Slowly but surely, that wave of neurological power grew across William's brain. Since he was conscious enough right now, he swiftly noticed a couple more details.
Although it happened deep within his noggin, the boy could feel how a bunch of electricity spread its twisted arms in all directions. It felt as if billions of creepy tentacles reached out, and tied themselves around every neurological branch on sight!
Such a boost of mental energy was immense, the young one could swear that a spark shot out of his ear! The amount of power felt beyond tremendous, so he was eager to figure out how this upgrade would play out.
And of course he already figured out which enemies to attack, his rage grew rapidly just by the thought of those targets!
"I'm gonna pop their brains like balloons," William thought.
Indisputably, he directed such a bad wish against those ancient, dramatically big owls!
Yet such a craved victory laid somewhere in the future, right now he wanted to give this power a bit more space to develop. In the meantime, he thought about a possibly more complex topic; fate.
It was swift to make him grunt, "Guh... I don't like this place, everything wants to kill me."
That of course was the main worry which coated this dilemma. William felt a tad sad how every step he took swiftly turned into a misstep. He felt like live bait!
Such rough feelings were acceptable. This second mountain was more hazardous in comparison to the first one, it could break the average man.
That aside, it wasn't easy to have a sense of orientation here either! The randomly sized trees made it tricky to find a high point, as everything seemed the same all around them.
Such a rough environment made him think, "I used to love survival games back on earth... yeah, hate them now."
Now since this area was incredibly maze-like, the couple of friends had forcibly wasted almost an entire day. It just felt impossible to find their way around.
Indefinitely, they grew beyond tired, so it became imperative to camp somewhere for the night. Thankfully, after another hour of exploration, they actually found a stone-walled cave to nap in.
Thanks to this proper find, they slowly gained a layer of warmth, as this place partially isolated them from the outside world's elements. So all and all, it felt like an achievement to wind up here, their night was well spent for once.
Better yet, after the snakezoids woke up on the next day, they cooked up a warm meal. So with such luxury gains, they felt refreshed enough to discuss important matters!
Yet complexion came with problems, it was inevitable to run into a light debate. These two had it difficult to figure out their journey, so they were quick to voice out such concerns.
Characteristically, William was the first to complain. "Maybe we shouldn't rush, where are we gonna go this time anyway?"
"Uh... to make peace?" Olivia spoke out the main goal.
Calmly enough, the boy reminded. "Yeah but how? We don't know where to find another pyramid, even those feathery bastards don't know how to."
"Oh... right. So like, what do we do now? Head home?" She hesitantly pitched.
Although that idea tempted the other, he still refused it. "Nah... I mean, it would save our asses but we can't ditch now. If we quit, the city will be attacked or whatever."
To embrace his projected beliefs, the young man stated. "A bunch of bugs almost wiped us out, imagine if some nasty ass gorilla got loose and attacked a village!"
His stubbornness towards good deeds sounded noble, but William's aims were rather selfish. He wanted to be seen as a hero, just to achieve a decent position in the city. Such a goal couldn't be won over if they backed away now, so such a failure was indefinitely avoided!
Since they couldn't give up, Olivia helped raise the question. "Then what are we gonna do? Poke around everywhere? This place is bigger than half our city!"
Such a question was heavy, so her smart friend couldn't really figure out a solution to her worry. Yet he was skilled enough to make a little excuse.
Without hesitation, he expressed. "Maybe we'll figure something out? It's weird here, we'll probably trip over the triangles."
It wasn't easy for William to be enthusiastic, but for the sake of everything he craved to achieve, a good attitude was mandatory.
So with that pace of forced enthusiasm in mind, they slowly prepared to leave this cave behind. The second mountain had a vast explorable terrain, which couldn't be covered if they wasted time in one spot.
They had to move, but before they could do so, their gaze landed upon a certain, living figure. It stood across the cave's exit, and stunned the pair of friends!
Since a chunk of sunshine beamed through the entrance, it was difficult to tell what this... creature was.
Nevertheless, even though William got spooked for a quick second, he wasn't scared to face another enemy. So he bounced up at first, and then swiftly prepared to test out a few neuro-shocks!
But before he could have done anything, a familiar tone called out from this same newcomer. Such a voice shocked the pair of friends, they didn't even know what to feel!
With a hint of joy, the creature shouted. "There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you two!"
The young man had to rub his eyes a couple of times, he thought that this scene was an illusion caused by all that prior pain!
But no, this wasn't a complex facade, and Olivia helped confirm against it.
She shouted back, "General Hakoon! Is that you?"
"Oh, so I wasn't losing my shit." The boy thought.
"Sure as hell it's me, where have you two been?" Such ape-like hollers continued.
"Uh... on the mountains? Where else can we go here?" William unapologetically sassed.
After that point, it took this group of three a while to catch up with all these recent events. The general explained what happened through that vile, bloody battle which featured those great brown bears!
Apparently the platoon had won eventually, but most of the soldiers had died and the healers weren't better off either. So with a handful of twelve survivors, those snakezoids were sent back home.
Such losses were beyond tragic, so the thirst to find more survivors grew tremendously. Coincidentally, another healer had spotted how Olivia had taken off with the younger boy, and that sight was reported immediately.
However, since the general was capable enough to survive this harsh environment, he decided to seek out these couple of friends. He succeeded from the clear looks of it.
That aside, he didn't fail to mention how easy it was to get up here, all because how calm the first mountain was. William wanted to describe how this peace had spread out, but Hakoon held the conversation by the leash instead!
He hollered a hearty laugh, and switched topics a little bit. This big man described a rough encounter, specifically, one that he had with a group of blue-spined snakes.
"I smashed their heads haha! No swords, all claws and fists! They couldn't stand a chance!" The general happily stated.
Perhaps such a celebration was a bit too loud, but he had reasons to brag. That crazed race of snakes had massacred innocent citizens more than a few times, so at this point it was a heavenly deed to kill them!
However, as curiosity grew strong, William asked. "What were they doing here anyway? For food... or did they think the king's fangs were tossed up by some tree?"
"Hey, don't joke about our beloved king Kantemos, I'll skin you down like a bear carcass." The general's face swiftly turned firm.
"Some loyalty..." The younger one sighed, and brushed the threat away.
Thankfully Hakoon was flexible enough, so he brought the main topic back.
Quite stutterlesly, he stated. "Those smelly snakes probably got lost, but they somehow found something expensive… look."
Before the others could have caught up with everything this big man said, he pulled out a rather unique item out of his backpack.
This shiny thing could not be mistaken with anything else, it was one of the great, transparent pyramids! Its odd white glow was unmistakable!
"What in the ever loving fuck!" William shouted for once.
The boy was beyond excited, as he instantly understood how easy their job became. He was about to express such joy as well.
But at that same moment, the group's attention was caught by a thick, feathery head which poked out from the far exit's ceiling.
Just a moment later, that same body carefully dropped to the ground and blocked the entire path. And before anyone in the team could react, this huge albino owl went into action.
It wholeheartedly shouted, "Thief of great three is here! Fly fly fly!"
