Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 (the hiding place)

He placed two fingers on his tongue, to get them wet, and then swiped his book of epistemology to the next page.

It was dim in his house, only a lamp hung on the roof above uncle Manucho produced little light, but the Conners of the room could barely be seen.

Rumbles came alive outside his house suddenly, firstly uncle Manucho assumed it would be those bandits led by Guissepe, who threatens him and Rob him of his healing herbs, most time they leave scars on his flesh, Manucho had borne resents for them, he had a plan to eliminate the bandits once and forever.

Manucho rose quickly from his chair, he lurched to the cupboard near his reading table, while aiding his old bones with a strong old stick,

Uncle Manucho dipped his hand into a big pouch in his garment, and took leaves out of the pouch, Manucho knew the herbs Guiseppe always robbed him of, Malva silverstris, Rosemary's, and sages.

Uncle Manucho replaced, the Malva silverstris in his cupboard, with water hemlock, and also replaced his rosemaries with deadly nightshade, his sages he changed them with a devil's mascot, the most deadly and rarest of all poisonous herbs.

Uncle Manucho lurched with his walking stick to the window near his cupboard, spying around to see what has been rumbling all the while.

He got a look of a Lady riding a horse carriage into the periphery of his house.

Manucho hustled to the door, drew them wide open, and stood there looking deep into the dark to recognize the lady's face.

The carriage halted not far from his cruck truss.

The lady came down from the horse carriage, as well as four men.

Chiara, Severus, Lorenzo, Berardi, and Marchisio.

"Uncle Manucho," Chiara mentioned, following it up with a wide hearty smile.

"Chiara is that you?." Manucho asked, the voice he heard sounded familiar, Manucho kept fluttering his head whilst looking deep into the dark.

"It is me uncle Manucho." She drew close to uncle Manucho, he gradually recognized Chiara as she drew nearer to him, with the four men.

Uncle Manucho turned up the corners of his mouth for a grin,

"Chiara, it's you!" He exclaimed, and drew his two hands apart, demanding a hug, Chiara fell into him, and they embraced.

"I have never felt safer and loved in a long while," Chiara claimed.

"How is my favorite Niece doing?"

"Living in bondage with an arrogant father," Chiara replied while coming out of a hug.

"Don't call your father that." Manucho scolded.

Chiara's appearance changed to a lour face.

"You always defend him, even though you know how evil he is."

"But why are you here this late, with these strange men?." Manucho questioned.

"There are my father's prisoners, he would have them killed, but I helped them escape," she explained.

"What have you done Chiara!?." Manucho yelled, causing Chiara to startle.

"I don't understand what you mean uncle."

"Do you know what he could do to you if he finds out you snuck his prisoners out?"

Chiara cleared a thread of hair dangling near her left eye, "Torture me, or have me killed-" She replied.

"Yes, he could do both you know." Said Manucho.

"If so then am never going back to that castle anymore." Chiara said.

"What?" Manucho frowned at her with all his gestures covered is disapproval.

Chiara knew Manucho would dissapprove of her decision, she folded her hands and kept her mind ready for what uncle Manucho would say.

"You have gone nuts Chiara, and you shall go back to your father's home!" Manucho yelled.

"Even you wants to turn his on back on me." Chiara's voice broke as she spoke, tears flooded in her eyes.

As soon as a drop of tear dripped down, Chiara covered her face, and scurried into the house. Manucho cast his head down, feeling a little grieved by what Chiara was going through.

Uncle Manucho took the rest in, served them soup and bread, they all ate and sat exhausted on the floor, while Manucho went back to reading his book of epistemology.
