Arriving at the scene, he came across the coupley who were frightened out of their wits. He introduced himself and assured them that they were safe.
Upon inspection, he discovered that the elderly gentleman was shot and was bleeding heavily. He took his radio and raised his post who quickly send a section with a medic. The medic examined the old man and recommend that he be sent to a medical facility asap.
corporal Sanchez drove with the old lady while the old man was put in the truck with the responding section.
When they arrived at the outpost, Corporal Sanchez rushed to his commanding officer, Lieutenant José and reported the matter and within the hour, a helicopter arrived and airlifted the couple to the vapital where the old man was sent to mediclinic, the country's top medical center.
A few minutes before takeoff, the old man requested to speak with the corporal who had saved them. Sanchez came next to the stretcher. "I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for me soldier" said the old man, "but the least I can do is give you something before I die, but before that I want you to swear to me that you will honour the agreement we are about to enter into"
Sanchez nodded his head "I promise"
"I am at the end of my life, and I have very few regrets, but I have one thing that is troubling me, can you help me with it and make my passing a happy one?"
"I am not sure but I will try" said sanchez "tell me what's wrong"
The old man looked at his wife and she nodded.
