Chapter 10 - Chapter 8: Reading Books and Recruiting Raven

Ophelia observed Lydia calmly, such strong will power within such a tiny body astounded her. It had been perhaps millennia since she had witnessed such a genius in a charm magic.

But to Ophelia, it all begged the same question, why? What prompted an orphan like her to develop such a strong mentality, to be so loved by the Universe.

Ophelia knew full well that charm magic depended on more than just the principle of manifestation.

"Okay master" Lydia sprinted to Ophelia, "Can I get my break now?"

"Sure" Ophelia replied, still not sure what to make of her disciple. She headed back to Raven and had him scribble down more runes on the ground.

Aron struggled slightly as he placed down the huge stack of books that Triana had picked up in the library. According to her, it was must to learn the history of the continent before proceeding with what she'd teach him.

Carlos, fortunately was not in the same situation. Triana had called him to help with the book carrying. According to her, Carlos would be best trained in archery and dagger arts.

For those purposes, she'd arranged him a nice little archery range near their house and prepare a bunch of wooden dolls to work as both targets and functional enemies.

Triana handed Aron handed an extremely thick book while happily humming to herself. The book looked shabby and extremely old. It didn't have dust on it but its yellowing pages gave off a musty smell.

Carlos was behind, struggling with a tower of books his size. At her command he placed them beside Aron and headed back to train his archery, and when Triana mentioned the targets would be moving, he seemed excited.

"Okay boy." She sat down beside him once Carlos had left. "What we have here," She pointed to the old book she had handed him, "Is the entire history of the continent. Way before the current kingdoms were a thing, way way before the current races existed."

"Tell no one, except me, Ophelia and Old Dwarf what you learn from this book. Now read me a random page, whichever catches your fancy. Phee tells me that Shelia taught you guys the Ancient Tongue."

Aron nodded, not sure what this 'Ancient Tongue' was. To his surprise, the runes and language in the book resembled the secret code the siblings shared.

Which had come from Grandma Sheila. He shook his head, no longer did he know who his grandma even was and then began reading out a page loud enough for only them both to hear.

Her silver hands reach from beyond the high heavens, Her crimson ruby like eyes watch everything, see everything and know everything. Her silver wings shroud all creation in their shadow that hold darkness beyond darkness.

All of fate is within her hands, in the hands of the one who enshrines despair within her name. Beware her name, her deed leaves the most tragic mark across history.

The silver majesty who reigns above the universe from the nightscape, the name of this despair is —

Triana's hand slapped his mouth shut. A look of panic and surprise evident on her face, she hissed, "What are you reading?"

She grabbed the book from his hands and proceeded to read herself. "No, this isn't…" . Triana handed the book back to him and with a serious look asked him to continue.

With concern Aron voiced my question, "Is everything fine?"

She simply looked at him and asked him once again to continue reading.

Carlos made his way to the house with a light hop in his steps. Triana had promised him targets that would move and act like real people to improve his battle skills.

She had also promised to teach him some elven tips an tricks when it came to archery and dagger arts. Needless to say, Carlos was excited.

That is, he was, until he saw the poster's with Raven's likeness on them. There, on the town notice board, in bright bold blue letters were the words, "Seeking Raven Raffal", on the posters.

Below, in smaller letters were the words: "For Army and recruitment purposes. Report to Town-Hall once location known."

Carlos bolted to his house as fast as his legs could carry him.
