Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 (the chase 2)

"Have a drink gentlemen," Fabrizio said, as he went around with a jug in his hands.

He gave a cup to Chiara who sat on a wooden chair beside him, he poured beer into her cup, foam rose from the cup, and almost poured to the ground, Chiara bent her head and lapped the rising foam.

Fabrizio went round, and gave beer to each and every one,

"What liquor is this?" Chiara asked, she had felt how strong a liquor it was, having had a few sips.

"It's a special liquor, from Napels" Fabrizio answered while returning to his chair, from a journey of beer sharing.

Fabrizio took a seat to enjoy the drink with everyone, "Life is good when you are drunk you know." He said and laughed at his words.

"It is indeed." Replied Lorenzo.

Fabrizio pointed at Lorenzo, he swallowed the beer In his mouth and said."You see, that drunkard gets it."  He laughed out again, smacking his palm on his lap.

Lorenzo went on as soon as Fabrizio ended his silly laughs "I know why I said what I said,"

"Well go on and tell us why,"

Everywhere stayed calm, everyone listening to what Lorenzo had to say.

"When we get drunk, it sort of steals away all our worries, even though they are there you can't feel it anymore."

"I wish it does that for long, it's just for a while." Severus countered.

"If it does take our worries for a long time, then I don't mind being a drunkard," Marchisio said.

"I don't care whether or not it takes our worries away, I drink for fun, folks," said Fabrizio, he raised his cup high, and afterward drank up, gulping, as beer flew like a river, from the cup into his guts.

The conversation died away slowly, the atmosphere going down the road of calmness.

The doors opened wide suddenly, and one of Fabrizio's guards came in with haste.

"Sir, Alberto Ferrari, and his men are here."  The guard announced.

"That son of a harlot." Fabrizio rose, grabbed his hat, and dipped a dagger into his pocket.

"Lock the doors and guard it," Fabrizio ordered the guard and walked out of the room to confront Alberto Ferrari.

Fabrizio emerged out of the ship cabin, "Alberto!, How is it going, old friend." He said, sounding a lot enthusiastic, as though the day had been a perfect one for him.

"Am looking for the governor's prisoners, did you in any way see about four people running across the docks?" Alberto asked.

"Not a chance," Fabrizio denied, with a mean face, one could hardly discern whether he is lying or not.

"Hey muscle men, come to have some drink with me before leaving." Fabrizio offered.

"We are fine, we will be leaving now." Alberto declined, he and his men marched out of the ship.

"Like I meant it when I offered you a drink, Fools," Fabrizio said in his mind, he turned around and headed back to the cabin.

-----------------------------

The door bolt clicked, Severus took a dagger laying on Fabrizio's desk, everyone in the room was sent poising for action, probably they all thought, Alberto and his men had come down to search the cabins, only for the door to open and Fabrizio walked in.

Everyone dropped his and her guard.

Fabrizio caught them dropping their guard and their weapons too, "Ow, you all thought I was Alberto." Said Fabrizio, he chuckled at them and walked over to his desk.

"Well, I denied I have ever seen you all." He announced, before taking a seat, a vast sigh of relief eroded the room.

"Thank you a lot brother, I shall never forget this help you have given us," Chiara said.

"Anything for my dear cousin," Fabrizio assured.

The day went on without any more worries, Alberto and his men had left, and no sight of them was seen patrolling the docks.

----------------------------------------------

Hours later, dusk drove in slowly, the workers went home, as well as the shipmen, travelers, captain, and other patrollers of the dusk, only Fabrizio and his guards remained.

Harlots from city central started arriving at Fabrizio's ship and occupying rooms in the ship cabin.

Spectators for the wrestling match also started arriving little by little.

The fight was to begin at midnight, most who had come when dusk drove in, were men who came to be entertained by harlots.

Midnight is when the real show starts.
