SCREECH…!!
A loud shrieking sound broke through the entire atmosphere.
The two monsters were besieged roundabout and received numerous attacks from the close-range combat awakeners. They were just like an arrow at the end of its flight and didn't have the momentum to evade properly.
The closed-range awakeners were previously briefed by the raid leader on the tactics that would be used in defeating the monsters. The long-range specialist started the attack in order to weaken the poison steel spiders, giving the close-range specialists enough ground to deal the decisive blow.
Sounds of brutal slashing and piercing resounded in the air as they aimed at the weak spots of the poison steel spider.
Karan utilized his quick movements and pierced the poison steel spider severally on a weak spot in the abdominal region. Fresh dark blood spurted out from the wound and the body of the monster quivered.
The sharp hind leg quickly flew towards Karan's position in a stabbing manner. Karan tilted his body to the opposite side, dodging the fatal attack. He launched himself once more at the open wound while gathering his essence energy on the blades of his twin swords.
SPHHHLT!
With a piercing sound, the twin swords sank deep Into the monster's abdomen. Karan revolved his essence energy to the extreme, directly flooding the internal organs. An ear-piercing screech resounded once more and the monster shook its body severally, throwing Karan off to the ground.
Seeing the heroic scene caused by a fellow low ranker like themselves, the fighting spirit of the rest E-rankers soared into the sky and they attacked more vigorously.
Derek who was one of the few D-rankers summoned a group of five skeleton soldiers. The skeleton soldiers he summoned were armed with either a sword, a shield, or a bow. They were obviously a team that complemented each other.
Giving order to the summons, he proceeded to charge fearlessly along with them at the armored spider, sending a barrage of attacks while also evading the counterstrikes of the poison steel spider.
The manner In which his summons attacked attracted numerous attentions. Their movements were well constructed and organized, unlike other typical summons. It was obvious that they were mimicking the fighting style of their summoner which was something untypical.
The long-range awakeners watching from the sidelines expressed their amazement at this sight. But they quickly noticed a flaw which caused them to sigh.
It was true that Derek's skeleton soldiers unlike other types of summons could mimic his movements and fighting style which made them exceptional, but the major problem was that they were too fragile, and the damage they dealt was very minimal.
Apart from upgrading their equipment, there was no other possible way for necromancers to increase the strength of their summons, this was why they always sought after stronger summons from time to time. As for Derek's summons, their abilities were unheard of, and he must have obtained them by chance. But what if he got stronger summons, was there a guarantee that they would possess this same ability?
Imagine his skeleton soldiers having the ability to develop themselves and become stronger, along with the ability to simulate their summoner's fighting style, won't they become an ultimate weapon in no time? It would be a case of one man with the strength of an entire guild. In that case, clearing dungeons single-handedly wouldn't be an impossibility for him and that would upset the balance.
In their world, there was always a balance in everything. There was no such thing as being over-powered because with great power comes great responsibility, and also, with great power comes great difficulty and restrictions. This was a fact that was painful, yet true.
Meanwhile, the close-range awakeners were still fighting fiercely, tearing the monsters to pieces bit by bit giving them an endless round of torture. Both monsters now looked miserably out of shape and their momentum was greatly weakened. It was just a matter of time before they succumbed to their injuries.
Thinking of this, the momentum of the group shot up once more and they attacked more vigorously with all their might while visualizing the rewards to be obtained from the body parts of the monsters.
Just then, with a loud cracking sound, the stomach region of one of the poison steel spiders suddenly swelled up. It extended its fangs, spraying out a dark blue liquid at its attackers.
"Watch out!"
Noticing its action, a member of the group cried out at the top of his lungs.
Several close-range awakeners also noticed it and activated their movement techniques, dodging the blue liquid.
One E-rank awakened was caught off guard and could only watch in horror as the blue liquid floated towards him.
"WOOSH!"
Just in the nick of time, Karan dashed at a super-fast speed and grabbed the cloth of the E-rank awakener. They both fell and rolled over to the opposite side, avoiding the liquid by a hair's breadth.
The E-ranker who had just been saved had a shocked expression on his face. It wasn't until this moment that he realized himself and cast Karan a grateful look.
Right then, they turned their heads to the side only to discover that they had fallen towards the path of the second poison steel spider.
Before they could make any movements, the stomach region of the second poison steel spider swelled up instantly, and it extended its tentacles directly towards them.
PCHIT!
The blue liquid shot towards them at a jet speed. Right before it fell on the two, a figure appeared in front of them with a large shield, directly blocking the poison.
As the blue liquid fell on the shield, it instantly corroded and melted the outer layer, while a sizzling sound along with a cloud of hot smoke permeated the air.
The rest E-rankers observed the scene with bewilderment in their eyes. They had heard of how powerful the poison of these spiders could be, but having witnessed it first hand, they couldn't help being shocked.
Igor, who had just performed his sole duty as a tank glanced at the completely ruined shield in his hand as a layer of smoke rose from the surface. He couldn't help but sigh. This was a D-rank shield given to him by the guild master for the purpose of this raid. He was so fascinated by the sturdiness of the shield in comparison to the regular E-rank shields he normally used, but who would have thought that the shield would be completely ruined by a single blast?
The Highest rank of awakeners in Regan was D-rank, the same was for artifacts and resources. And he had just witnessed the ruin of a D-rank shield which must have cost a lot of fortune. But looking at the bright side, he had managed to save the life of a guild member. The pros outweighed the cons. Thinking of this, a faint smile appeared at the corners of his lips, and he quickly extended his hand towards Karan.
