take a few hits for the sake of the people, which could be considered much better."

"Alright, alright. You truly represent the people."

"So, axe guy." Sapphire asked. "What's your deal?"

"My axe." Dominic responded, clicking his fingers at her. "Nothing but pure arm strength!"

"Really? Well, now that I got some knowledge on how you work, let's set the rules. The way this is gonna work is all three of you need to land a solid hit on me, and I gotta land a solid hit on each of you. What do you say?"

"Sounds good." Dominic replied, getting out his axe.

"Yeah, sure." Ulrich sighed.

"It's possible, sure." Lainey said, slightly panicked.

"Alrighty then!" Sapphire flashed them a wicked looking smile. "Let's get to it!"
