"About the registration for the Gym Circuit..."
"That won't be a problem. I'll also process that for you since your Pokedex basically already had your Trainer ID number..." He watched as she rapidly tapped at her keyboard with dexterous fingers. A few seconds later she finished and reached down towards a compartment and pulled out a badge case that she handed to him. "Your registration is complete. Should you get the eight official Gym Badges before the next Lily of the Valley Conference you will qualify to participate in it. While everything nowadays are done digitally, the League maintains certain traditions and you will receive actual badges from the gyms you beat." She then reached out to another compartment and she handed him a key card. "I also booked you your room that you would be sharing at with the other trainers."
"Thanks a bunch, Nurse Joy!" He smiled at the pink haired nurse. Clan then put his badge case inside his sling bag and slipped the key card into one of his back pocket. He already started to calm down and reign in his worry for the pokemon he caught.
After going through all that with Nurse Joy, Clan made his way to the video phone and contacted the number his family gave him.
"Hello? This is the Eclairè residence." A familiar voice sounded from the other side.
"Hi, mom! This is Clan." He practically had to remove the phone from his ear at the squeal that was let out. His weary smile turned energetic after hearing her mother's beautiful voice.
Noraima's face appeared on the screen. "Clan! You know I was so worried when you hadn't called last night!" A chuckle sounded out beside her, his father's face appeared with a happy grin at the sight of his son's face. "Haha! You worried your mother to death, Clan. She didn't slept a wink last night, you know."
"You weren't any better, dear." Noraima retorted.
"-Ehem, honey..." Clint hung his head down in embarrassment, but didn't continued on as he turned towards Clan with a smile. "Anyways, how was our baby boy and his pokemon are doing?"
"I'm great mom, dad! I trained Solaris really hard and he worked so hard that I couldn't help but join in his training yesterday! Oh! By the way I named Torchic, Solaris, pretty cool nickname, huh?" Enthusiastically sharing his experience with his parents, they were very happy to see he was enjoying so much in his journey.
"That name really does fit your starter." His parents nodded in agreement as they listened along. Clan then took them quickly through his day starting from when he left off Sandgem Town to when he arrived at Jubilife City and what transpired before that.
"You should take good care of that pokemon, what a poor fella, it is clearly abused." Noraima bemoaned sadly at the circumstances around Clan's newest and first unplanned capture. "Is there any chance of finding who did this?"
"I don't know. But, do you guys really think he was abused?"
"Of course! If what you said is true about his state, then it is evidently a fact that the pokemon was a victim of abuse. I told you Clan to always be updated on the news, apparently there was a lot of exotic pokemons being captured and sold at the black market. Thankfully, some pokemons were saved by some competent trainers, being the reason why it was publically reported through the news." Noraima and Clint may not be a Pokemon Trainer, they were smart which Clan clearly inherited from them. They were confident that, the pokemon Clan had encountered on Route 202 was in fact abused. Clan also have that suspicion in his mind. He turned worried when he heard that news though, could a criminal organization be walking again around the lands of Sinnoh?
"We're immensely proud of you, Clan. You're shaping up to be a kind and understanding trainer. What you did for that pokemon was the right thing to do."
"Thanks mom, dad." Clan muttered as his parents gazed lovingly at him through the camera.
Clan and his parents talked for about fifteen minutes, Clan felt the tense nerves he gained from today ease up with the voices of his parents. The conversation went to many places in just a short amount of time, from Christopher's Vulpix's missing Clan, to how the Twinleaf Town missed their chocolate delivery boy.
All good things will come to an end though, as even though Clan wanted to converse more with them. They were busy managing their business.
"I can't believe it was only a day, I already missed you guys so much." Clan said with a sad and tired smile, he reached out his hand and touched the screen. His parents also did the same. "We miss you too, sweety."
"I promise to call you guys as frequent as I could. Every time I'll get a chance, I will definitely update you guys on what I'm doing, you don't have to worry about me"
Clan sighed as he tiredly run his fingers through his hair and rested his shoulders on the table of the PC after the call disconnected and ended.
...
After he talked with his parents via video call, Clan headed to his room. The lodge was actually much nicer than he expected. It was small, but cozy. It even had its own bathroom with a shower that Clan immediately took full advantage of, after noticing no one was in the room yet. But he clearly had roommates by the stuff and bags around some beds. There were four beds for each trainer.
