Chapter 32 - A cappuccino- II

Christain swiftly moved around in his kitchen, like he personally knew where everything was.

He patiently waited as the coffee machine worked, and once the cappuccino was ready, he placed the cup on the saucer in front of her. "Enjoy."

She glanced at it, scowled and looked back at him as he poured some for himself. "What the fuck?"

Christain paused and turned his body around halfway to look at her. "Do not swear, Grace."

Her frown deepened. "Don— I— you can't ask that of me. What are you doing?"

Did he even realise what was going on? After what had happened, all of this seemed weird to her. It did not make sense.

Christian turned around and raised his hands a little. "Having a cup myself?"

Her eyes went to his hands, and that was exactly what he was doing. He was having a cup of coffee himself. That was it, that was all what he had been doing.

She looked at her cup, still pulled to the brim with the design on the foam that she doesn't even know he could pull.

Shaking her head, Grace took a step back. "He brought him home last night."

"Yes, I did."

"To your place?"

"Was I supposed to drop you off somewhere else when you were dead drunk?"

"No," she realized he had a point. Other things that also dawned on her was that she couldn't exactly explain the situation to him when he was not looking at it, the same way.

Grace was not going to go out of our way to tell him what she was feeling about the entire situation when it was clearly not needed.

"You know what, thank you so much for bringing me to your house. I can't thank you enough for that. I'm really grateful but I have to leave." She said as she slowly stepped back and hopefully towards the door that she had not figured out where it was.

Was there even a door? She did not remember seeing it when she was looking around.

"You need to leave? He stared intently. "Where do you have to go?"

"Work." Grace blurted out. "Of course, I have to go to work. It's a Tuesday morning and it's um," she looked at her wrist, but did not find her wrist watch there. Her phone, was her phone?

Did she leave it at the bar?

"It is half past ten In the morning, grace. You have missed your work deadline. That is, in case you have a job."

Shit. "I missed the deadline.." The words died when she caught on to what he said later. "I have a job, Christian."

Christain's lip stretched but he was not smiling. "When did you start lying to me? I have always caught onto your lies, grace. Why would you bother lying then?"

"I-I am not lying." She denied.

"Stuttering and lying, what a deadly combination of tattletale." He whistled and slowly started getting closer. He stopped only when he came to the other side of the counter. "You don't have a job, Grace. You were fired. Do you really think I would not know?"
