Chapter 2 - 4. The bright star that fell from the sky

"A cup of warm tea is the best thing in the morning.."

Taking a sip of the milk tea, a man in his forties looked content and satisfied.

He normally came to the ocean side to look at the sun and feel the fresh breeze that touched his face making him lose all of his fatigue.

"This is the best, tea and a view of the sunrise…." The man made himself comfortable on the chair as he leaned forward and

The news spokesperson on the radio reported the weather report.

"Indeed a good day." The owner of the tea shop nodded his head as he agreed with the news reporter. He looked up at the clear morning sky feeling happy and positive about the day.

"This will be a good day for business." He let out a smile.

.

.

A FEW SECONDS LATER…..

A deafening peel of thunder echoed throughout the entire city as the sky turned darkish black color accompanied by purplish lightning that looked destructive even when observed from the ground.

"What the hell!!" The shopkeeper cursed when a strong gust of wind that came out of nowhere almost knocked off the umbrella he had kept outside the shop for customers.

Everyone who had come there for enjoying a nice morning stopped whatever they were doing and looked at the sky that had suddenly taken a change for the worse.

"What in the world is happening?"

People made a crowd outside the tea shop as they murmured among themselves.

A dark sky and lightning were nothing new for them but…

The strange phenomenon they were witnessing now sure piqued up their interest. Just a moment ago everything was clear and peaceful but the next second…

Poof…

It was replaced by something opposite.

It was only natural people would be curious.

The man who was a tea lover got disturbed by the noise outside. Wondering what could have happened he trotted outside the shop and mingled with the crowds.

Squinting his eyes, he looked at the bright object which seemed to be falling from the sky.

'What is that?' He thought inwardly as he continued looking at it.

Within a few second the object fell inside the small jungle located near the sea.

"Hey missy, did you see that?" He patted one of the lady near to him and asked pointing at the sky.

"The lightning?"

She scrunched her nose looking at the dirty hand of the man on her shoulder and swatted his hand away rudely.

"No, the bright object which looked like a star." He asked being specific while calmly ignoring the rude behavior of the youngster.

"No, I did not see anything like that." She answered quickly and turned to gaze at the sky filled with lightning as big as snakes that seemed to be crawling on the court yards of heaven.

'Hey , what did the man ask?' Another girl whispered in her ear as she eyes the man who was running towards the forest.

"Just a pervert. Nothing more." She shrugged her shoulder showing a disgusted expression.

"How so clumsy of me." Xu Yang looked at his feet that had a deep wound. The bleeding had stopped but the wound was deep so he had to take care of it before it got infected.

A moment ago he had been taking a stroll on the beach just like he always did. Nothing out of ordinary.

It was just him, the ocean and the morning air. But a sharp object that was in the shore actually managed to scarp his leg.

Scrap was an understatement. It went through his shoes and managed to poke his leg a centimeter above the ankle.

"And there goes my peaceful morning."

Sitting on the sandy shore which got wet occasionally when the waves hit the beach, Xu Yang gave a long sigh.

The sky flashed with a thunderous boom as a bolt of lightning struck the ground just a few meter away from him.

Startled he moved sideways nimbly with his eyes opened wide in surprise.

It was rare to see him make any kind of expression except from his usual cold and apathetic face.

Sadly no one was there to witness the expression of surprise.

"What the..." Before he could swear a gust of wind came swiftly towards him form the eastern side. To avoid the dirt from entering his eyes, he closed his eyes as he moved his head sideways.

When he opened his eyes again, the wind had stopped but the thundering and lightning persisted.

'What is happening??'

He looked up at the sky, a familiar feeling welling up inside him but it quickly subsided.

As he was watching something caught his attention.

'A star in daylight?'

Looking at the bright moving object that was falling down he got thinking.

"Wait…"

"….."

"…"

"Why is it coming towards me?" He looked stupefied speechless at the star which was about to strike him on his face any moment from now.

Before he could hurry away from the spot, the bright star hit him right on his stomach. Because the momentum was too high, the force made him fall down flat on his back.

"BAMMMMM!!!"

He fell down with a plop but the sandy beach cushioned his fall.

"Could this day get any more better?" He wanted to face palm at the series of misfortune and he actually did. He face palmed letting out a long sigh.

He was letting out sigh after sigh quite often today.

Feeling a little weight on his stomach he extended his hand to touch it and felt a soft sensation.

'Fluffy!' That was the first thing that came to his mind.

"It must have fell somewhere around here.." The man in his forties did not know why but he could not help searching for the object he saw.

It could have been his delusion but he wanted to make sure before he gave up searching for the bright star.

After searching for a while he was about to go away when he saw a bright glow coming from one of the bush hidden under a heavy tree.

"I knew I saw something!!" Overjoyed the man ran towards the light.

As soon as he looked there he let out cry of surprise.

"This…this…"