Maybe because he was tired, or maybe because he missed sleeping in a actually bed. But, by the time his body made contact with the mattress, his eyelids were beginning to get heavy. He had been so tired after yesterday's training and today's running coupled with the uncomfortable sleep in a sleeping bag, he deserve the rest.
...
The overhead speakers beeped and Nurse Joy's words echoed throughout the lobby of the Pokemon Center and his room privately. "Clan Eclairè, your pokemon are waiting for you at the front desk."
The mechanical announcement woke Clan up from his comfortable sleep, as he forced his eyes open. He cracked his bones and stretched his stiff muscles, he felt like his body was more lose from the short nap. He looked around the room, noticing that his roommates were still not around. He turned towards the clock above the door and noted it was already 02:00 PM.
He then walked out the room and down through the stairs to retrieve his pokemon-... pokemons.
...
He walked towards the lobby, he directly came in front of the desk, where Nurse Joy was already waiting for him with a tray, on it laying two of his pokeballs. He glanced around the now more crowded lobby of the Pokemon Center.
"Thanks a lot, Nurse Joy. Have I not thanked you enough?" Clan jested as he grabbed both his pokeballs with a yawn. He somewhat knew Solaris wanted to hear about the current situation, since he was there with him when they encountered the Axew. The chic pokemon shook himself once he was released and immediately thrilled upon the sight of Clan.
Nurse Joy chuckled at Clan's words. "You're always welcome, Mr. Eclairè. Your Torchic should be good to go for any battles you would have, as well."
Solaris agreed with a chirp full of vigor and thirst for battles.
Clan and Nurse Joy chuckled at that. He turned his eyes towards the nurse and his gaze became one of anticipation.
"What's the update on Axew's conditions, Nurse Joy? Did he shows any distrust towards anyone?"
"Not towards me after a while of comforting, it seemed to have been very scared and lost to whatever it had experienced. It had taken Chansey and I, a lot of time trying to calm him down." Nurse Joy answered. "He was such a feisty one I'll tell you that and a strong one too, as expected of its rare breed. But it needs a steady supply of food to eat to fully recover from his malnutrition, our technology helped with his injuries but not for it's lack of nutritions."
"I will take care of that, Nurse Joy. Can I have my Pokedex? I wanted to check about what information regarding Axew have." When Clan heard Nurse Joy mentioned that they were rare, Clan all the more wanted to find out what kind of pokemon Axew was.
Clan held the Pokedex in his hand. He was tempted to look at the information now, but he shouldn't hold up the line behind him any further. Nurse Joy stopped him before he could leave. "If I had to guess. That Axew you have in that pokeball may have been captured by a pokemon poacher. Some pokemons that the League rescued by pokemon poachers distrust and even held deep hatred towards humans because of what they had gone through. Because of the shock and abuse, it will be extremely hard to gain its trust and companionship if you wanted it to battle for you."
"It just really depends on the circumstances the Pokemon went through, the personality of the Pokemon and its helper. Fortunately for you, Axew seemed to had only been held captive for a couple of days since its trauma are not that severe compared to what I saw to others... It's my educated guess that Axew will be wary of you at first, but he will eventually come around."
Nurse Joy seemed to consider what she was going to say next before speaking softly. "I know you are a trainer who had just started for a few days and Axew might be too much for you to handle right now. I can find him a good home if you want me too?"
"No thank you." Clan spoke quickly. He would never give up on a pokemon. Not to mention the sense of responsibility he got what the pokemon has gone through because of them, humans, he wanted to help it. He was going to give the little creature the best life possible, all the more since he was a pokemon he already catches. "Besides, how would you know it would be too much for me? I haven't even met Axew formally."
Nurse Joy just smiled at how ignorant Clan's response was. "You can check your Pokedex. You will know after reading through the information I had added in your PokeGuide application. Come back after you change your mind, don't be selfish Mr. Eclairè, but considering what you did for that pokemon, you're the only one who I could trust with him."
"All right. I'm Axew's trainer now and I'm not about to give him up without even trying."
Nurse Joy's eyes soften at that and her smile was noticeable more kinder. "I'll cheer for you, Clan Eclairè. I wish you goodluck."
"Thanks for everything, Nurse Joy." Clan bowed towards the pink-haired nurse in gratitude.
"Even I am now being overwhelmed by how much you say thanks, Mr. Eclairè." Nurse Joy covered her mouth and joked good-naturedly. "But, you're welcome. I'll call you through the intercom if there are any changes."
