The car came to a halt.
"Take care of your self okay?" Raymond said softly
She nodded and left the car. She knocked and the door opened and she entered in. Raymond turned and left.
"Hey how are you?" Wendy went over to ace and hugged him but he didn't reciprocate her hug.
She looked at him
"Who was that?"
"Who!"
"Raymond, he was the one that saved me yesterday" she replied
His mood changed
"Saved you? from ?"
"Lesbians" she replied
"You kidding me right?"
"Am serious"
"Your joking with me huh? you don't want to tell me why you didn't come home yesterday right?"
Wendy glared at him without saying a word to him, she stood up and left the house. Before ace could catch up with her she was already gone. He went back inside the house giving him self reasons on why to think she was lying
"Maybe she's saying the truth" and he ran after her. When he got to her house he knocked severally but she didn't answer
"Wendy please am sorry"
"I want to hear you out".
"Please just let me in"
But she still didn't open the door
"I know you are mad at me for how i acted and, honey, you are right so I am so sorry."
And he turned to leave the door flew open and Wendy hugged him from behind
"Am sorry i was so jealous" he added
"Jealous? why?" she asked
"I thought that....that guy...."
She kissed him lightly
"Nothing can stop me from loving you okay?"
And he hugged her tightly.
The next day Wendy walked into her office to see Raymond waiting patiently for her
"Any..."
"Happy birthday" he said smiling widely at her
"Oh thanks Raymond"
He nodded as he brought out her cake and her friends came around while they sang her a happy birthday song.
She felt like tearing up,
"Thank you all" she said hugging them all.
They spent the day talking and chatting and After work Raymond took her shopping. She was really excited. He dropped her home and bid her goodnight. She opened her door and walked in, she went up to shower and she was ready for bed yet no call from ace.
She felt devastated but she slept off. Her phone buzzed while she was asleep but she was deeply sleeping that she couldn't hear her phone ring.
After a while and she didn't pick up her dropped a message
"You are the angel in my prayers And the only source of light in my life You are the beat of my heart and all my dreams realized May you have the happiest birthday, my dear wife"
"Sorry i couldn't be around i had something i needed to tackle"
The next morning wendy woke up feeling feverish, she struggled to get herself to bath and then she laid back on her bed. She called Raymond to inform him that she won't be coming to work and he panicked
"Ill be there soon" and he cut the call. She looked through her phone and saw the missed calls and messages from Ace.
"Something that is more important than me right?" she scoffed
