His little black eyes were wide open, peeking through the lofty window with that height of a five-year-old kid while his tiny trembling feet were struggling to tiptoe above the frosty ground.
The air was too chilly and it was almost midnight. Nevertheless, this little kid still did not go in and no one seemed to care about him either. He was just peeking from there habitually and could not see anything inside. In fact, he just could not see a thing at all. The kid was blind.
Occasional yells of anger and screams would come out from inside, making this pathetic kid trembled and not daring to walk in. His little dirty face full of scratches and bruises got very tearful by now.
"You damn old man!" There came an ear-splitting yell of a young woman again who was sitting at a wood short-legged table, drinking several mouthfuls of wine and cursing a certain someone.
" You played with my heart, crushed my life into pieces, then dumped me leaving behind that bastard son of yours."
Her hair were all scattered, her eyes grew a bit red from anger and crying. The room was also a mess, fragments of broken things littered all over, not even a space was left to step one's foot. And the culprit was there, throwing another wine cup with annoyance which then broke into pieces after it hit the cold wall.
She scratched her hair like a fool and howled with great woe once again.
"Hahaha...., and now that you found out I'm investigating you,... what! You threatened me to sell me as a prostitute at some vulgar brothel.
Hahaha..... great, great!
Do me as you want, Sell me as you like, now I mean nothing to you more than a piece of shit, hahaha...."
She cried and cussed like some lunatic, flinging everything in her sight, but the furious woman who still could not vent her rage enough, roared her poor son's name after recognizing a movement from outside the window.
" Zhang.. Long.. wei! I know you're there, come inside."
The kid outside flinched and shivered with fear, immediately fumbling around for his walking stick which he just placed there leaning against the wall. His tiny little hands trembling with terror, droplets of tears started falling down, he could already imagine the pain from those lashes of his mother.
"Zhang Long wei, hahaha... my dear blind and mute kid... Hahaha, You are still not coming in? What? You became deaf too, hahaha....or...could it be that you dare disobedient to your mom?!"
His mother who was laughing crazily just now, suddenly stood up and walked to somewhere in the room, then came back with a cane in her hand, heading towards the door.
" Zhang Long wei, come here right now! Don't you hear me? You bastard son.... "
The kid, who still could not find his stick, ran with all his might as soon as he heard his mom swung opened the door. He knew he could not escape from her, but he ran,... ran like an idiot with those blind eyes into the freezing dark, thinking even if it could hindered his mom no more than a second, it still deserved a try, even if it was just a second, he still wanted to escape.
The closer the sounds of her footsteps approached, the wobblier his little legs became. And when that very first lash landed on his small back, he knew the time had come. He knew they were all going to start again, torments were awaiting him, a night of hell came once again,
haunting him as always.
He felt her big hands gripping his small arms roughly before a series of lashes came torturing his little body.
"You want to escape, huh? Wanna run away from me just like that father of yours? Hahaha, like father like son,..... you're no different from that animal. Like that animal, you deserved to be tormented. Like how I've been suffering , you, as a biological son of that animal, deserved to suffer as well, hahaha....Why don't we go to hell together, my dear son? "
Her grip on the kid's neck grew tightened.
" Mom, please don't.
Please don't kill me.
I'll be obedient.
I'll do wantever you say.
I'll be a docile child.
Sob.. sob... mom, it hurts.
I can't breathe... mom..... mom"
Those words kept repeating in his mind, but this poor mute kid could not even uttered a thing. His crazy mom just continued laughing
as though this was a fun thing to do.
Mom.... mom.... please... don't... kill me...
Zhang Long wei's eyes swapped open with anxiety and sat up abruptly. Ever after waking up, every single scene in his nightmare just kept appearing one after another, each and every one of them as clear as day. He touched his own neck with his sweaty palm, wanting to get a reassurance that it was only a nightmare, no more than a nightmare. It had been years that he stopped having these kinds of nightmares. Maybe it was because of a change in situations.
He gazed out of the window subconsciously, a graceful and breathtaking scenery of jade-like bamboo forest coupled with the sky portraying the magic of first light came into his view. Zhang Long wei took back his gaze and got out of his bed, preparing to go wash up himself. The room neat and clean, a faint fragrance of incense that had effects of healing and calming down one's mind filled his little room , everything was absolute contrast, yeah... this is it. It was really just a nightmare.
--------------
A youth in his snow-white robe sat in the center of the room meditating. His brows furrowed from time to time, maybe because he had troubles finding inner peace, it kept on like this for a while but shortly after, he gave up and opened his eyes. Vague hints of annoyance and disappointment could be detected in those black eyes. It was Zhag Long wei in Jiangyu Sect's uniform.
Li Zian possessed heavenly spiritual root of water which needed the extreme calm of mind, and this was the very thing this demon king was lacking most. His mind was in great turmoil these days. Sometimes, out of nowhere Li Zian's memories would pop out, sometimes, his own past would come haunting him everytime he closed his eyes trying to meditate, or at times , he would became stressed after forcing himself to familiarize with these new circumstances he was in.
Nevertheless, Zhang Long wei did not get overwhelmingly concerned by these problems , he knew time was the only thing he needed to find a proper solution. As a demon king, these kinds of troubles and headaches were already parts of his daily life, his life could not be called normal without these things. And such life gave him such calmness in these kinds of entanglements.
He was about to go out to get some fresh air and relax his mind when there came a knock on his door.
"Zian, it's me, Guiren. Physician Chen tell me to bring some tea to you. Hurry up and open the door, I've got no free hands. Hurry up!"
This noisy senior again... Zhang Long wei thought as he opened the door, but what he saw next made him slightly taken aback. Both hands of this senior were occupied with armfuls of manuscripts and books, and the tea cup this senior mentioned for him was carried on his head.
"What are you looking at? Come take it quickly, it's so fucking hot."
Zhang Long wei quitted being surprised and swiftly reached out for the cup. To be exact, it was a little porcelain tea cup with a lid and a saucer. How could this senior even managed to carry it over his head without a droplet spilling from it? It was something that could not be achieved without special training. Speaking of which, he did not have a good feeling about that. What kind of special training could it be other than punishment given by their master?
"What? Do you wanna make fun of me? Just you wait. When it comes to your turn, it would be even more severe than this by multiple times.
Strange. Why don't he feel like this senior was exaggerating things?
"Physician Chen said this herbal tea was good for your health, it might be a little bitter, but make sure to drink it all.
Ahh... really? I just can't understand why not only masters but even physicians in our sect are so good to you.
Anyway, I'm leaving..."
And like that, his senior who was serving his own punishment left in a bad mood.
But Zhang Long wei did not care, closed the door immediately, and walked towards his little table to place the tea, even from the scent, he could tell how bitter it would be. But he also knew this herbal tea was made up of extremely rare herbs as he had drink this before in his past life. So, thinking of his own good, he gulped it all down in an instant . As soon as the cup was put down, he made a face. Just a little bitter? More like bitter to death.
