Immediately everyone entered the dungeon, they felt as if a kind of connection was severed. Simply put, they weren't in their world anymore. The dungeon was like a breach in two worlds, and the laws of this world were somewhat different from theirs.
Each world had its own will. It was simply a subconscious identity that regulated the laws and principles of the world. A world's will acted as a support system and ensured the preservation of each world and its inhabitants.
Humans gaining special abilities was just the effort of the world's will to curb the destruction caused by the monster's invasion.
As awakeners, they had gained the recognition of the world's will, and they could tell that the laws and principles of this dimension were different.
They felt a faint hostility and some restrictions were placed on their abilities. This was because their presence in this world was of no good, and the will of this world was doing everything possible to reject them.
The reason why a single awakener wasn't a match for a monster of the same rank during a dungeon raid was because the world's will acted in support of the monsters while also placing restrictions on the awakener. On the contrary, the humans received the same support from their word's will when it is a case of the monsters Invading their dimension. This was the deciding factor that made the human race gain victory during the invasion several years ago.
"Set up the formation," the raid leader ordered in a calm voice.
Hearing his words, several members of the group immediately sprang into action. Drawing complex patterns, they proceed to arrange numerous runes in a circular formation.
The formation was simply a defensive barrier meant to act as a protection in case any accident occurred during the raid. Once there was a crossover into a certain dimension, the will of that world acts in self-defense, and solidifies the entrance for a specific period of time, usually for a couple of days. During this period, the awakeners in the dungeon would find it impossible to leave, and this could prove fatal if there was an ambush. In this case, the defensive barrier would serve its purpose.
After a few hours of construction, the defensive barrier came into shape. Complex rune patterns could be seen arranged beautifully on a large circular platform making for an exquisite sight.
Upon completion, the raid team advanced slowly into the dungeon while acting with great caution. Just as they advanced, the nature of the dungeon came into view. It was rockily planned with numerous mountains and lush grasses.
Right then, an ominous feeling wafted the air and the expressions of everyone present tightened. Their senses tingled, placing them on high alert.
"Everyone, stay alert. All D rankers take the lead." The raid leader's clamoring voice reverberated loudly.
Hearing this, A few awakeners with heavy momentum rushed out from behind, while the rest members arranged themselves into formation.
All awakeners had immensely keen senses that surpassed that of normal humans and they could detect even the slightest changes in the environment. Sensing the heavy pressure permeating the atmosphere, they could tell that monsters were approaching.
With fierce looks on their faces, everyone gripped the edge of their weapon while flashing intense gazes into the distance.
Right then, from the depths of the rocky plains came two monstrous creatures. Built ferociously like a giant spider made of steel. Eight keen sharp-edged legs traversed the rocky planes, spreading a rattling noise, like the sound of one piece of iron hitting another.
'Poison steel.'
The group's expression turned solemn in an Instant.
Poison steel were broad species of dungeon monsters. They varied in different forms, sizes, and strength, from E ranks even up to A ranks. They had steel-like exoskeleton which gave them an almost absolute defense. Their main strength lay in their corrosive poison.
The two figures walking up to them were poison steel spiders. A top D rank monster that wasn't easy to deal with, even when several D rankers combined efforts.
Seeing the monsters closing in, the raid leader then separated the team into two groups. The first group proceeded to lunch a barrage of range spells at the first target, while the second group attacked the other.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ground shook and the earth trembled. The atmosphere was illuminated with blinding light as the D rankers at the forefront launched a series of powerful spells and long-range attacks, while the E rankers acted as support from behind.
The poison steel spiders tried their best to evade the attacks that came flying at them, but the relentless effort of the team made it impossible to do so. The series of attacks came shelling against the bodies of the monsters, but their thick steel-like exoskeleton acted as a resistance.
Even after a few rounds of attack both monsters still stood strong. It was as if their defense was absolute and the attacks had no effect on them.
The motivation of the E rankers in the group was starting to diminish. If the situation should continue like this, they were certain to run out of mana soon, and then…
Just when they were in a state of panic, the raid leader's voice echoed once more, "Don't lose your ground and keep up with the attacks, they'll get weak soon."
Hearing this, the group continued with their attacks, sending a series of barrages once more. Just as the raid leader had said, after an extended period of time, they noticed the momentum of the poison steel spiders was starting to diminish.
Although they couldn't penetrate the body of the poison steel spiders due to their hard exoskeleton, the impact of their attacks must have caused them severe internal injuries.
The speed at which the poison steel spiders approached and evaded the attacks became relatively slowed. They were like battle tanks that had run out of fuel. Seeing this, the raid leader hurriedly shouted,
"Now!!"
Just like a pre-planned tactic, Karan and several other awakeners specialized in close-range combat rushed out from the crowd, narrowing the distance between them and the monsters in an instant, and proceeded to launch another round of attacks.
