Five in the afternoon, and the hot sun was finally heading towards the horizon and that spelled the end of yet another day on deployment for Corporal Angelo Sanchez, bringing him closer to the end of this damned deployment. He had been out in the wilderness for a total of 73 days... nothing to do but drive around the borderline to see if the fence line was still intact and no unauthorized entities crossed the border.
He was almost dozing when his eye caught something moving over an encampment about 150 metres to his left. He stopped his jeep and jumped out and crawled to an outcrop of rocks and hid himself among them to appreciate the scene properly.
He found himself looking at a robbery..
Three thugs held an elderly couple driving in an expensive German sedan at gunpoint and looked to be about to murder them in cold blood. One of the thugs was damanding money in an almost histerical voice, waving his pistol around while his cohorts held the couple on their knees and had pistols pointed at their heads.
Corporal Sanchez jumped into action and moved towards the trio of robbers. He circled them until he was almost behind the two thugs holding the couple and facing the histerical one. He readied his rifle and fired at the thug who never got a chance to say a single word before dropping down on his tracks. The other two turned around to see a lone gunman, but he was just too fast for them.. two more shots we fired and the two thugs dropped dead...
